      Thank you, I'm so glad you like it! We can say that the tagelharpa seems to be a quite instinctive instrument, but it needs some patience and practicing, expecially in the first 2-3 weeks. Passed the most frustrating phases, when you have to learn how to control the sound, then it will repay you of any minute you'll spend on it, you'll see yourself improving from week to week. It is an incredible instrument, with its own ancient personality that speaks to you directly. :)

      I don't think I could be very useful under this point of view, not only because there are many amazing and skilled players but also because these instruments are not all the same, they can differ significantly one from another depending of the characterstics and on the maker. What can be useful for my instruments won't necessary be the same for others :)
      Your maker/seller can surely help you starting, I'm sure with pleasure :)
      What I feel to recommend, that it is surely good for every tagelharpa, is to spend a lot of time in gaining confidence with it. It is an instrument that respond to our actions, so it is necessary to listen to it, to how it reacts to our gestures, and change our movements trying to follow these responses to find the best sound.
      Long notes, simple changes, easy rhytms... all this work will be absolutely an advantage for any repertoire you'd like to play :)

    I really like the blend of melody and deep harmonic sounds. Can you tell me the value of having a three string over four; easier reach? Or is he melody just played on the top string?

    • @ebanisteria.musicale
      @ebanisteria.musicale  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Thank you! 🖤
      In this case, the tuning on the three strings was C-C-G, so that playing the melody on the first string, you can keep two steady drones on C and G.
      But you can surely set different tunings and play both the three strings, depending on your necessities. :)
      Four strings, depending on the instrument, can have more drones, more combinations of tunings, etc...

    This sounds amazing!!! I wanted to ask you, if you could provide me with some information, regarding your Instruments, please. Im a guitarmaker/luthier from Austria and i am about to make a Tagelharpa for a very talented friend of mine. I have difficulties, figuring out the correlation between the scale, the tuning of the instrument and the string thickness. Since I have never worked with Horsehair bevor, this is very difficult for me. Could you please tell me, if possible, witch scale length and tuning your instruments have? Thank you very much!...this would be a great Help for me!,....:D

    • @ebanisteria.musicale
      @ebanisteria.musicale  Před 4 lety +9

      Hi Iss, thank you! Yes, it is not so simple to find out the right horsehair string for the instrument, in my experience it depends more from instrument/tuning than scale, but they depends also from the horsehair you use, diapason lenght, structure of the instrument, ecc. The tagelharpa in the video is tuned in B (not really common in folk music, it is my personal taste) and it can move easily on an octave scale, with some extra notes. What I can recommend, is to do different tests to find out the best solution for your instrument characteristics. Have a nice day and good work! :)

    Wait so I've been a fan of A Tergo Lupi for awhile and didn't put the connection together lol feel dumbbbb. Just made me a bigger fan. Your talharpa always sound great, perhaps I'll get my next one from you too. Also cool to see another lower tuning player. I like mine in B also but usually keep it just half a step lower. Keep kicking ass!
