My dad has that exact motor on a 17' jon boat. Dad was my fishing buddy, been gone 14 years. Can't tell you how good it was to hear that motor running, lotsa memories brought back. Thanks!
I have its 60hp Evinrude cousin on my Quintrex in Australia....still runs perfect.
I am sorry for your loss
I thought that 2-stroke oil was old beer for a sec there.
Me too
@@javasoccernut same here
Guilty as well- was expecting some pull tab Schlitz or maybe even Billy Beer seeing hows their in GA
Johnson beer......
Crack a cold one with your outboard
That Ga State Patrol sticker is a "safety inspection" they did on cars and trailers back then. For trailers it was basically check to make sure the lights work. It brings back memories of getting lights to work on each car I had.
Yeah I used to to do those inspections on cars and trucks and trailers back in the day in Georgia. In a way it was a good idea because it kept a lot of junk off the roads
Upload more man, your the only reason why CZcams is installed haha
I second that
Lol right?
Honestly lol
Totally true !
Ikr
I remember adding those cans of oil with my dad to the boats 6 gallon gas tank. He would always make sure I pumped in 5 and 8/10 of gallons of gas to put those cans of oil in… He was very particular. Thanks for bringing that memory back. He is 90 years old, can't wait to show him this video....
THANK YOU !!!!!
Previously I only watched your engine videos but now all I want to see is all these great boats you bring back to life
I've always enjoyed older boats, the curves, the design. Honestly in my opinion older boats look better than newer ones. Plus if you can get a old motor with manual shifting instead of electronic shift nowadays, then it's a win/win.
they made the mckee 14' up until i believe 1996!
42 year old boat. Wow that thing was built the year I was born.
Same here. Though that boat's in better condition than I am.
Same here 42yo, wish I was as preserved as that boat
has this boat even been in the water?? like ever?
offroadfreak8582 ikr
Not salt water that's for damn sure,
That's probably the first time it's ever been in salt. That's a great find
1978 the year I graduate high school. That is a nice preserved boat, motor, and trailer. Enjoy watching your videos keep em coming.
Johnson outboards, make a unique sound. Reminding me,of my late father. Greetings from Greece!!
Absolutely a great video! I love those models of Johnson/Evinrude outboards. They have a very unique sound and look. These were some of the best running before they they tried the ole 100/1 oil mix ratio that blew up thousands of outboard models when they went to the next model years after that one. I can seriously eat off of that powerhead. Super clean boat sir! You are excellent with your videos and content... please, keep going! I promise to keep liking your videos!
Unbelievable. It's like a times capsule. Everything is original. Good find.
A perfect boat to go out fishing. Lightweight, roomy, everything at hand, easily cleanable and with a great 2 stroke engine. What a find!
Phishing? You mean fishing
@@julp8728 a hahah, you're totally right. Consequence of modern times.
Absolutely AMAZING
I have a 1979 Johnson 35 on a 1979 Johnsen skiff. Motor runs great.
I love this! What a great boat for bullynetting! I have an older KW, stripped down to the hull and rebuilt it. Runs w a 94 Yamaha c75. Your videos have been extremely helpful.
I grew up in the '80's boating in the Manatee River and Tampa Bay on a Whaler very similar to this. Talk about memories... Thank you, and congrats on the find. 12 year old me is super jealous; 42 year old me is happy for your purchase.
I had a '79 Johnson 70 Seahorse.
Absolutely the best starting and most reliable 2 stroke I've ever had. It would troll in gear all day on my old pontoon.
My grandpa had a 1973 silverline Nantucket, and he was a “buy it once” kind of a guy, so he kept that thing PERFECT, and it is still super clean. He just sold it for $5500.
Wow!!! Went from the jungle boat in the last video to a cream puff find. That boat is mint! Love the drone views too. Keep them coming.
Nice find. Those older boats were tough as nails. I was lucky enough to come across a 1989 Crappie Master all original with a 1988 Johnson 88 SPL. Freshwater only. Matching trailer. It’s gets on up pretty good. Tops out at 46 mph.
We also have a 1984 Renken bow rider powered by an all original OMC Seadrive 1.6L
We upgraded interior due to weathering. Wouldn’t part with either one.
Awesome video brother. Great find. ✌🏼🇺🇸
Yeah it would be great if you could make more videos your by far one of my favorite youtube channels!!
It's good to hear people get excited about the things they do. You can tell he loves what he does.
You are a blessed individual feel blessed and take care of it like you were blessed. That’s a beautiful fucking boat.
YOUR the man bro! I can't believe all the awesome scores that you keep coming across.... True legend!!!
The cans of oil were really cool. The way they did things back in the day was pretty neat.
Wow, that's the best looking boat I've seen you bring home.
Most of the boats you bring home I'd be afraid to step in.
I love the retro! We all knew that straw hat was coming off!!
I think I water skied behind that boat in 1980 or 81. Great video and a great boat for someone.
Thats awesome! Great riding hull!
Ikr
Messaged McKee craft and see if they want to “buy back” a classic for the show room haha
Sometimes manufacturers do ( want to buy something early or rare back ) Goodluck. Trev. Mariner want to buy back nnos Mariner 1980 2hp w about 1/2 hour fresh water running in its original carton. T
Super cool find! A fun little old boat to cruise the lakes or rivers in on a summer day. It looks small enough it would fit in a garage to keep it out of the weather when not in use.
Recently bought a house in North Carolina on lake toxaway. It came with an original 13ft whaler with an Evinrude 40. That boat is fast even in the high altitude. The owner told me that he never serviced it since it was new in 1987. I don’t understand how it was still pumping water. But it was babied on a lake the boat still runs like new. The first thing I did though was have it serviced!! Lol
Born in 78 so it was a good year 😁 enjoy every video you make can't wait till the next
I LOVE that boat and the originality! a real beauty
Even the sound of the starter motor took me back to the day. Thanks.
the aerial footage is so awesome! love watching your channel
Wow a real time capsule 👍🏼nice
6 Pack Of Johnson Beer Lol!! Wow What A Beautiful Boat And Motor Sweet Dude!!
Great find. The hull design is a lot like my 16.9 mako. Great ride ,Handel's well and with a 40 merc.32 miles an hour..(SWEET) thanks for the vid ..
Totally Amazing! Like to see is buffed out and detailed.
Great video and sweet old McKee. They were trying to compete with Boston Whaler at the time. It did hurt my heart though to see that original, non-galvanized steel Holsclaw trailer get dunked in salt for the first time.
I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee old boats and motors! I watched a video of a 1937 outboard the other day it was amazing! The old motors are especially cool!!
I've got a 1958 Holsclaw trailer, they are built like tanks, nice find.
We just bought one, 1977. Not in this good of condition, but close. I love it already.
Goes to show you, if you take care of your stuff it will run forever.
That is true, but they don’t make em like they used to!
Amen.
wow, I love this boat same age of me, was born on 1978... beautiful vedio. thanks for sharing
Barn find! Nice little skiff...
Great boat , drone shots and music!
That is so cool!! Congrats! Glad to see more of your videos!!
Amazing vintage find! Love the content, thank you
I picked up a 74 and i love it. Awesome little boat.
I’ve just bought a 1978 Orkney Longliner 16’ to restore. Great find there mate. Regards from the UK. 👍🏻👊🏻
Hold on to this thing and keep it in good shape. These things will be like classic cars in a few years and start climbing in value. Awesome find!
Gotta luv the "flasher-style" fish finder. I remember those!
Buys a gem of a boat, freshwater its whole life, in which is why it is so fresh, instantly dunks it into salt water, that one hurt, good score tho! super cool to see something so old still so fresh
A Fine piece of American Steel on that back of that bad boy!
Steel huh?
At last a new vid to watch and wow! That’s so cool! The history of all the stuff on this boat is cool, honestly thought that was a six pack at first! Lol keep posting, love your vlogs 👌👍🏻
I’ve got a 86’ Johnson 20. Only thing that was wrong with it was the wiring. It runs super strong now
That is one slick tri haul fishing boat. It does bring back some memories of the seventies when my dad and I use ride in boats like that and fish.
What an incredible find. In the 90s my dad and I spotted a 68 13' whaler w/ a 40 Johnson in original condition. It took us a few years to convince the owner to part ways but we had it all the way until 2014 when it was stolen (and not recovered) from our driveway. Gotta respect the ride of those Mckee's though, currently looking for a 15/17ft myself.
The South Carolina State Equipment Surplus Auction in Columbia, SC has a few used McKee Craft boats come thru there, most have trashed engines but the hulls are usually solid. Several southern states purchased them rather than Boston Whalers, and McKee Craft designed a lot of their hulls using BW patented designs when BW went bankrupt and the patents expired, a person I helped bring back one was a really solid hull w/o motor, trailer for $650, 15 ' based on BW Super Sport 15'hull design. They have a website and auctions monthly, check it out.
Sweet boat. Love the old whalers and mckees
I love this dude! I have a 14 footer that I want to completely refurbish.
Very nice boat and motor. I’ve had a 76 Johnson 55 and it was so reliable. Love the shape of that boat don’t take it near salt if you can help it. Your wife is no bad either.
Man that is a time capsule!!!!!! Love those old boats!!!
Amazing brother I just found out your channel last night, and brother I love it! God bless you and keep the great job brother!! I love this retro boat amazing condition 😍
I have an older McKee Craft like this, a little bit bigger, center console. Nice solid little boats. Great find . .
I have just been waiting for the notification to pop up !
Me too!
That's in really great shape, probably the fresh water use and being covered most of its life. Thanks for sharing, stay safe.
That boat is an awesome time capsule in amazing shape! I was running a 1976 Renken 19 foot boat up until last month that was decent but nothing like this one!
That’s friggn awesome man. And two stroke 6 pack is just as cool. Great score dude!
OLD SCHOOL me and my buddy used to run around in the keys back in the day on one of these. Brings back memories
I have a 1966 Mitchell that I am working on. Great video.
Gotta 1977 McKee it's abused , that's all right, we'll see about fixing it up. New 40hp Honda 4strk ran it in the bay once with the 30hp Yamaha two stroke and I was impressed with how it took a rough bay. Plenty of power too.
That 55 is one of my favorite all time motors!
👍👌👏 Nearly immaculate condition! Congrats!
I am currently using/restoring 1980 CC 16' Mckee
Wow! I sure hope (and expect) you flushed out the cooling system after running it in salt water!!
And Trailer!
@@dlv444 Especially the trailer. It looked like the surface rust on the fenders went into over drive while they were out in the boat.
Nice boat, in free time look at my project boat from 1978, greetings from Poland!
Those Holsclaw trailers are some great trailers! Hauled a lot of motorcycles on their trailers!👍
I love your vids! Keep them up!
,,NICE, GOOD FIND..STAY SAFE AND ENJOY..
Need to get with Project Farm and send him some of that 2 stroke oil so he can do a comparison test with it and newer 2 stroke oil
its tcw oil (two-stroke water cooled). then obviously tcw-2 came out a few years later, then in 1989 or so tcw3
Wow what a great find. Love the boat
After watching this channel for a while I bought my first boat. Tiller drive old Yamaha in the back. Doctors orders.
Excellent find...hold onto that oil, don't trash it. a collector will pay good money for that
I have an 1986 McKee craft. Those boats where built right here in my home town of Fairmont NC
We have a 1981 Mckee Craft (center counsel ) 17ft. Just re-powered with a brand new 150 etec. Been in our family for almost 30 years. Such a rock solid, classic boat. Never caught on like the Whaler, but in my biased opinion, it's better.
That is a gem!!!! Perfect for the lakes
Great buy. Who ever had this boat really didn't use it tht much. I wish I can find a deal like tht. 👍👍👍
Definitely some old school cool!
Love the boat and the videos 👍🏻
You know those videos where guys take girl with "big talents" and drive bumpy roads? 4:12 :)
I had one of these McKee's for years. Safe and versatile but rides like kicking mule.
I added Nautilus auto trim tabs and a hydrofoil to my McKee Craft and it rides a lot more mannered in choppy conditions
2:08 Damn that’s a nostalgic sound my first boat had a 1978 Evinrude 55 was a great motor unfortunately sucked a washer from a starter bolt that had rattled lose into the air box and it went in the engine and damaged the piston and head of the motor
Damn that old johnsson 2stroke oil is so damn cool
My Dad had that same motor on a 1978 StarCraft Tri-Hull.
Good times
When his hat fell off they hit 31. Less drag I guess
Man you’d love my ‘78 20’ sea ray it’s all original and just absolutely gorgeous
Dude that is sweet! I have a 1984 McKee Craft. It is a great hull!
