Always love your videos AMD! And it was nice to catch up with you last week! I love my Tundra TRD Pro for many reasons you pointed out, but still can't believe the "reverse D" defect I had on the hood emblem. It's definitely a solid truck and after driving the Ford F-150 and the Chevy Silverado this week side by side with the Tundra, it seems Toyota did its homework in coming up with a "balanced" truck that hits the sweet spot.

Thank you for the videos AMD. These trucks have issues and Toyota has really dropped the ball on quality control. I picked up my 2023 Platinum last week. It spent 4 out of the 8 days I had it at the dealership. Build date was 11/22. When I drove it home from the dealership I felt the suspension bottom out twice. Turns out that the air suspension was out of spec and it was not adjusted correctly from the factory per the dealership. They verified and performed a TSB for it. That fixed the issue. Then my A Pillar began to rattle incessantly. The dealer found that the clips were broken inside the A Pillar. The dealer put foam inside it because toyota told them they didn’t have the clips available to fix it due to shortages. The rattling continued. Then my center console got worse. They rattle straight out of the factory and it got worse in the 8 days I owned it. The dealer put felt inside. It helped by about 50%. On the way home from the dealership service the drivers side window started to whistle bad. I rolled it up and down many times and it wouldn’t go away. The next day I drove for about 2 hours and the front seats have a horizontal support bar positioned way too far back towards the seat back. If your anatomy isn’t just right, you’ll be sitting on a thinly padded bar. The seats are poorly designed with minimal padding. That was the last straw and I took a hit and sold it back to the dealer and lost a couple grand in the taxes I paid. Well worth getting rid of it. Toyota may get this right in a few years but I’d highly recommend staying away from this truck right now. We own a newer highlander and a Venza and they’re great. So im not a toyota hater. And I owned a 2004 tundra for 15 trouble free years waiting for this new generation. Very disappointing.

I also own 2 Toyota products 2018 tundra and 2015 rx450 h Lexus and sold my 2006 tacoma and love them all with very little issues. I think Toyota will get their act together ,it may just take a couple years to get the bugs out! If they don’t get their act together people will shop elsewhere. I buy Toyota because of their reliability, and keep it simple style ,and will continue to do so until they stop being reliable, then I’m done!

No v6 turbo is gonna be stronger then a v8. V6 truck it’s not a factory choice, it’s the government choice. The more technology it’s on added to a vehicle the more parts are going to fail. @TheMrDudiness Great comment. Unfortunately Toyota has fallen upon its old formula, using a hybrid more as a poor substitute for a super charger rather than for fuel saving. It would have been better if they used a system similar to the Rav-4 Prime that used the battery to give a powerful boost, and allow electric only operation for a few miles. This could have been done in place of a turbo, and the longevity of the V-6 might’ve been legendary. The turbo V-6 by the way was one of worst trouble spots mentioned by CU.

I wanted a Tundra for years; what's not to like about Toyota reliability, and full size truck capabilities? The issue is that I can not bring myself to pay the asking price for trucks for one; nor can I abide this move to turbo V6's as opposed to V8's. They are being marketed as equal power with more fuel efficiency, but the numbers I see don't bear that out. My V6 mini van get approximately the same gas mileage as my 6.2L LS powered car, and with that I get more torque and horsepower. The Tundra has been plagued with issues with the turbo since it was released; that in combination with "supply chain issues" and parts shortages means that you could pay upwards of 60 to 70, or even close 80k for a truck that may or may not be on the road long before a long down time. I get the warranty argument but down time means you're paying monthly payments and interest on a vehicle you can't even drive. I have a great friend that is as big a Toyota fan as I am and is so mad that he bought this truck. He paid about 68k, and put less than 5k miles on it before the turbo issue reared it's head and grounded him for 7 months. They supposedly had to remove the cab to get to the turbos and do the repair, and this was after months of waiting for parts. Part of the issues is this rush to push the green and renewable energy movement forward at a greater cost to the consumer. I am all for renewable energy and reduction of green house gases and pollution, but when the technology is ready and completely viable.

Did it bother you when someone says something about Toyota?
What he said it is true and it takes a while to get parts since Toyota has to replace the turbo because of the waste gate issues, the hot fix for it is an update which does not fix it but prevents it from happening while you have warranty, another smart move from Toyota 👍

Great Video. I am a new subscriber as I just found your channel and I'm enjoying your videos.
I have a 2008 Tundra V8 4.7 I bought new and absolutely love it with just about 180,000 on it. I love the way the new Tundras look but without that V8 option I will not buy another as I feel pickup trucks of .5 ton or higher really need that bigger engine.
Also I am not sold on anything Hybrid, it has its goods but also bads. Keep the Hybrid in the F1 cars and off the streets lol.
Anyway thank you for sharing and I look forward to watching more!

I was lucky to re-sell it for $2500 and buy a 2008 SE with a dealer-fixed 2.4L engine without the oil burning issue. That 2008 still drives like new at 210K and 14 years later. 0 issues.

I have a 2018 Tacoma and we all know where and how that oil filter service is done. And the Tacoma TRD Skid Plate has a door to access the oil filter. So, I wondered why you didn't show the location of the oil filter on the Tundra when I noticed the Tundra TRD Skid Plate does not appear to have the same door. Also, you didn't show us the Engine Compartment. (Always love to see the engine). And too, you show us the ginormous fuel tank but, what is the capacity? Maybe a "tech quickie" video to supplement?

I’ll keep my 85 and 88 running forever and leave them to my kids.
While some will really like this truck, I see it as a gigantic example of how Toyota lost it’s way.
    1. Expensive beyond the reach of 95% of buyers
    2. TRD Overbadging
    3. Fake exhaust noise- really?
    4. Poor quality control
    5. Electrical nightmare past warranty period
