- In the 1990s, Donnie Wahlberg was known as the bad boy in New Kids on the Block, but by the end of the decade, he had set his sights on acting. In 1997, long before he married Jenny McCarthy, Inside Edition visited 27-year-old Wahlberg on the set of “Body Count.” He discussed growing up in Boston and his career change. Asked whether there would be a NKOTB reunion, he said it wasn’t time yet. “Someday maybe,” he said. #InsideEdition

Donnie was the leader of the group, he sang some lead songs but he was not the lead singer. Jordan was the lead singer. This reporter is either purposely giving fake news, or she is not from this planet and she did not do her job of researching for accurate information. Because back then, the New Kids on the Block was the most famous band on Earth that even those who know nothing about the New Kids knew that Jordan Knight was the lead singer.
Facts I said the same thing even the casual fans knew Joey was the lead singer.

I’m pretty sure what they meant was He helped put the group together. So probably founding member. He is the leader of the group at any concert, cruise, most interviews. So he is in a sense the lead. ❤️
I don’t think there was a lead in New Kids. That’s what made them so good. They all had different personalities and sang lead on different songs.
Sorry but calling Donnie the lead singer of NKOTB is horribly misleading. He sang lead on a couple of up beat party tracks but the main bangers and ballads they had that were hits, those were Jordan and Joey, the real singers

Did you get 'tired' of doing the same thing or did yo' record label phase you out because y'all couldn't merge w/ the shift in music? Keep it real. There's no shame in getting phased out because it legit happens to ALL artists. No artist has a perfect career of everything being on the up, Donnie. Y'all were active from 1986 to 1994. Y'all did just fine during the '80s bubblegum pop teen craze. Soon as the '90s came around, things started to slow down. Styles of music changed. Bubblegum pop grew stale. The fanbase grew up. I don't know what y'all were doing from 1990 to 1994, but after 1991, the label started focusing on other artists. Y'all tried to come back w/ 1994's _Face the Music,_ but it was too late. Fans moved on. And guess what? It's not right or wrong because that's the way of the world. A lot of artists get hella jaded when they've passed they peak. It's not gon last forever which is why artists should always get they feet wet in other areas of the entertainment industry. You never know when the industry is gon phase you out so that they can make room for the next batch of artists. Ice Cube, Willard Smith, Queen Latifah, etcetera all did it the right way. The American music marketplace is extremely fickle. Also, New Kids on the Block couldn't sing, Donnie.
