Thank you for watching (and listening)!
This takes "fretless" to a completely different level.
Mahogany really gives a special and full voice to stringed instruments.
Ordered mine today from maybe the only builder in my country. No regrets :)
I bought one a week ago and I’m actually excited about it arriving!
I am in love with this strange beautiful instrument.
ΓΝΩΘΙ ΣΑΥΤΟΝ the most important thing to reminded every day
This violin/harp/guitar/cello fusion is a thing that I'm absolutely here for, geez. I got chills.
Thank you so much! 🖤
Technically this instrument was made before all of those(minus the harp) so you could think of those instruments as focusing on a single aspect of the harpa
This is wonderful! I can't stop watching your videos :D
Thank you, you don't know how much your words pleased me! I am very glad that you like my videos! 🖤🖤
You have made an enchanting sound that lets the listener journey. The warmth of mahogany gives a richer sound.
Thank you Mark, I'm so glad you like her voice! 🖤
This is the greatest music known to man . Thank you I love it
You're too kind for real! Thank you so much! 🖤
This is the one that led me to wanting to learn this graceful old instrument. Thank you.
I couldn't be happier to read your comment! Thanks to you, I am very happy you decided to get closer to this beautiful instrument! 🖤
Well that was different fun thanks for music 👏
AMAZING, MY FAV PART 0:39
This is the most beautiful sounding instrument ive heard in awhile well done!!! I love your music
Thank you so much! So glad you like it! :D
Wow sounds great... much more sustain hehehehe. Great to see the innovation in this.
I love this!
Beautiful!! Thanks for sharing your music and talent with us!
Thanks so much to you! I am really glad that you liked it! 🖤
Amazing
Yaaaasss! So good, even had time for a cheeky smile at the end hehe, my talharpas made of mahogany too!
Sounds fantastic!
Thank you so much!! :)
Tagelharpa is a strange instrument indeed. Like throat singing, it's hard to appreciate unless you have the ear for it.
It was natural and obvious to me, once I took the time to focus on what instrument was the old atmospheric music of Wardruna coming from :) as I would like to learn throat singing if I could.
@@ValCharis I feel exactly the same way! :)
Really? I feel kinda flattered😂
What do you know of Khoomei?
@@ValCharis You should try learning throat singing, it's really fun and if you get the technique down you can start improving quickly. I learnt it by singing over Batzorig Vaanchig's videos in the background, and also songs by Altai Kai, Bai Terek (which you can find on the russian channel BEK) and some altai stuff I found on youtube (including the cult classic of the dude with rastaman hat singing Argimak Attar in a yurt, lol)
Outstanding sound 🕯Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Penelope!! 💜
as always excellent !
Thank you so much!! I'm happy you like it! :D
Beautiful!
Thank you! :)
What a beautiful instrument.
Thank you so much! 🖤
You're so talented and beautiful. Nice to see you smile! 😊
You're too kind for real! 🖤 Thank you so much! :D

One more like for one more great video. Thank you for your performance!
Thanks so much to you! 🖤
perfectly !
Its hypnotising and relaxing
Thank you so much! 🖤
me encanta!!!
Thank you! 🖤
Good! Good!
Between this, the hurdy-gurdy, hornpipes, and the double-pipe (double-flute or aulos) you have the most interesting instruments out there. Especially if coupled with various types of hand-held drum.
I'm happy you like their voice! Thank you! 🖤
I certainly do, thanks also and you're welcome. :)
Thank you for playing this, what a pleasure for the ears!
The instrument learning is difficult?
Thank you, I'm so glad you like it! We can say that the tagelharpa seems to be a quite instinctive instrument, but it needs some patience and practicing, expecially in the first 2-3 weeks. Passed the most frustrating phases, when you have to learn how to control the sound, then it will repay you of any minute you'll spend on it, you'll see yourself improving from week to week. It is an incredible instrument, with its own ancient personality that speaks to you directly. :)
@@ebanisteria.musicale where can you find on and what kind of strings and tuning does it have
Hi! :)
You can find all our tagelharpa models here: www.camillamargheritaferrari.it/lire-ad-arco-tagelharpa/?lang=en
All of them have black horsehair strings, while the tuning is different depending on the model.
Doing my first build as mahogany soundboard/bass bar.

Very beautiful piece Camilla. Love the open grain on that Mahogany. I notice that there is a 1/4" instrument jack ... is there a pickup inside? What kind of pickup would you recommend?
i love your vids and your unique instruments! how can i contact you?

Thank you so much! 🖤
Wonderful sound and a great piece of music. I'm wondering what tuning you're using, starting with the string closest to your chin. Is it B F# B? Thank you for your time!
Hi Jeramy, really thank you! :) Pratically correct, I am using here B - B - F#
I LOVE this instrument. Someone needs to use this in metal music. Also anyone ever play one of these like a guitar? I’m curious to see what that would sound like.
I think it'd sound like a lyre without the bow that's what the instrument looks like. There are a few bands that use lyres and tagelharpa, Eldrim, Burzum and Corvus Corax are three I can think of.
Atelier Skald, the youtube channel, has an electric lyre he plays.
Hic Mad thanks. I know about Corvus Corax. Fuimadane, Jirka Hájek, and A Tergo Lupi are also some great bands that use the Taglharpa.
@@alaskabornheathen8902 Thanks :)
Thank you Corey! 🖤 Well, without the bow the sound it's very limited, but I've tried it a few times amplified and distorted (with the bow); and it really has its appeal!! Neither I know someone who uses it in metal music, but I'm sure someone will do (if someone isn't already doing it, I'll follow this comment 😬)
Ebanisteria Musicale C.M. Ferrari not 100% what I was looking for but if you look up “Electric Lyre” there’s some pretty cool videos that pop up.

Severely underrated

Could you make a video teaching some basic lessons of this instrument? or at least writing it down at the comments, sorry for the request, mine have just arrived and i have no clue on how to play it, but watching you plaing it is so inspiring... Wich tune do you use?
Thank you so much Arthur!
I don't think I could be very useful under this point of view, not only because there are many amazing and skilled players but also because these instruments are not all the same, they can differ significantly one from another depending of the characterstics and on the maker. What can be useful for my instruments won't necessary be the same for others :)
Your maker/seller can surely help you starting, I'm sure with pleasure :)
What I feel to recommend, that it is surely good for every tagelharpa, is to spend a lot of time in gaining confidence with it. It is an instrument that respond to our actions, so it is necessary to listen to it, to how it reacts to our gestures, and change our movements trying to follow these responses to find the best sound.
Long notes, simple changes, easy rhytms... all this work will be absolutely an advantage for any repertoire you'd like to play :)
👏👏👏👏🙌👏
I really like the blend of melody and deep harmonic sounds. Can you tell me the value of having a three string over four; easier reach? Or is he melody just played on the top string?
Thank you! 🖤
In this case, the tuning on the three strings was C-C-G, so that playing the melody on the first string, you can keep two steady drones on C and G.
But you can surely set different tunings and play both the three strings, depending on your necessities. :)
Four strings, depending on the instrument, can have more drones, more combinations of tunings, etc...
This sounds amazing!!! I wanted to ask you, if you could provide me with some information, regarding your Instruments, please. Im a guitarmaker/luthier from Austria and i am about to make a Tagelharpa for a very talented friend of mine. I have difficulties, figuring out the correlation between the scale, the tuning of the instrument and the string thickness. Since I have never worked with Horsehair bevor, this is very difficult for me. Could you please tell me, if possible, witch scale length and tuning your instruments have? Thank you very much!...this would be a great Help for me!,....:D
Hi Iss, thank you! Yes, it is not so simple to find out the right horsehair string for the instrument, in my experience it depends more from instrument/tuning than scale, but they depends also from the horsehair you use, diapason lenght, structure of the instrument, ecc. The tagelharpa in the video is tuned in B (not really common in folk music, it is my personal taste) and it can move easily on an octave scale, with some extra notes. What I can recommend, is to do different tests to find out the best solution for your instrument characteristics. Have a nice day and good work! :)
@@ebanisteria.musicale love this.
perfekt, jeg lærer å spille dette instrumentet nå
Thank you! You'll see, you won't regret any minute spent on it! :)
@@ebanisteria.musicale thank you
Muito bom 🇧🇷🇧🇷
This is so wonderful! Do you only play with the top string? I am not very familiar with Tagelharpa Cello.
Thank you so much! 🖤 I tend to use it a lot, but the second and third are also very useful; I hope to be able to do some more videos soon with a little more variety :)
Geiles Instrument!!!!! Danheim^^
Vielen Dank Steffan! 🖤
Camilla sei bella e brava
Grazie mille, troppo gentile!
This is truly beautiful. Did you compose this yourself? I recently acquired a Tagelharpa and I'd like more of these, I absolutely love the 2 Tagelharpa songs you uploaded. Can I find more of these anywhere? (whether it is in video or as music sheets)
Thank you Nicolas! :) Yes, both the tunes, and I am really happy you like them! Of course, I don't still have any sheet but there are other videos on CZcams, you can find them searching for "A Tergo Lupi"; it is a musical project where I play tagelharps and lyres. Really hope you will like it!
Leave here a link, if it can be useful: czcams.com/video/x-oe_BM00oY/video.html
@@ebanisteria.musicale Yes I like those a lot too, I really like your style, it has a very special feel. I also discovered the Kravik Lyre via that other channel, it really has a beautiful sound.
Your tagelharpa sounds really great as well. Are you using horse strings? I'm having a hard time getting rid of that scratchy sound with my recently acquired tagelharpa (the sound of the bow robbing against the strings). But yours sounds very clean. Is it due to practice, other types of strings or general manufacturing?
Well played! What are your strings tuned to? (If you don't mind sharing)
Thank you! 🖤 In this video is tuned B-B-F# :)
Wow never heard such a cool droning tone before. It stirs and soothes my Celtic spirit. Loved it ! Thank you. Mike from Boston
Thanks to you, I'm happy you liked it 🖤
Fantastic sound
Thank you Viking!! :D
😉👍😊😊😊
So beautiful. I just got mine. I find it much easier to play bowed between my legs. I don't know if it's because of my height but holding it upright is extremely difficult for me. I'm a bit short
Thank you so much! 🖤
I also am not actually tall... :D
The tagelharpa is one of the few instruments that allows you to choose different positions to play it, so I think it is good to take advantage of this. I play in different position depending on what I have to play; sometimes I am more comfortable with the instrument on the knees, sometime between them. :)
PLEASE UPLOAD MORE
Thank you so much REIÐR!! We're making other videos with other instruments :) If you'd like to hear more, I leave here our channel of pure music: czcams.com/video/x-oe_BM00oY/video.html (A Tergo Lupi)
Beautiful.
What notes do you use to tune it? I am struggling to tune mine since I am still pretty new and information isn't that easily found.
Thank you! 🖤
In this video is B B F# :)
But, not all tunings are good or usable on every tagelharpa; to be sure about what tunings or range of frequencies can be tuned yours, I really recommend to ask your maker/seller, the only one who can know your instrument and what is good for it, to not ruin strings or instrument :)
You are amazing!!! So do yo sell those beauties??? I am in Mexico but I want one. I wonder how can I buy one. It's amazing. Love it. You are really talented. ❤️❗🖤
Thank you Edna, you're too kind! Thank you so much 🖤
@Kai Zen thanks!!! I will check it... I die for one tagelharp. 💥⚡🌼
@@ebanisteria.musicale I watch almost all the videos. Your duo is the best I have find by far. All the pagan sense... The way you both create the atmosphere is great. Congrats. Flames from Brigid. Keep the poetry alive. 💥
Oh, yeah, I need one! It looks intuitive, I'm guessing you're playing harmonics? Very awesome
Thank you so much Ronny! 🖤
Are the other two strings ever used as melody strings as the top string is here?
Yes, expecially the bass drone (the third string)! The second one, the high drone, can be used when you need to switch from the bass to the high melody string, because it is closer :)

could you do a vid on how to play, im getting one soon and would love a how to
Hi Eric! We're making in this weeks other videos with our other instruments, once we'll finished what we're on, I'd like to think about it :) But your instrument could be also very different from ours, for tuning, handle, bow and many other aspects. I recommend to aks your makers for some tips! :)
@@ebanisteria.musicale Is there any books/videos you would recommend in learning this instrument
@@reirofficial5009 if there are books about tagelharpa practice, I don't know them, I'm sorry! These instruments can be even really different one by the other, I can recommend to search for videos with instruments with similar characterics (position, bow, dimensions, strings) to take inspiration.
Check out tagelharpist in CZcams. He makes tutorials.
Its sounds like a B3-E4-B3 tuning... is that correct ?
Sorry for this late reply, I didn't see this comment, don't know why!
Tuning is B - B - F# :)
How often do you experience that the strings snap ?
Well I think it could be very subjective depending on the horsehair; but in my own personal experience, it can happen but it is not common :)
I noticed the Sign that says ΓΝΏΘΙ ΣΑΥΤΌΝ, I'm Greek but I can't understand what it says, my father told me it's either "return to him" or "know him"/"understand him"
