      IMO, completely unique instrument with a very unique sound, cross between guitar and mandolin with a little dulcimer 'chime' and a tiny banjo 'twang' thrown in!
      Much better sounding than a regular banjo!

    I love what you did with the tuner on the 5th string. Is there any drawback to doing it that way? I am building canjos with my 3 year old son and plan to graduate to cbg and banjos soon. We don't have a proper workshop yet but I want to learn and practice before we move to a house and get a proper workshop set up.

    • @morbanjo2503
      @morbanjo2503  Před 2 měsíci

      Thank you! The main drawback to using a guitar tuner for the 5th string is the need to drill a new hole in the shaft since the existing hole is too close to the tip. The new hole needs to be closer to the gears to line up properly. The advantage is not having to purchase a separate 5th string tuner.

      Thanks Stan. True about walnut but I think maple is even more dense and I often use it too.

      @@morbanjo2503 Yes that maple really is and a million fenders can't be wrong, but I just love the mahogany neck of my Martin mando. Martin had access to the best. I am going to recycle a really cool tenor banjo neck that I got off ebay for 2o bucks. It has a groove on the neck for comfort..can't wait to get my electronics in the mail.

    I see you’ve used the 5th string design I used on my banjo. It’s a great idea isn’t it.

      Yeah, I like this 5th string design. If yours was posted on utube I may have stolen it from you! If so, thanks! I've also used a tunneled 5th string design so the string goes on up to the heads. I like that a lot too.
