  • No single work has shaped Western civilization more than the Bible. In this provocative seven-part series, renowned archaeologist John Romer traces the roots of the world's most important book in light of archaeological evidence. Exploring excavations at Capernaum, Romer searches for the historical Jesus of Nazareth and his followers. And at Antioch, crossroads of the ancient world, he delves into the rich, diverse traditions that shaped early Christianity.

The BEST doco EVER made on the Bible from a historical perspective. It was - and an in many ways still is - comprehensive and simply has not dated.
Its well over time for a modern revamp.
I'd love John Romer to do it again! Whereas Bart Ehrman etc can come across as somewhat combative towards the believer - and thus mirror some of what can be, the same forthright and inflexible behaviour.
I love the unassuming and respectful way Romer carefully lays out the history on location, regarding how biblical scholars and archeologists understand the Bible as a historical document.

Is the bad audio ( super weird loud music in certain areas) to keep googles licensed music algorithm from flagging this video?

It is humorous that he is basically asking “what is truth?”

Ye do err not knowing the scriptures.
Peter and Mark were indeed in Rome.
1 Peter 4:13 = The church that is at Babylon [an euphemism for Rome], elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.
Peter and Mark (and Silas) were in Rome together but nothing is said about Peter dictating the gospel to Mark. That's all guesswork. For all we know, Mark could have already written his gospel.

The title is deceptive, the contents are very insubstantial, and the audio is terrible. It's a waste of time watching.

This guy is full of beans. He creates a narrative out of whole cloth and expects us to believe it. I have produced hard evidence that his mythology is just so much wishful thinking by an Atheist in sheep's clothing. You want to convince me? Bring me the receipts.

@@donlitos - Carl Sagan said, "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. " I hear this guy spinning fales without a shred of evidence. Where is his research? Where is the documentation? He said that Peter was never in Rome. I showed where Peter, in one of his epistles, sent greetings from Rome. The guy is pulling Atheist fairytales out of his shorts. I'm going to need some hard evidence - not just "it's true because I say so". That dog won't hunt, monsignor.
