What size speakers are in a Mazda 5?

  • Replace the head unit before you do anything else. The rear speakers put out a much better sound than the front with the stock H.U. I'm guessing this is a crossover problem because they are components in the front doors. But for me sitting up front I have too much on the high end and next to nothing on the low end.
    I've found crutchfield.com is the best source for info and hardware.

    regardless of the outcome, thank you for taking the time to do this. :)
    i know the pain of trying to find info about ANYTHING on the mazda 5. if its not a 3 or 6, its buried deep or never was.

      Thanks, I hate not being able to solve a problem. We had some issues with our 5 and traded it in for a Dodge minivan which I swore I would never do... but it was a really nice vehicle and my wife fell in love with it. Most of my new videos I'm sure will consist of all the common complaints with Chrysler products. And I still have my Mazda3 which I will attempt to keep until it blows up so lots of videos to come on it as well. Merry Christmas.

      Just coming back to see this. Thanks for the wishes, hope yours was as well. I may do some videos for the 2012 Touring 5 that's in the driveway. Full disclosure, it doesn't look to be the most well thought out vehicle. Ha. That being said, it's quite a bit better than i thought when i first saw one.

    This was super helpful - thanks for posting. My stock speakers didn’t even have a magnet, so cheap. I’m so glad I swapped them out. But yeah, those anchors were the trickiest part of the entire process.

    I've hesitated to post a video of my new speaker install because... you are essentially wasting your time if you do not replace the factory stereo. The factory speaker actually sounds pretty good when pushed. I hooked mine up to an amp once removed from the car and they sounded 10x's better.

      +PromisKeeper thx for taking the time to share. sounds like you are saying without a better stereo/amp just swapping out better speakers won't really improve the sound?

    • @PromisKeeper
      @PromisKeeper  Před 8 lety +2

      +Ezra Houser in my opinion yes. You may benefit from putting new speakers in just the rear because they are not components, but don't spend big money on powerful speakers without having a stereo that can push them. A $20 set of boss speakers would probably be an improvement. It's been several months since fooling with the stereo and we've come to terms with the factory set up. At higher volumes it doesn't sound too bad. your rear passengers have a better listening experience than the driver.

      I replaced the stock radio on my 2012 5 and it was like night and day. Put in a Pioneer CarPlay. Took 2-3 hours w slightly above average skills maybe? But I went with Crutchfield and between their assistance and CZcams it turned out alright. So glad I did it. I’ve had to pull the Pioneer out twice in 3yrs - once for a warranty repair and just last month for a blown fuse. Each time it gets easier - not that you wanna be doing that on any kind of regular basis of course...!

      +Stephen Fazekas my 3 GT has Bose and I really like what it puts out. We traded this 5 in for an actual minivan. Just could fit anymore and had a computer glitch that caused the car to die while driving one day. The stock 5 speakers were ok if the volume was really high, but I wasn't looking for loud so much as deep and clear.

    Hi, I'm thinking about upgrading the speakers on my Mazda 5. I was wondering if it's possible to install 6x9 speakers. I asking because a friend of mine gave me a set of Pioneer speakers and I want to see if its possible to use them, before I go and buy new ones.
    Great tutorial BTW

    • @PromisKeeper
      @PromisKeeper  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks for watching. You can buy adapters pretty cheap to take a 5x7 to 6x9 but it’s going to increase the depth of the speaker and likely not leave sufficient space to put the door panel back on. We no longer have the car so I can’t say how much free play there is between the current mount and the door panel for that to work in this case.

      R ichard it’s been a few years now since we traded the car in for another. According to crutchfield.com the rear speakers are 5 1/4”. I don’t recall them being so small but I can’t say for sure.

    I have a 2008 Mazda 5. The speakers on the drivers side, front and back doesn't work on media settting when listening to mp3 player but it works on AM/FM radio. What's the problem with it?

    • @PromisKeeper
      @PromisKeeper  Před 3 lety +1

      That is odd. Are you using a 3mm Jack input or is this Bluetooth or USB? My guess would be if it’s the 3mm headphone input you’re not getting stereo because of a bad wire. Could even be that the contacts that make up the “input” jack to your stereo are worn or broken so you are not making contact with the TRS connection like you should. Try a new 3mm TRS wire maybe.

    • @AVPVP
      @AVPVP Před 3 lety +1

      @@PromisKeeper it was the 3mm double male wire that caused the problem. Short or bad wiring near one of the heads. I had a spare one, tried it out. Now it works perfectly.

      +Dj Revel yes they are. I noticed the higher the volume level, the better they sounded. 40+ but that's just too much for a tiny family car. We traded it in a week ago. Bought a 2012 Caravan reluctantly... Dodge and transmissions... Stereo is awesome. Factory 6x9s all around and tons of bass.

      Same here. After reading some posts on Mazda247 and videos like this, I'm going to do a 6x8 in the doors (dynamat-like materials will be added), some decent rear 5 1/4's and a small 4-channel amp. Leaving the stock head unit for oem look and resale.
