Russian music for whatever reason to me, really encapsulates the snowy winter wonderland feel. Dance of the Sugarplum, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Dance of the Knights make me feel like I'm in the Siberian wilderness just awestruck at the whiteness around me like the little girl in Narnia. In the middle of the night as a medieval knight or sitting at home in a dacha with the fireplace going as the snow falls ever so gently. And then the Russian folk music like Korobeiniki and Kalinka makes you feel like a carefree villager living in a rural part of the country singing along and dancing with other villagers who just got done with a days worth of hard work and just want to relief some tension. And then the patriotic music, does what it does best, makes me feel like I'm part of something bigger for my country the blood I'll have to shed for generations before me to live comfortably. There's just something about Russian music that really helps me envision a fantasy, or peaceful or patriotic feeling in a way that not even classical German music like Beethoven or Mozart can make me feel.
Thank you. This music really tells something like this. But do not think that Russia and its performers are something very different from european countries. We have some snow at winter but Fr/De/Fin/Sw/Swz have some also. We have incredible space even without Siberia but Fin/USA have too. Please do not think of us like of something completely different. Some differences really are in culture and traditions but that'all. Have a nice day :)

Ave Maria Caccini was actually written by the Russian lutenist Vladimir Vavilov. The recording of this work was released in the USSR in 1970 on a vinyl disc. Vavilov passed off his works as the works of great composers because there was a strict selection in the USSR and he was afraid that the public would not hear his compositions for a long time.

Although I did know the ones here and I looked into this video searching for the name for a particular tune I did know was Russian but didn't know the name of in order to learn to sing the lyrics and alas, it was not included, later I did find it however. Thank you for this video. I personally like you've shown 'Those were the days' is 'Dorogoi dalniyu'. It's a passionate gypsy romance. This is a genre of music that was popular in XIX century. Gypsies were popular in Russia those days for ther music talents and often were invited to perform. They shared the passion Russian people have too. And by the end of XIX century the genere 'romance' was made by influence of gypsy culture and russian music, it was a fusion. In 1919-1921 because of Revolution and dramatic changes the class of 'inteligencia' fleed from civil war and collapsing country. They brought to the west their culture and habits. And of corse they sang romance songs, like 'Ochi Chiornye' - 'Black eyes' and 'Dorogoi dalniuy'.
I'm Indonesian, but was living in Russia for 3-4 years a while ago. Everytime I heard one of Russian classics at streets and cafes it really gave me special feelings, there was always something warm in it and I ended up listening it before bed to have nice dreams. Can't say all of them had it, but in songs like Kalinka you can hear how much feeling Russian people putted in it. It's a shame that nowadays people straight up scared to talked everything related to Russia, this "new" conflict is surely awful, but people forgot how awesome Russian culture is. I'm gonna say this for all actually good people in Russia that didn't turned into aggressive "patriots" when war started - Indonesia loves you!
I'm American- and you are a superior guitar man! I love all these Russian songs- the Russian anthem is great too- there is so much culture in Russia! People around the world are very similar- it's the governments that can cause problems...
Brother, until you started singing, I was sure that you were Russian! (the accent gave out, but I swear it only added respect) ! I bow before your art! When you played "Katyusha", the tears themselves gushed from my eyes - this is a holy song, this is our heart.
I've been learning Russian, I'm American. To sing by far my favorite song, that being Katyusha. I sing it everyday, at work, at home, cuddling with my boyfriend. I love it so much, I wish we could all remember we were all allies once.
It's interesting how often I come back to watch this all over again!! you did a very very good job, thank you so much , I love all of these songs!!
Oh damn, I really thought the man is russian before hearing his accent. Listening to someone knowing so many russian songs and reading comments filled with wormth towards russian music and Russia itself makes me so proud! Thank you, I didn't expect it but that's what makes this feeling amazing 💔
Russia's culture is one of the richest if not the richest when it comes to music, novels, opera's, ballet's and every piece of literature, it is saddening to see that russian youth have no idea about all this and trying so hard to clone westerns... This heritage will vanish unless the youth wake up
Maxim Gorky is one of my favorite authors. Rimsky-Korsakov in music. In the good old days, we had inexpensive books on science by Mir Publications in India, and I remember they were written with humor, with beautiful color illustrations. I don't have them anymore. Lost!! Btw, if you like Russian songs with their translations, search for Tagilmann. One nice song is Zhuravli (Cranes) .... I think a major patriotic song for Russians. Another splendid song is by Ella Gonchareva, sung in honor of Yuri Gagarin.
As a westerner... I do not recognise this culture in our lands these past years. Do not imitate it, it is a cultural poison. If you wish to learn western culture, learn traditional classical western culture, it has value, merit and beauty. It will enrich your life. But stay well clear of modern culture. even a young western country, such as Australia (my country of birth) has much to offer, ballads and poetry, strong values, etc. but it is being erased on purpose. do not fall for multiculturalism. it is only a strength when you take the best of other cultures, but a recipe for eventual ethnic extinction if you allow the members of those cultures in your country, take the ideas, leave the people, lest you suffer our fate.
I have flashbacks to the songs “Katyusha” from music lessons. I remember those moments when you all the class sing to the music very well) I always really liked this song the most, and even now)
Russian music is so beautiful and refined, the secret lies in the melodies that enter the soul without obstacles - and this talented musician plays guitar so wonderfully

@The Adventures of Rocket-Tri Ave Maria Caccini was actually written by the Russian lutenist Vladimir Vavilov. The recording of this work was released in the USSR in 1970 on a vinyl disc.
Vavilov passed off his works as the works of great composers because there was a strict selection in the USSR and he was afraid that the public would not hear his compositions for a long time.

Russia's culture is one of the richest if not the richest when it comes to music, novels, opera's, ballet's and every piece of literature, it is saddening to see that russian youth have no idea about all this and trying so hard to clone westerns... This heritage will vanish unless the youth wake up
Thank you for your kind words.
