Most of the time it's not that it's dirty, after a NES is used for years the pin connectors get stretched so the game doesn't fit tight and if all 72 don't make good contact you get a flashing or green screen.You can either replace the pin connector or just always use a game genie (Which fits much tighter than a regular game) just leave the code screen blank if you want and it will work every time even if it's wore out and stretched.
They released the NES2 because the SNES was supposed to be backwards compatible with the NES. It wasn't. Nintendo was still releasing strong NES games in 1993, for example Kirby's Adventure, so to sell the game to SNES only kids here's a cost-reduced budget NES model to pick up.
Get Sam's Journey for NES, Famicom or Digital for Emulation. It's very good. Mischief Castle is great too. Piopow Developer Jeremias Babini has unfortunately passed and is no longer with us so Piopow probably will not be coming out unless his family releases it for free in his memory as Digital or something. Sad.😑
Slightly nitpicking but the picture you used for the modded top loader wasn't the original Nintendo one it had a multi out port like the SNES other than that video was good keep on doing the good work

The button layout for nes games on the newer systems is awful! Great for modern games but pathetic for 8 bit ones. I can run through contra clean on nes or nes mini but can't do that on the contra collection on the switch.
Its a shame it is giving you some problems, when it was released in the UK, the consoles were made by Matel, and was super unreliable, so Nintendo had to make their own version, so at least you don't have to put up with that version.

the only reason i keep my nes is because of collecting purposes i mostly just play with my Famicom
