    Great video☝🏼and as a car guy your comparison is spot on. “If the Rolex Sub is a Range Rover the Pelagos is a Toyota Land Cruiser”

    "Stealth Wealth"... I like it. High end and tough without being flashy. Glock, Toyota trucks, Go Ruck bags come to mind.

    Recently picked up the LHD and it’s absolutely awesome. I will mention that the ceramic bezel is actually deeply engraved. It’s just that the lume is filled in and then made flush. I know this because after buying it when doing the WIS ritual of watching 200 reviews and reading every thread about a watch you just bought, even though you’d already been doing they for years, pre-purchase, there were a few people that had the lume fall out on a few markers (seemingly not massively common and warrantied), and when it falls out you can see the cavaties are quite deep. I guess they made them flush as part of that function>form aesthetic, as there would be zero compromise on viewing angle. Loved your review as always!

    Well done, mahalo. I have one, does not get a lot of wrist time, but will stay in the collection, at least for now. Really looking at the new blk Pelagos FXD, now that is a killer watch as well, with a different vibe. Thanks again for the video clip.

    This is the first video of yours that I watch and I really enjoyed it. Loved the comparison with the Sub, the side by side is very helpful, I agree about the evolution of the Rolex and the comparison with the cars. I already subscribed 👍🏼

    Nice review, I have also experienced the “look” when walking into a jewelry store that the Pelagos seems to draw out. I wear mine even under some pretty hard use. It has some scratches on the bracelet but holds up well considering it’s a daily wear watch I do not baby it a bit. The scratches I think give a tool watch some street cred.

      Love that!! Watches are meant to be worn and I love that all of mine have scratches and scuffs.

    Those lume markers on the bezel are inserts and can fall out. Ask me how I know.

    Oh wait. I just did the math! You’re the same guy who covers the Lexus GX460 ownership!!! Wow! As a fellow GX and Pelagos owner I see the connection. Both well built machines that while may not impress others if you know what they are then you know. Love your content! Keep going. Heck I think we might be fellow Texans as well!

    Great review of a great watch, the indices are not actually applied the are built into the bezel, I know this because because the 55 indice on my bezel came out, I left it back and Tudor fixed it under warranty. Knocked my confidence of the watch a bit tbh as I only wear it casually and it doesn't take much abuse but other that that I absolutely Love the watch

  • @desireless4092
    @desireless4092 Před rokem +1

    Love mine. It is exactly what I wanted it to be, nobody is paying it attention, no one is taking it serious, looks matte and has that machining detail on the bezel, crown, angles... I just love it, so much so I got the FXD Pelagos 🤣
    And yet the 42 still remains. I agree that if someone owns this watch and does not flip it, he truly likes it for what it is. Today it seems a watch is judged by how much bling it brings and what kind of exotic materials they can think of putting on, like carbon fiber and gold, but this - remains modest and humble.

    The SUV comparison is right on. The Rolex is always the flash and typically no cash -- Range Rover/Mercedes.
    The Tudor is subtle stealth wealth (actual money) -- Toyota 4Runner Limited/Landcruiser is spot on.

    Great video. Regarding the titanium weight, it’s not as light as you’d think. I’ve held a titanium citizen which is feather light. This still has some weight to it.
    I appreciate your video as it was one of the ones I watched and kept watching prior to buying my Pelagos last week.

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před měsícem

      Congratulations on the Pelagos! And YES. It’s not lightweight at all, it’s shocking how much heft it has. I wouldn’t even want to imagine how heavy it would be in steel!

    I can appreciate your vehicle/watch analogy. I agree- the Pelagos presents itself as a more purpose built timepiece- no embellishments or fatuous features. I wear mine almost every day and enjoy it’s light weight and “low vis” presentation. Had no idea the indices on the bezel were “applied” and not engraved. Interesting. Still, great tool watch.

    I’m currently shopping around for a good titanium dive watch and at a cross road between this or the Seiko Snr029j1. It will be a tough decision. This one does have 200m more water resistance although not usable for the average human diver, but the Seiko has the spring drive and grade 5 titanium.

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Those are two great options. The only thing I’ll say about the Seiko Luxe (and I say this as a Seiko/GS fan) is that I’d highly recommend buying from an AD to get the warranty, on the other hand, that means it’s $6,000 which is on the high end for a piece with the Seiko name. They also tend to depreciate more if that’s a concern. I like the straightforward buying experience with Tudor and the aftersale support of being able to walk right into my Rolex AD to have any of my Tudors cleaned and serviced, etc.

      @@joshswatches actually I walked into the watch dealer yesterday and found a mint pelagos 39mm that someone recently traded in. Price was around $2700 USD given current exchange rate. Couldn’t resist the steal of a price so I’m the new owner! I’m pretty happy with it to be honest.

    I agree with most of this, and if I was starting fresh I could see going for the Pelagos. But I already have the sub, I cant see replacing it with the Pelagos... I think I would have remorse

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před 9 měsíci

      I don’t think it’s a replace with but rather an add to for those of us who already have a sub. This is the kind of watch you take when you don’t want to wear your sub (biking, hiking, actual swimming/diving, etc.)

    I don’t know if the Pelagos is comparable to the Sub. I see it as a foil to the Sea Dweller, with less, unnecessary, depth rating! And, best of all, the cool 116600 reference not the 126600 cyclops, oversized, 43mm! It’s a modern, stealth wealth SD4000!

  • @johnrodgers6049

    I have the Pelagos 39. The 42 was just too big. Love it so far. The 42 looks massive compared to the Sub in the video.

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před 6 měsíci

      Hello! The 39 is great, I just wish they hadn’t cut the water resistance down to 200M to shrink it. The Pelagos definitely is bigger but the lesser weight of the titanium means it wears a lot lighter and in my opinion smaller than the 42mm would suggest. As well, my Sub in the video is the newer 41mm model so not too far off! :)
