The way you explain things really makes complex subjects more understandable; everytime I try to tackle edges I get so overwhelmed but the little fovea picture and explanation was truly eye-opening! Thanks for sharing =)

You explained this in such an intuitive way! I have a tendency to overrender and make everything super sharp. I really could be using edges more.
One thing that you didn't mention with the fabric on the Solomon J Solomon painting is that he chooses to blur the edge to suggest motion blur. Meaning that edges that go with the flow of the suggested motion stay sharper, whereas the edges perpendicular to the motion are more blurred.

To experience a painting or paintings that catch or really grab our attention. I think those things are different. And then there is focal points in paintings.
I think of Corot landscapes. They seem like there isn’t a lot of contrast but I want to experience them. I stand in front of them.
The painting you show, it catches my eye, the face and shoulder, but I don’t really feel called to it, to contemplate it. But you are explaining something else and yes, I want to learn this. But at this very moment I have to go on vacation where there is no internet. So, thanks for another great video which I’ll finish watching next week.
