Adding Roundabouts to Simple Maps in Illustrator

In response to another comment on the channel, this tutorial shows another technique for drawing roads on simple maps that enables you to add roundabouts, and other similar road features.

How do the ends of the straight and the circle join together into one object? Here a black line lies in the range of objects? Thank you!
