Uh yeah I've tried to get my cats to help me out for years now.
But maybe trying to get them to go to the store for me is just too ambitious.
I'd try the light thing but I tend to sleep with the lights on. I'm going to say that's because I fall asleep reading & not that I'm afraid of what's in the dark.

Yorkies should never have a collar that is used, a harness is safer. (It is fine if it is loose and never used for leading purposes. However it would be much safer to not to). They are easily prone to collapsing trachea. Not only due to their small breed but the collar can cause trauma which can increase your chances of having it. ( Pomeranians are the same to )

I don't like having a leash connected to their collars. Because when dogs pull, the collar tightens around their throats, causing them to cough and wheeze.
Harnesses keep them from choking themselves.
We use a harness.

Most of these hacks only apply to small dogs. My dog is 90 pounds of lap dog. She's tall also. Even the retractable leash combo may be too small for her. The mouth brush is bazaar! The other issue I have is, it's never safe for a dog, to ride in the front passenger seat. Because of the air bag. Unless the dog weighs more than 120 pounds.
