In this video, I break down the 2023 film for New England Patriots WR DeMario Douglas, one of the guys that I see breaking out big time in 2024. His tape is phenomenal, but Douglas' rookie stat line wasn't the flashiest, as he was a victim of horrible QB play in New England. With Drake Maye or Jacoby Brissett at QB in 2024, Douglas should explode.

Pop is gonna blow up once drake is under center, plus drake has mentioned he reminds him of his favorite college WR, Josh Downs

@@MikeJones-fz2mtsound like a Mac Sexual. Even Mac would tell Drake is the superior qb. Mac was basically Josh Rosen, a rich kid that was handed everything that never really love the game. That's why his teammates didn't like him and ignored him during the end of last season. It was borderline cringy to watch Mac play qb.

Douglas will look good with Jacoby Brissett under center.
It won't look great starting off, but by week 3 or 4, the offense should start to click.

His routes are a thing of beauty my goodness. Didn't think of him as a breakout candidate but those routes are undeniable.
Not to mention the nuance to his game

"...best WR Bill Belichick drafted since Julian Edelman." Sadly, we'll never know how good Malcolm Mitchell could have been. Other than him, that bar is so, so low 😂😂 I'm not hating though, Douglas is great. All you had to show me was that spin move 0:07 🔥🔥🔥

This patriot team gonna be a problem sooner than ppl think v very young team w a bigtime playmaker at qb coming up. Less than a year ago ppl were debating if drake maye should go 1st overall. He was on a bad team that had offensive coordinator issues. Yet carried them at UNC.

saw via rotounderworld that his combine was very similar to tank dells while having the better
    target separation (1.99 vs 1.67)
win rate vs man (38.9% vs 36.1%)
win rate vs zone (58.1% vs 44.7%)

Wait: there are stats that show (or you're able to see) when INTs are due to the QB & not the receiver? Does this mean the reverse is also true? & what about things like blocks no one on the o-line attempts? I keep arguing that while yes, stats show Fields holds onto the ball too long, 1) when he's forced to scramble because (multiple) players come at him 100% unblocked? Also after week 4 or 5 of '22 that stat shouldn't apply to him any more. That's when Eberflus incorporated ordering him not to throw to certain receivers on certain plays, so we don't know after that point if Fields was making those decisions or was forced to wait until he could read a receiver's jersey # before allowing himself to pass.
I am *not kidding* about this. One can likely still find footage of Eberflus refusing to answer questions about this from the 2-3 weeks following it & when fields publicly called him out on it the Bears went on a 3-game streak where they led the NFL in offense using a completely different play set. But since they returned to the old failed plays after week 10 it seems that those failed plays were Eberflus'.
This project would likely be way too much research to be worth it though. As for the blocks not attempted by the o-line, the 1st 23 minutes of czcams.com/video/FiiK21VzI_o/video.html illustrate what I mean, with a focus on 22:45.
While it's not likely that plays like that occurred Every Single Game the video-maker implies that this singular play occurs more than once in _that_ game, Week One of '22. How long does a QB have to experience his own o-line sabotaging him right before his eyes before that affects his footwork on drop-backs? & what % of plays include pass-rushers getting through to Fields 100% untouched that aren't counted by ratings systems because no attempt is made to block them?
Do you begin to see? He can't ignore that there may be unblocked defenders on any play so can't just drop back with any degree of comfort. He's been ordered not to pass to certain receivers on certain plays so we never know if it's His Decision to hang onto the ball.
The 1st game where he stops himself throwing to wide-open receivers was week 4 or 5 of '22 & EVERYONE watching that game _knew_ something was wrong. He was So Unnatural in his motion people at first thought he must have been concussed but we didn't see when. But the Bears didn't take him into the blue tent, nor after he did this at least twice more.
After that, everyone _knew_ this was a coaching decision, that Fields was executing Not Passing To Those Receivers As Ordered. Then the memes returned to "he can't read defenses," a Demonstrably False Claim (link if asked) & everyone promptly forgot all about this entire sequence. I can't guarantee that Fields will become the starter or ever get to start again, but if he does, I highly suggest you make a video showing exactly how the play-calling effed him up. But if the Steelers _announce_ that he *will be* the starter, then you may regret not having made this in advance.

Bill left Ðrake a nice gift before he headed out. A last 🖕 to Mac! Mac thought Bill drafted his childhood football teammate for him. Even told the media to call Pop Pop-Shotta (super cringy) 😅 Bro thought he was good because Bill drafted someone he knows. Bill had already identified Drake as the guy and drafting Pop now makes total sense. Like Drake said Pop plays a lot like Downs but is more twitchy. Pop routes are fluid and got great hands, can put you on skates and is not scared to get hit. Drake is going to unlock his potential with his arm talent that Mac only dreams he had. Drake Polk Pop and Baker. Those 3 with Drake will be scary trio for years. THANK GOODNESS WE GOT RID OF MAC 🙌

He's a good slot guy. Pencil him in. Really doesn’t matter much because if the Oline can't protect what's the point. That is where the wins and loses will happen. Oline play is paramount but this administration let it rot on the vine. They think WR's are more important by the drafting they undertook.

    • @ChewsCarefully
      @ChewsCarefully Před 5 dny

Ah, but if they traded him to the Steelers... While NFL coaches & GMs aren't likely to see these videos they *_are_** affected by* social memes & media. Matt Canada being chanted out of town proved this. So one has to wonder what teams are any good at assessing talent, even talent that they have. Kyle Hamilton, cripes, even Mahomes was seen by most as a dud. Baker Mayfield was drafted _before_ Lamar Jackson & has played better than him 0 seasons.
This is why I'm not franchise-loyal. Such cheering blinds us to teams with bad coaching staffs. So I'm playing "who is the better fit for him" if none of the Pats' QBs elevate him? I'm getting _WAY_ ahead of myself though.
