- For my first solo wild camping trip in Scotland I decide to camp in The Lost Valley, Glencoe.
The Lost Valley (Coire Gabhail) is the hidden valley where the MacDonalds of Glen Coe are said to have hidden their rustled cattle. It’s also where the remaining members of the MacDonald clan fled and took refuge in the aftermath of the massacre of 1692

I can't believe how stunning the scenery is. Shot so will with the drone and the different locations. This was just a gorgeous video. And no matter how remote you cross paths with another human. All in all a very nice video.
Thanks! Amazing location isn’t it?! Not as remote as it looks though, only about a 45-60min hike in from a very busy tourist road.

What an absolutely stunning place!!! Drinking (crappy) coffee and reading in a tent while the rain patters down sounds like an incredible way to spend a morning! I'm hoping to do the Glencoe Skyline in a few years, now I'm more determined than ever!

That was epic. Loved your angles on the drone and to answer the question about the packing up. I think it depends on the location and the kit required - how critical the weather may have been etc or maybe most importantly if the topic has not been covered a million and more times, that said your perspective can always be an eye opener with a different approach. Like our water based content how many ppl in the UK are packing out for that type of trip.

Hi great video your drone footage is amazing ,I camped in the hidden valley early this year it was stunning it has an eary feeling about it I camped close to the gauge and the top had snow on it just beautiful one of my best camps in glencoe 👍🙌👏

I have done thiis walk dozens of times , and when I started doing it in the 60's , the main way up was the river bed through the boulders , but the vegetation is very much heavier than then .it still is the most incredible place . thank you

Great video, you captured the lost valley in all its glory. Incredible drone shots. I would recommend a wild camp on the summit of Suilven or Stac Pollaidh. Another amazing area of Scotland. 🏴👍

Truly beautiful country! It's very different than where I camped this weekend. I was up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains camping among the Sequoias. With the exception of the crazy chipmunks, it was very peaceful staying below these living giants.

That was my first choice for pitching, the grassy island behind the big rock? But ended up going for slightly more sheltered location, was quite windy.

Some of the best camera shots of the Hidden Valley that i have seen to date, really beautiful. Your very lucky not having a rain jacket, i have hardly known two days in a row where it has not rained in Scotland. You have to visit Knoydart, some beautiful hidden beaches in the middle of nowhere surrounded by mountains. Bill.

In answer to your question, I personally am not bothered watching people setup or pack up but I do like to see the setup and see the site is cleared afterwards... call me fickle.
Great viewing and brilliant drone work too, it's given me a push to try more with my wee one on my next trip.

Great videos. Thanks! If you ever visit the US I would recommend the Four Corners in the South West. Full of diverse geology and there is a sense of complete solitude and silence in some of the canyons. And there are lots of Native American ruins to discover.

Camped the valley last Friday in insane rain and wind. Were kept awake all night with a chorus of Deer shagging. Fun.

Cracking spot for a pitch. Def noted for future adventures on way to Skye, my usual haunt. English man did look like a serial killer to be fair.
Definitely one for the list! Possibly one to avoid in summer, carparks were rammed when I was there in middle of Sept. Would be amazing in winter. Haha I just assume by default everyone is a serial killer and then look for evidence otherwise 😂

Done the ROS last month what an amazing Hike 🚶♂️.
Stephen you really should head back up and make your way up to the bealach, the munros and other tops are absolutely amazing and the route back down the next glen is just as amazing with around 100 waterfalls back to the three sisters carpark.
100% I was really tight for time on this trip as the main purpose I was there was to shoot a race film of the Ring Of Steall Skyrace so didn’t have much spare time.
A work colleague done the skyrace you were heading to, he mentioned when he got back how brutal it was.
Really is a small world.

@@StephenJReid Yeh I lost my DJI 2 in Scotland on the Cape Wrath and I've had 2 replacements since. One was terrible and sent back as it had a mind of its own, Got its replacement and it decided to do its own thing and crash into a cliff. So I picked up the dji mini 3 two days ago and I'm hoping this isn't a (iphone update issue) if you know what I mean by dji to get you to upgrade??? 😁 as all were up to date on firmware etc. Looking forward to testing this weekend. Hoping the obstacle avoidance feature will help my flying! 🤣
Oh dear, well the Mini 3 is the best small drone they’ve made, it’s just fantastic so hopefully you keep this one in the air!
@@StephenJReid The hidden Glen is apparently awesome in winter! I find I enjoy the outdoors in the winter more than the summer, I have know idea why maybe something to do with the challenges? I remember the winter of 87 in your fare country, it defiantly snowed then 😆

Thanks! I previously took the much bigger DJI FPV camping, but only once as it added over 2kg to my kit and it’s really bulky.
Yes this was with the Avata, it and the Mini both fit into less space than the original FPV.

Concerning the story about the MacDonalds hiding their rustled cattle in the hidden valley......as you'll have witnessed from the trail that ascends up into the Hidden Valley from Glencoe - unless the MacDonalds had access to a Chinook helicopter - no cattle rusted or otherwise made their way up to the Hidden valley. :-)

I'm using the DJI Mini 3 Pro as my main travel drone currently. it's incredible for the size and money. Some other shots here were with the DJI Avata DJI drone but it's a bit more specialist

I've wild camped there 3 times, surprised you never seen or heard the deer which come of the hill top into the valley
