      I mean your right in a way, but a macbook pro is also a pretty expensive computer. It just boils down to need. If you need a good rack that will support a good amount of weight safely then purchase is reasonable. If you never plan on getting more than 185 on the bar then maybe less so.

    I ordered my Rogue equipment during their Black Friday special when 5 items ship for $5. The amount of savings was with the wait because freight shipping was well over $300. This might not work for the really impatient people out there but if you’re looking to save more I’d def recommend waiting.

    Nice set up. I canceled my gym membership because it got too crowded and couldn't get the equipment I needed half the time. My basement has 9ft ceilings and I have a full basement approx. 1700 sq ft to work with. I chose the RML-390 C 30 inch version. I replaced the pipe pins with the 30 in safety straps and also got a pair of spotter arms that I can use outside the rack for benching, bent over rows, etc. I swapped out the fat/skinny pull up bar for the multi grip bar. I like being able to do hammer pull ups. I have the rogue flat utility bench 2.0 and went with an Ironman 1500 lb light commercial FID bench. It is very stable and solid for incline/decline work. I also like doing body weight exercises so I was excited to find a Fitness Reality X-class power tower on craigs list. This is a really heavy duty power tower and very versatile for leg raises, dips, pull ups, push ups, inverted rows. The remaining items I use are a set of Olympic rings for strength, balance work and a Xmark commercial sit up bench with 12 incline positions. I have around 400 lbs of inexpensive iron weights and a set of 15 to 50 lb dumbbells with stand I got for $250 from a buddy. I would like to get some bumper plates for Olympic lifts and dead lifts. For flooring I also went with 3/4 in stall mats under everything. I bought 15 for my gym floor area with room to expand if needed. I just need to install some mirrors and white board to keep track of progress.

    • @fedguy9182
      @fedguy9182 Před 4 lety

      Renaldo cleophat Six more inches in depth between upright posts inside the rack. A 24 inch rack is perfectly acceptable to squat, bench, deadlift, etc inside the rack. The 30 inch gives a bit more room for bigger lifters or those used to a little more room inside. It was only a $20 upgrade to get the 30 inch cross members so seemed a no brainer when I ordered mine

      Me my gf and my brother pay for gym memberships. The only gym in traveling range is about 80$ per month each. We were paying 240$ flat fee per month plus fuel expenses to drive 30 mins to the gym and home. We all have different schedules and dont carpool. You can imagine the amount of money and time we spent going to the gym. Rogue isnt just a brand name, its a warranty guarantee from a brand that likely isnt dying anytime soon. I dont buy EVERYTHING rogue, but the foundation of my equipment is Rogue and its been a great savings for me and my family overall. We were probably spending more than 350$ per month total going to the gym and did that for 2 years straight before we invested in about 2000$ of rogue equipment and 3000$ of random filler used pieces of gear. In 2 years we spent around 8400$ combined for a regular gym where we fought for machines. In contrast we spent 5000$ for our current setup which will pay up in just over a years time and then we begin saving. Investing in a home gym is incredibly specific to your situation and buying rogue is not stupid if you do it right. Do I buy ever special edition barbell, poster and tshirt they make? No. But having a solid power rack and a few other functional pieces with a lifetime guarantee from a brand that has longevity is smart.

      You don't NEED dumbbells to get a moderately efficient workout. They are a "nice to have" piece of equipment. Get resistance bands and call it a day. Cheaper, easier to use and more exercises/uses than dumbbells. Don't even get me started on the storage benefits the bands will have over the dumbbells lol!

  • @danielweeden4957
    @danielweeden4957 Před 4 lety

    You have a nice setup there. Now you need some dumbbells and Standard Barbell are not Rogue plates but they will do the job. I have Standard Barbell plates dating back to the year 2000 before Rogue was thought of. In 2011 I bought 16 York 45's and 12 each of other weights down to the 2.5 lb. plates from a gym that was closing. They are vintage York plates made in the US of A. The 45, 35 and 25 lb. plates are machined on the back for accuracy. I gave the owner 60 cents a pound because of the fine condition the plates were in and Chinese plates were selling for 50 cents a pound then. I was lucky and about four months later another gym was closing. I got 4, 100 lb. CAP plates that --for some reason looked as if they hadn't been used much! I put them on a trap bar and walked them the 75 feet to door where I parked my truck. 50 cents a pound! As no none had used them much when the gym was in it's heyday, no one wanted to buy them either! Once COVID19 is done there will be many bargains again. Keep your eyes open! Would hooks on inversion boots fit over that bar? Great core workout with inversion boots.
    I imagine that you have expanded quite a bit since 2017. Nice video about the set up of a new gym.

    It’s a nice gym and buy what you want but if y’all really want to save some money, buy your equipment used. You can get some nice pieces (such as rogue) but if you aren’t worried about that there are plenty of others you can get that serve the same purpose. At the end of the day weight is weight and it will still function the exact same way new or used. If you have a truck you can pick it all up yourself.

      truthfully it would come down to how thick your pads are and how heavy the weight is. the platform just gives the floor underneath more protection. If you are going very heavy, then yes. However, if you only do 135-225 I doubt it would be needed with thick pads.

      Chief_ Trukalot It will handle any amount of weight you can load on the bar. Safety straps are rated at 10,000lbs each

      Ultranationalist, what do you do for a living? I only went to a tech school after being broke in my 20,s. I became a Plumber in my late 30s and make good money now. (80-100 grand) I think if you really want more money you can do it. I was a broke pot stoner working poor wages before that , it can be done if you want it. Don’t blame the world or rich people for being poor.

    So it looks like you don't have stabilizer bar I guess even though not bolted it's not necessary with the plate storage.
    Was thinkong of getting the 490 and in year or two get the back weight storage which you can get separately from rogue

    • @Pler1978
      @Pler1978 Před 6 lety

      I'm going to go rml 490 add weight storage posts ...and use spotter arms so that I don't have to worry about the plate storage taking up a hole thats needed for rod and pipe ...
      Use the spotter arms on the opposite side of the plate storage ...the plate storage seems a bit pricey ...
      The rml 690 is now 1400 so thinking of that since when you add the cost of the stabilizer and the strorage pins not as big a savings as you might

    • @fedguy9182

      1pwNz0mb13Z The R3 is a great rack. Smaller footprint and narrower overall width with 2X3 uprights vs 3X3 monster light uprights. This makes racing the barbell easier since more room between plates and j-hooks. Also attachmen9 will be a bit cheaper.

I still need 26-28-30 kg ... But you are right, most of the best exercises can be done with what you already have.

    I know you’ve posted this awhile back but now in 2020 year of the home gym, I had a question.
    Can you tell me more about those basic rogue plates? Are they like a deep dish? You know, flat on one side, like the classic plates in a gym. It’s hard to tell from pictures and I’ve heard they were a bit weird with dimples on their rounded edges or something. How were the tolerances? Thank you sir

      Sorry Luis, I'm not too familiar with what a crossfit gym would need. My guess is you would want to invest in some good bars and bumper plates since most of the exercises are barbell based. Rogue sells both in my opinion. Besides that, I'm not quite sure what you would need.
