I love how ballsy adam has gotten in calling out the dumb comments and his confidence on film is through the roof you came a long way bro! I hope to be somewhere in your shoes someday
For the barra flywheel could you use wire like they do in aircraft engines? Wire the bolts together so they tighten each other if they start coming loose.
My memory is foggy but I think they said something about the clearance being too small to run bolt heads long enough for wire or something like that in one of the earlier videos, don't quote me on that tho haha
@@kiwicobra8742 You can safety wire EXTREMELY low profile bolts. I work on aircraft for a living and it really doesn't take much. You are talking on average .032inch in wire diameter, so call it a .040inch hole. I doubt those bolt heads are less than 1/4 tall, that is plenty of meat
Mike is a sick film guy, but I'm loving the more constant self-filmed content. Brings an old school LZ vibe from your older videos! Also, those frogs need their own shirt 😂
A&P mechanic here, the aviation world has a solution for your flywheel issue. It's called safety wire/ safety cable, it's also used in the racing/nascar world. All you need is bolts that have safety wire holes or you can get a jig to make them. You can get safety wire in many different sizes, best overall would be .32 safety wire of the stainless variety for 0 rust. Airplanes are under higher stresses daily, if it works for them it's going to work for you. No welding needed, removable without pulling the grinder out.
Just went back and rewatched you’re how to double peg video from 10 years ago (first video I ever watched of you) I was 14 at the time and now I’m 24. I’ve been along for the whole journey and I can’t wait to see what else you have in store man
Food for thought, lockwire is pretty common in aviation for bolts that are absolutely needed to be reliable and very easy to remove if you need to. You could find some lockwire bolts or just drill out your current flywheel bolts and lockwire them together and they'll never back out again
Movement ads are my favorite cause it reminds me of vlogs of the yesteryears and all the og’s remember movement and blue apron ads. And making stickers in the living room vids. Now shits sick!

Lockwire the bolts! I'm a helicopter machanic and there is so many bolts that require to be lockwired because of extreme vibration. Does wonder for keeping bolts from backing out. 👌 just make sure you always have it pulling in a positive manner aka pulling the bolt tight
It’s raining so much in Michigan that half of the roads are closed near me due to flooding. Luckily we have a bronco sport so we are able to get through the deep water 👍
For the mustang look at the race setups for some flywheels I've seen bolts used where you run a wire through them and link all the bolts together with he wire so bolts cannot vibrate loose to the point them come out which will help prevent your issue. Not sure what the method is called but is very popular on racing brake disc setups.
On the bmw cover the bottom of engine bay , from intercooler to balancer .. it will stop hi pressure air under the car stopping the hi flow through the radiator you need low pressure behind the radiator
Adam you should wire nut all of the flywheel bolts together, on E36s we do the wire nut on the oil pump nuts because at high RPM the same thing happens
Its not about ducting purely. Its low pressure vs high pressure. That massive open area below the crank is your problem. There is a very good reason OEM manufacturers put all those covers on the bottom of cars.... put something like that back on so you have front area intake IE the intercooler area and a smart exit like behind the engine or out the top of hood vents.
You can throw that whole carb in the ultrasonic bath just take the float and the float pin out then blow it all out with air that’s the easiest way for a quick clean
Adam, consult an aircraft mechanic regarding barra flywheel bolts, It's called Lockwire, it keeps aircraft bolts together, if you lockwire tight in the tightening direction with 32 thou lockwire, they will not loosen!
I feel like they’ve learned so many things from the FD world already that makes dialing in other cars so much easier and more fun. Problem solving and r&d is so enjoyable when you’re surrounded by people with the knowledge.
Haha imagine having a garage to escape the rain in... I could not even work on my car or record when this same storm passed through Jacksonville. The rain was going right through my carport lol.
2:33 It is the humidity, on the inside part of the lenses, that is causing that fogginess. In Florida, especially on hot rainy days, you better get used to it! 🙂 You can place the camera on your car, with the AC blasting; or turn on the AC inside the shop to help. This is because Air Conditioning takes humidity out of the air - that is why the exterior unit sometimes drips water out, and even on your car. Moreover, those "do not eat bags" contain silica. Silica is great to absorb humidity, and can help too. I personally buy cat litter, which is not that expensive, and absorbs water / humidity / cat pee efficiently.
What Adam says at 9:31 reminds me of the old school TJ Hunt install videos. He would say something along the lines of: Today we're going to be installing a downpipe. You may be asking yourself.. do we know how to install a downpipe? And the answer is no." LOL
Why was there an A90 supra at the end? Teaser for next year's sponsored FD car? I mean there was a poll on twitter bout A90, zoom meeting, hmm could be or could be just a massive troll 😂
How about loctite on the flywheel bolts? Torque them all down as should. Then back them out one at a time in order, clean the oil and put red loctite on them and retorque. If you are welding the bolts to the flywheel you are adding weight to the driveshaft and potential throwing it out of balance. Plus the heat cycle could weaken the bolts or the flywheel.
@@merkantelismo I'm an aircraft mechanic we use it on rotating masses all the time if not 40 than 30. You just have to get holes drilled horizontally through the head of the bolt then attach them all to each other.
