They had a technical problem. They couldn't hear each other, something like earpieces didn't work.
Great reaction! Mitch has talked a lot about being bullied and suffering from depression. I think it’s great when people who have a large audience at their disposal talk about their struggles and hopefully help others going through something similar.
It definitely helps and its great Pentatonix does this. 🙏🏽

Yes, we do claim Shawn as the first Pentaholic! I'm glad you reacted to this, even though it wasn't their best performance due to the technical glitch. I had forgotten that their visit to the Trevor Project was on this particular video! You can tell how the word "gay" was consistently cut out. But the message still got through. (Things have changed a lot since 2011). This performance, and the one with Nick Lachey, came earlier in the show that ends with the announcement of the already-determined winner.
Glad i saw it! Especially for the message at the beginning.

I watched Pentatonix on the Sing-Off when it aired. When they sang this, I really thought they chose a minor key with all of the dissonance to show that something is missing "Without You."
I'm so glad you reacted to this! Some people say there were some difficulties with their mics, but that only makes me, as a singer, think WOW and they still came up with this!?! That three-part chord toward the end was perfection. I see this song as a love song to the group, and when Scott & Kirstie and Kirstie and Kevin turn and sing to eachother, it still makes me teary. It was a shame that the opening part about the Trevor Project never mentions that it is primarily focused on helping young LGBTQ+ people have a place to get support. In my opinion, the show was scared of that topic, and I believe it had a lot to do with them not letting Mitch sing in his higher register, at least not until performance #12 Dog Days, which you just reacted to. I also believe, again IMO, that was one reason they did not get that original contract that they were promised, which was a very stupid move on Sony's part. They are a special group, and show so much love and support for eachother and for their fans.
It is a shame they did not mention that, could have been a great opportunity to raise more awareness for the community and maybe other networks would have gotten the courage to do so as well.

This is my least favorite PTX performance, and I was always so glad it happened after the voting (sound issues). Edited to add: It is a sad thing that the environment was such at the time this show aired that the producers decided to ignore the fact that the Trevor Project specializes in prevention in LGBTQ+ youth by just leaving that part out. Be that as it may, they did spotlight the Trevor Project which hopefully helped a lot of people.

There is a version of this they did in a parking garage. It is better because of the sound issues.
I never rewatch this one because it upsets me so much seeing the show talking about the Trevor Project without one single word about it being an organization focused on highly at risk LGBTQ+ youth. This was 2011, not 1981. Back then we didn’t “see” or talk about LGBTQ issues. Almost nobody was out, and a lot of people were suffering with no place to go, and nobody to talk to. “Trevor” was a 1994 short fictional film about a young person desperately in need of support that wasn’t there. The Trevor Project was formed in 1999 to fill this gaping hole in resources for at-risk LGBTQ+ young people. There was no reason to bury the lead in 2011. It must have been so frustrating for PTX to be forced to play such obvious word games to avoid mentioning the central theme of the organization they chose to support.
Didnt know. It is sad that major corporations do this. Probably a lot of footage ended up being cut.

Nope not their best by far.....I've read that their ear pieces weren't working .....but again I had issues with Scott always being the lead on every song. I recon that Mitch would have taken it to something special with his softer gentler vocal...just my opinion lol. And I want to say to you dear Saeed....I love your comments and analysis ... great channel 💓

From what I’ve heard producers didn’t want to feature Mitch because he was LGBTQ.
@@melissacoviello2886 I don't think that was the reasons because Scott is also LGBTQ, as were many artists at the time. Record executives were just too stupid to see their potential...and had no idea how to market them etc. We had similar record executives like that here in Australia.. But in the end 'Real Talent' wins out.
