    For short haired dogs, like Arya here, a warm dog jacket is a must, but it’s hard to find one that fits just right. We’ll show you how to make a custom waterproof dog coat with a layer of nylon to make it waterproof and a Sherpa lining to make it warm and cozy.

    Thanks so much for the specifics about measuring the dog. I'll be making a snow coat tomorrow. The collar is adorable.

    Thank you. Will have a go but my Pug Peggy, won’t be as calm as yours. I watched your Pugs face and wondered how it was still for a few seconds! My coat won’t need a collar but I’m relieved you measured and drafted a pattern. The sales of Pugs will also increase! I saw her then decided to watch your video, thanks, well done. Clear and easy to follow, understand.

    Thank you so much for a very good job on explaining and close up video of what you were doing. Could you also do a video on how to make a dog raincoat please? I would really appreciate it. Also where did you get the waterproof material? Again great tutorial video. Thank you for sharing.

      I would use the same pattern and just use a ripstop nylon or a flag cloth. You can find those fabrics here - www.onlinefabricstore.net/product-group-nylon.aspx

    Thank to you Sarah and On-Line for these videos.....I love the dog...adorable.I like that tool...Is i t easy to use and where can one purchase that....Thank you. P.S. I like the looks of your machine...what model of Brother is that?

    • @onlinefabricstore
      @onlinefabricstore  Před 4 lety

      Are you talking about the snap tool? You can find that here - www.onlinefabricstore.net/dritz-heavy-duty-snap-plier-kit-.htm
      And we use a Brother Designio DZ2750. I don't think that exact model is made anymore, but there are other Brother machines that are very similar.

    Hello. Can you explain why you cut open the fold along the centre seam. I cannot understand why this is done rather than keeping it in one piece. Many thanks

    • @onlinefabricstore
      @onlinefabricstore  Před 2 lety

      It is going to help it sit in the right place on your dogs back. It is also so you are able to add in the flap to attach your leash to the collar or harness your dog is wearing underneath. If you don't need that, you don't have to split that area.

  • @kelly7590
    @kelly7590 Před 3 lety

    Can this be sewn by hand if you don't have a sewing machine at hand?

    • @onlinefabricstore
      @onlinefabricstore  Před 3 lety

      Sure! It will probably just take much longer but there is no reason you wouldn't be able to do it!

  • @aditipandey8042

      And also I have a labrador so he gets all warm and sweaty very early so is there any other material that can be used for lining?

    • @onlinefabricstore
      @onlinefabricstore  Před 3 lety +2

      I would use fleece on both sides for your pup. Also you can just leave the collar out, just finish the opening as instructed minus the extra piece.

  • @RealGalaxyGamers

    Is this for beginners??

    • @onlinefabricstore
      @onlinefabricstore  Před 3 lety +1

      You can absolutely do this as a beginner! Just make sure that you are measuring twice so you only have to cut once. Also, here is the link to the written article if you want to refer back to a specific step - www.onlinefabricstore.net/makersmill/how-to-make-a-waterproof-dog-coat/
