  • In this short video I show you what happens if your heater blower fan stops working in your VW Transporter (T6). Settings 1 to 3 on the button were dead but the fan still blows on the max setting number 4. This is caused by a blown thermal fuse on the blower fan resister pack which is located near the passenger side foot well. Thanks to the team at CVS Canterbury for sourcing a new one quickly! 00:00 Intro to problem
    00:22 Testing resistor pack
    00:26 The thermal fuse
00:31 Shorting the fuse to test it
    00:40 How it should work
    01:05 Locating the resistor
01:19 Proof it is the resistor
    01:49 Unboxing new resistor
    02:11 New versus old comparison
    02:26 Corrosion after 5 years
    03:22 Fitting the new resistor
    04:25 Testing the new resistor
    04:51 Refitting the dashboard panel
    05:20 Part number for ordering
If your resistor fuse keeps blowing then it could be that the fan itself is at fault in which case the fan unit will need to be replaced too. Credit also to the VW T6 Forum: www.t6forum.com/threads/heati...
Common sense: In the video I have bridged the fuse to demonstrate that the fuse had blown and was at fault. However you should never use a resister with a shorted/bypassed fuse. Fuses are there for a reason!

Thank you. That looks just like the problem I have on my 2017 T6. 😊
