Damn that looks like a hell of a good time!!! So jealous here in Missouri. Wheelin in the snow is the BEST! Muddin is a good time but the clean up after sucks. The snow cleans itself. Great video.👍🇺🇸
Great video! You guys rock the deep snow wheeling rides for sure! Someone out there should consider running portals with 58s :)? My 54s on the RW2.5s were great on the snow despite no siping/grooving...keep it up!
I agree except portals along with 58's?! Parts alone will put you in what, 25 to 30 grand? That's a lot for a few " of GC. Don't get me wrong, love portals, just not the price tag.
Both have a great advantage. Tracks. So been in deep snow and they float and then be gentle at the same time. Tracks unfortunately can’t get you to the wheeling area if it’s on public roads. Big rigs big tires can get you to the wheeling area and take you home. But. Big tires also depend on horse power. The weight of the vehicle. So. Both in my opinion are awesome. Choose correctly for your riding area and adventures. Tried to general about this. My comment would have been 9 pages long if I was doing a full review. Keep wheeling everyone. Best adventures you’ll have. IMO. And where you’re wheeling is one of the best snow places in North America.
So after watching I still don't know which is better? Tracks or wheels and big motor? All my off roaring experience was 40 years ago in mud, sand, water and woods. I had a '66 Bronco, 3" lift, warn hubs, mud/snow tires, Craig power play 8 track and Miller Lite. Off roading was just getting popular in the Midwest back then.
One thing which might help you, besides big tires or chains, and I'm always curious why so few people use is portal axles. Stop trying to push (plow) your diff and whole axle assembly through snow/mud and get extra inches of clearance. Have a look to some 70'-80' designs of military vehicles like Tatra 805, Volvo TGB, Pinzgauer from Steyer&Puch, Unimog .. they all got extra clearance via portal axles, not via ridiculously big tires (and so huge mass to spin).
How wide are your rims? in Iceland we run for example 46 MT on 16 to 20" rims it gives you better floatation and also gives you better stability and steering when sidehilling with low psi.
Hmmmmm. Those are badass. Seems like some chains off a skidder would make a real difference for those bigg ole rubber tires. Then they could really eat snow.
I would subscribe to this channel if it didn't have all that screaming. Great music but not for a video like this. I want to hear the engines and people having fun.
I agree..love Aerosmith but not here.. or maybe turn the music down so that you can here it in the background but not so in your face. Hearing the people talking and the engines singing would be great 👍 love the vids
U guys realize it’s cold as fuck outside and the snow is up to the doors….he’s inside a truck filming. No exhaust notes or anything would be herd much. Only pussies say Aerosmith ain’t good background music for off-roading. Go watch your unicorn dreams elsewhere.
Some 6:26 depicts it nicely as big tires green Jeep tries to run where tracked one effortlessly crawled through minute ago. Both has pros and cons and are suitable for different use. But in deep snow I'd bet on tracks. Regardless I do not really like those with relatively sharp front edges due to small dia front rollers.
If u do go with track don’t be cheap not worth it in the long run the cheap ones fall off detract bind make so much friction and over heat the tracks and engine but if u buy a decent set of tracks they are excellent for snow
Love that FJ40, i miss mine.. stupidest thing i ever did was sell it because a blown engine and mega rust and no money to fix.. shoot me.. lol looks like super fun.. Music was way too loud.. Rather heard the Motors, and side comments.. great video still!!
That was awesome! But seeing all that snow made my balls jump up and hug my tonsils for warmth. Must be gettin' old or sumpin..... Howdy from, like, 75 miles the other side of the border.
Chains make u sink most of the time we want to float on top cause we are in 10 feet of snow chains also make a mess when your spinning them at high speeds. They don't work for what we do.
@@Devonradcontracting Thanks for the reply! I figured there was a good reason. I use them in 3 feet of snow or less so nothing like what you guys are doing!
There is a guy in the Shuswap that made a set of tracks for his from 144” long 2” paddle tracks from snowmobiles. They really go. Tracks definitely have their limitations but when they work, they really work. His Jeep is a bone stock tj rubicon when it’s on tires
@@Devonradcontracting yeah they don’t like side hills and icy hard pack. This why I’ve always wanted to stay tires. Down here the last few seasons we have gotten a ton of sugar snow with hardly any good base snow. Those tracks would definitely excel.
Skinny is good if the tire can reach the solid surface below. In this case,. That snow can be 5' deep, skinny tires just won't work. Hence the large, wide floatation tires.
@@melshingleton7865 👍 As long as you have enough “Paddle” and torque to keep moving fast enough and stay on top, then you are 100% correct. Otherwise ground pressure beat float in snow, every time. I think people still think about what they grew up with. Dad’s skinny bias ply snow ties on his two wheeled wonder 75 Ford. Tires have come a long way. So has HP.
That rule applies for driving on snow covered pavement. Thin tires cut through the snow to grab the pavement below. You want big balloon tires for really deep snow so the vehicle "floats" on top.
The only draw back to those huge meats is it takes a lot of pony's to turn them especially if your in 2 feet of heavy snow where the track is giving a more even footprint!!@
I think it's probably a good video but I had to stop at the 5 minute mark because of the music. I'm honestly surprised you haven't had a copyright strike because of it.
Nothing worse than whiny assss people complaining about something that costs them nothing! If you don't like the sound of that big V8, turn your volume down and play your own music. The video was great, lived the music, the engine sound and the occasional radio talk. It was all good and all part of what it's like to go wheeling, snow wheeling. We do the same stuff in Utah.
(sooo, yaaah, other than the music) the time energy $$$$$ put into these Jeep’s is impressive
Damn that looks like a hell of a good time!!! So jealous here in Missouri. Wheelin in the snow is the BEST! Muddin is a good time but the clean up after sucks. The snow cleans itself. Great video.👍🇺🇸
I'm sure losing tracks in 3 ft of snow sucks too.
Wow now that was some serious snow!!! Thanks for sharing the trip👍👍.
Mickey Thompson Baja claw is my favorite in the snow! Great content thanks!
Great video !! nothing beats horsepower and big tires
Appears to be EXCELLENT times being had!! Killer video!
That’s awesome all cool Riggs love em looks like so much fun I’m pretty impressed that little one on tracks is awesome!!
Tracks are the best for snow! I've never got my 1972 Tucker Sno-Cat stuck yet!
Love my old school LMC Imp with a few more horsepower. Tracks rule in DEEP snow!

Actually neither is street legal, both have to be trailered to the bush.
If you have a pickup you can put the tracks in the back and switch back and forth
Very cool and very nice worded 🛞 and the right gears ⚙️ together work well
Great video & great music with pretty girls !! Now this is what I call a trifecta 👍🏻
Awesome! I’m an old wheeler from Ontario. Would love to be there!
could do without the music!
Can’t wait. We need more snow. Going out in the h3 for sure this year
Damn, those tracks look SOOOOOO much fun! To bad for me I'm in So Cal! Not much use for them here. Keep crushing it! Liked and sub'd!
Nice. Playing in the snow ❄
This is hilarious. I need some tracks for Minnesota winters on my 4 runner
Super rad wicked machines. I want to put tracks on my 1964 mk2 Rokon trail breaker 2x2
the 49s on that green cruiser Putting in work!!!
i bet that the only time a dana 30 has walked around anything with 54" tires
100%
Keep it up man love watching dreaming of deep snow up here in gp
...I'm thinking Northwest Georgia Pacific???
Grande Prairie Alberta
I've been wanting to build a CJ-8 like that for snow wheeling for the last 20 years. Someday I'll have the funds to do it.
It all starts with one peace man...no time like the present
New sub, killer channel buds!!

Tracks do work great in snow. Just nothing else really lol
How much gear reduction do the tracks cause?
That’s my Dream Toyota. The green with tappers back soft top
Those tracks are just dominating
This video reminds me of when CZcams started... let's go boys and we'll see what happens and someone video this.Good fun guys!!
What the fuck. I'm hooked, getting a jeep soon. The winter is nasty here too it's gonna be a blast. Amazing content, I subbed keep them comming A++
I wanna know about the IRS in the jeep with the monster tires
What's the spare for?

How much lift on the tracked jeep/what tire size does he normally run?
It's a 6 inch lifts usually runs 37s
How wide are your rims? in Iceland we run for example 46 MT on 16 to 20" rims it gives you better floatation and also gives you better stability and steering when sidehilling with low psi.
We run 18 to 14 wide depending on tire size most of are trucks run 49s and up 58s the 46s just don't have the diff clearance..
That sparked when he opens the door to his Jeep
How stuck do you need to get.
Hmmmmm. Those are badass.

That 1/2 cab YJ looks just like the one my friend owned and I helped build ... was it originally built in Calgary?
Was built in kelowna
Deep wet snow those tracks clog up and freeze when it gets colder nice music and video!
what kind of air pressure do you guys run ? bead lockers and you can go down to almost 0.
We usually run 4 wrinkles witch is about 1 pound air pressure
I would subscribe to this channel if it didn't have all that screaming. Great music but not for a video like this. I want to hear the engines and people having fun.
All you'd hear is the motor idling in the jeep that we were taking the vids from. It just didn't work. There's no good way of getting footage.

Tracks are awesome way cheaper to build out a track Jeep than going up to 54 on a Jeep . They just don’t do good on ice.
The thing with tracks they fail so get some 44 or 49 inch tires running low on air pressure with a high horsepower engine and you'll have a great time
thanks for sharing awesome video and the music was a very nice touch
Who owns the Black 4 door Wrangler now?
Still running gamma goat stuff?
With those big tires. Do you drop the air pressure?
That is what we do in sand.
We drop the air pressure down to 9psi.
We run 1psi of air or 4 wrinkles in the tires
Snow wheelers love 2 songs; sweet emotion and slow ride hahaha

Great sound clip but I don't think you're allowed to use that
What kind of tracks are those? Are they any good?
They are mattracks
I’m down to go! Where are you guys?? This is bad ass!!!
Kelowna bc Canada
Great music
I’ve never understood the Jeep world, this helps though

See if you can get AvE and Dewclaw to join in or go for a ride.
Why is the jeep with the tracks carring a spar tire?
It's came usefull the one time the jeep broke all the wheel studs on the spacer. Wouldn't say it drove the best but it got to the trailer.
BIG tires
Low air
Light body
A few ponies
LOCKERS
Fun 😊👍🏽👍🏽

Does that 4 Door Jeep at 3:00 have IFS and IRS?
That’s what it looks like
Yes it does. It's all air adjustable suspension with a 502ci

Definitely is and it has rear steer wtf I need that

Tall skinny tires? Big wide fat nearly flat tires for powder or sand IMO and experience, sadly we've never had tracks to play with. 😜
Four wheeling in the snow is awesome but guys please keep off the snowmobile trails
These are not snow mobile trails this area we are in we are in are legal rights.
Deep powder? Looks more like 12" of snow

small or big tires dont good in deep snow only tracks work and some times tracks get stuck

Not even started to air down. So much more potential. 2 to 5 psi would of walked across the snow.
We run about 1ps in are tires 😉
Those style of tracks have always made me cringe. I could be wrong but they just seem like a mechanical nightmare.
I would rather hear what's going on than the music. It's hard to guess how much they're struggling without hearing engine revs.
So much more traction
Bet the guys with those expensive tires are wishing they put those Can$$ toward some tracks !!!

if you dont have traction ya need some speed!
