    You can't go wrong with a classic yellow chocobo!
    Yes, you're right about Conjuror being a healing class. If you look in the upper-left corner of the screen, you will see the name of the Main Story Quest that you're on, and a smaller quest name below that. That is your Class Quest, and you can get more story for your specific class/job along with more skills. Right now, you'll be unlocking one every 5 levels. It's important to keep up with them.

    I made my chocobo a rather lovely ice-y blue and honestly, she's perfect. I wouldn't change a feather on her pretty little head. Loved this little video (and the first one) and I hope you play a little more because your sense of humor made me smile a lot. Yda and Papalymo's voices are so very, very not great in ARR but (like anything) you do get used to it eventually and you branch out from your starting city fairly quickly and meet a lot of other people.

    Hi Pete, welcome in Eorzea!
    I hope that you will stick with the game for longer - it's really worth it, as story is one of the best there is in any game to be honest.
    Don't worry about voice acting in A Realm Reborn - as Disastra explained - it's all due to tight budget - money wise, and time wise - since they rebuilded the game in less than 2 years. You should consider watching Noclip documentary about FFXIV - then you will understand why ARR is they way it is.
    At first - you should focus on quests with meteor icon - as those are your main scenario quests. Blue icon quests that you will see later - will unlock something for you. You can safely skip over regular quests for now. You can always come back to them later. MSQ will give you more than enough EXP. So for now - you should focus on MSQ, and your job quests. MSQ to move with the story, job quests - to get access to new action skills.
    But that's all from 'back-seating' that I will do in the comments.
    Please enjoy your adventure, take your time, and I hope to see you around - since I'm also a fellow Chaos DC player, I might actually bump into you when I'll be visiting on Cerberus :)

Also there is a HUD layout bottun in the system menu, you can use that to modify your UI and put one more Hotbar, you will need it. You only have to drag one and activate it. Good luck in yout gameplay adventures! This game story is amazing I hope you like it!

    Fun little titbit:
    The in-game weather changes 3 times per Eorzean day. One Eorzean Day is about 73 real-life minutes and the weather changes at midnight, at 08:00 am and at 04:00 pm.
    If you see it raining during the 00:00 -> 08:00 am window or during the 08:00 am -> 04:00 pm window, you >might< see a rainbow opposite of where the sun is! It'll show roughly 10 Eorzean minutes after a weather change and lasts 30 Eorzean minutes :) (30-33% chance to see one during a transition from precipitation > visible weather)

    Coming over to FFXIV from other FFs like I did, you picked a really good game!
    Two very help tips:
    1. Don't forget to do your job quests which pop up every 5 levels. They have some needed skills and will also allow you to promote to a job. Conjurer -> White Mage
    2. You can play FFXIV with a controller if you want. In fact, it is designed with them in mind. Just pop in an XBox 1 or a PS4/5 controller and you're good to go.

      @mr.mystere4999 Před rokem +1

      @@xezzee When you create your character, you will be given a list to choose from, and what you choose decides where you start your adventure from.
      If you wanna start in Gridania:
      Conjurer, Archer, and Lancer
      If you wanna start in Ul'dah:
      Gladiator, Pugilist, and Thaumaturge
      If you wanna begin in Limsa Lominsa:
      Arcanist and Marauder
      You can also unlock Rogue in Limsa Lominsa when you complete your Level 10 class quest.
      Every single class I just listed promotes to a job once you complete your level 30 class quest and complete the quest to unlock the job. You will be given a job stone which you'll need to equip.
      They are extremely important! You will not be able to learn new skills without your job stone being equipped past Level 30.

    My chocobo is a greenish-teal, and she is perfect! Nice to see a sprout enjoying the early immersion. The developers have done a great job of making XIV feel like both a single player jrpg and an mmo. There are plenty of systems in place (now) that will mostly allow you to play as totally single-player if you so choose! Can't wait to see your next update!

    Pink chocobo. It's cool to see that you are liking the game so far and I assure you it will worth it. I find interesting that you are trying various mmo games from the perspective that you don't like it which it's good to be able to prise or critizice them from the perspective of a player that know what other game developers are doing. I don't want to influence you but I have the theory that FFXIV it's the best mmo game around right now and I guess I gonna stick around to check your review /journey of it compare to the others MMO you are playing to see if my theory is right. Thanks for the videos, and subscribed.

    One important thing to note about the classes is that once you do your level 10 quest (I think) you unlock the ability to change classes (later called jobs) and can pick up any class in the game and play it on your single character. So if you ever feel like you don't like how conjurer plays and want something with more engaging combat that is an option available to you.

    I am not sure if you will stick around in eorzea but please enjoy your time here. I don't want to be that all-knowing guy who advises you on everything you do. I mean, experience is the best teacher right? But if I could give you one piece of advice, it would be to stick to the MSQ and do job quest. That is the main focus if you play with a free trial account. The experience you gain from that is enough for progression
    ps: I thought you sounds like "Medieval Marty". he also documented his experience the first time he came to ffxiv from wow. So listening to your story made me feel kind of like dejavu haha. btw, my chocobo's color is white!

    @dragonmanj Před rokem +1

    My favorite colors would have to be the Red chocobo and the Black chocobo. With that out of the way, I'm sure you will enjoy the story the further you get into the game. There are like three "filters" you might find and run across during ARR but should you happen to push past just those the quality and story telling will get far better. Hope you enjoy your time in Eorzea!

    My personal chocobo is a light blue. You chose a class that is highly respected. If healing is to your liking, then conjurer is an excellent choice. It is easy to learn and master; unlike the others which I think is more difficult. The reason is that conjurer (which later, evolves into white mage) is more of a reaction based healer; while the others, are based on prediction. If you're good at being a healer, you'll enjoy the class and people will love you for it.

    Favorite color of chocobo? - Black - for... specific "lore" reasons... You'll get there in early Heavensward ^^° And if that lore-specific reason isnt really for you, well... you get a lot of different bardings later in the game... like... really, a lot. I think, a pale color in whichever hue suits them best.

  • @SailorSetsuna7
    @SailorSetsuna7 Před rokem

    Yes, Conjurer is indeed a healer. And honestly one of the better classes to start with because while you take a bit longer to defeat anything, you can also heal yourself midway. Which I cannot say about Thaumaturge, who despite much more power has long casting time and is not what I'd recommend for first timers (not discouraging those who want to, I'm just saying it's harder).
    Once you get to visit 3 other cities around I think main story quest at lvl 15 or so (maybe a bit later), you can try out any other class you want. Still I hope you get comfortable with being a healer, they usually get instant or very short queue when it comes to dungeons since most people is playing dps.
    Like people already mentioned, I recommend taking Class Quests, as they reward you with level adequate weapon, parts of armor and some unique skills you do not get through leveling. Same goes when you reach a specific story quest and finish your lvl 30 class quests, you get to unlock the extension of said class, a.k.a. a job. In Conjurer's case it's White Mage and you get some super useful healing skills through those quests.
    Also fun fact, depending on which class you choose at the start, your adventure might begin in other city. Conjurer, Archer and Lancer all start in Gridania, Arcanist and Marauder start in Limsa Lominsa, and Pugilist, Thaumaturge and Gladiator (my starting job btw.) start in Ul'dah. Each has its own "introductory character" (in your case Papalymo and Yda) who later sort of gets you involved with the main plot of ARR.

    This was a pretty pleasant video. If you are vibing with the game this fast then you'll love it by the end if you ever want to get there.
    In my opinion if you put the game's quality on a chart, it'd be a curve going up consistently till today. Or in other words, it definitely doesn't start with its best foot forward. So yeah, can't wait for you to maybe continue it some day!

    It's funny how I've seen little things in this video that are referenced in current expansion content, and it's just things I didn't even notice back then. Yes, you're playing a healer. So combat is a bit slower for you, but not by as much as you think. My Chocobo, Slap'Happy has been green since we could first dye them.
    After thought...
    Keep in mind, you don't have to stay a healer. At level 10 you can start switching by visiting another guild, tho until you progress in the story, you're limited to the classes in the area you're in.

    The game being designed for both KBM and Controller is a great design, as it allows crossplay to work flawlessly in FFXIV.

    I hope you enjoy your time in FFXIV. I think the hardest thing about the game is that it does get extremely good after "x" amount of hours and with the free trial, you'll get to see how the game evolves to become a really good story. If you stick with it, the end journey is really worth it, but that is a hell of a time investment.

  • @MeedaYean
    @MeedaYean Před rokem

    I'm a big fan of the classic yellow chocobo, but a nice pleasant teal isn't bad either.
    I'll throw myself into the pile of people welcoming you to Eorzea, and throw in a little advice as well if you're up for reading it. Feel free to ignore if you wanna be fresh.
    Now that you're over level 10, following your class quests at the Conjurers guild will unlock the ability to pick up other classes by visiting their guilds. The Lancers and Archers are based out of Gridania, but eventually the main story will take you to new cities with other guilds. There are even quite a few hidden classes that you can't pick at character creation that I'll let you discover for yourself. The main story gives you way more EXP than you need for just one class, and all of them handle quite differently, so I encourage you to experiment and try to find one that really clicks with you. Every class has it's strengths and all of them are viable at endgame, so no need to worry about the meta.

    the voice acting is the one truly unfortunate thing about A Realm Reborn that still remains, I think. Acceptable at best, and absolutely cringe inducing at its worst, it's a real relic of the rushed development cycle and tight budget.
