- We test all major 2023 flagship phones to determine which one has the longest battery life, and for that we use two separate tests, a lighter one for web browsing, and a more demanding one playing the same set of videos on all phones.

In the first test, they blur out the notification area showing the battery level. Seems a bit shady to me . . .

The test that matters for me is not done - modem. I find seeking for a cell tower can hammer battery life. A useful test would be a perhaps taking the phone on a repeatable journey and streaming say Spotify. If I were to do it, I would use a cycle loop that is about 4 miles with no cell towers in the middle. There would be cell hopping. Then after 1 hour, proceed to the more standard tests
Why are the top parts of all phones blurred???
I usually get between 39-44hrs (1 day and 15-20hrs) from my S23 (normal usage, no games) and up to 8hrs SOT... Had an iphone 13 for 1 1/2yrs and the battery life difference has been amazing
Ok, a brand new phone and battery lasts longer than a 2 year old phone with a 1.5-2 year old battery. And my new 15 lasts much longer than my 8 did! 11-12 hours screen in time.
My S23 Ultra gives me around 10h sot every day.
My Exynos S22 Ultra gives me with same usage and settings app. 7h sot
From what ive seen, the SD8gen1 version of s22u gives almost the same 7h sot, so...
The s23u is really great for battery. For me, its a 2 day phones if im not constantly watching videos
How the last but one in the web browsing test, the iphone 15+, ends up in second position? What kind of estimates are you making?
I always wonder what are you using second hand for while turning on CZcams videos on all phones...
You should make it same the display setting for youtube testing
This is a disingenuous inefficient test. Unless you will usually be at home with Wifi on the whole time and only use CZcams and browse the web. If you use mobile data,gps, tiktok, Instagram this will give completely different results.
Brother, i agree with you, but a real test will be very hard to pull off for a youtube video. He have to make an mobile studio and push it around the city :d
@@sancungbalaxy All he would have to do is use more apps other than CZcams and scrolling through the Internet. Instagram,tiktok, Twitter. And just turn WiFi off the whole time or midway in that same room he's in. It's not like he's doing it manually. He's purposely avoiding it.

@@ernstt1616 He will need 6 unlimited internet contracts too. We can never be sure those test arent fake, we need 20 hours of videos to be kinda sure. How can i know he didnt set the iphone volume to 1 while playing videos and the s23u volume to max. He even blurred the status bars off all the phones, we dont see the percentages, what connection he uses and all...

The Pixel 8 Pro has a pretty revolutionary screen in terms of power efficiency that’ll become standard on other phones too, so maybe a simple task like a video it makes sense it did so good since it’s not too intensive and takes advantage of its screen efficiency. When it comes to actually doing daily life things, you can see the other phones tread ahead
Pretty much that. As an owner of the Pixel 8 Pro, the idle SoT when just watching CZcams or reading stuff in browsers is insane, while the SoT sinks quite significantly on social media. Very happy with the battery life so far though 🙂
I was shockingly impressed with the Pixel 8 Pro. I'm eating some crow now.

@aditya127s This! The Pixel 8 Pro I have throttles A LOT after the phone gets warm, not even hot, just warm. All 9 Cores go under 1 Ghz, which is insanely slow when operating, and it has to reload pretty much every 3rd app I open, no matter what it is, especially camera and google chrome are a noticable performance killer tho.
Thank for taking so much time to do this. This is the most difficult review which most people avoid.

I'm going on my second week with my pixel 8 pro and my battery life is outstanding. I get eight to 10 hours of on screen time on Wi-Fi. Of course that's with everything matched out. Thanks for the video. I really enjoy your content. Keep up the good work

Guys, you should do a foldable battery test between samsung, oneplus and huawei, BUT do it 1 round with with the inside screen and 2nd with the outside one, so we can see how much the screen size affects the battery life.
I'm currently using the regular Galaxy S23 and I can even say that it has all-day battery life.❤
I get about 4 hours of screen time, but my battery's 3 years old and standby is very bad. Literally: unplug your phone, walk 10 minutes and you've lost about 6% by doing nothing.
I just got the Pixel 8 Pro and not happy with the battery life. Also seems to charge painfully slow with the standard charging brick (not quick charging).
I’m not trying to make excuses for the phone but do you think adaptive battery learning hasn’t been fully established? As for charging, yeah Pixel is among the slowest

@@superiortoall22 yeah it's possible. Just relaying my initial impressions. Out of the box I haven't been impressed with the battery life. I'm also coming from an iPhone 12 pro max which has some of the best battery life.
I have gotten 8hrs+ with mine since I got it. Use it on 1080p though since I don't see any difference. Coming from 6a that great
Yup, standard charging is very slow. I'm using a Baseus 65w Charger and it's much quicker. Charges 0-100% in around 85-90 minutes.

Tbh I don't believe in this battery test anymore. This is just how long a phone could go on a certain application or activity (and of course iOS wind because of the better optimization). In real world experience, it is still based on how the user uses his or her phone.

The highest ive gotten was 5h of screen on time on my s23. With 120hz, always on display, high brightnes.
I switched from a iphone 13 one month ago, there it was about 8h with low brightnes, no aod, no 120hz.
How do people get 18h browsing time?

Right now i have 20% left with 4h 20min screen on time, last 100% charge was 25h ago with no charging in between.
This battery lasts exactly 1 day if youre a heavy user with screen on time of 6,5h max on a 18h day.
High brightness, 120hz, mobile data turned on.
Love the pixel 8 pro. Swapped from iPhone 14 pm.

Pixel 8 Pro places 1st among all smartphones in display, 2nd for photos behind the Huawei P60 Pro and 2nd in videos behind the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) and before the 14 Pro (Max). Their test procedure insight is extremely detailed. Have a look 🤷
Yeh, Pixel 8 Pro has better cameras which takes better photos. Now, we have video boost which makes iPhone look meh in some videos. Except for the chipset and battery life, everything is better than the 15PM@@arjunsingh68112

Its worth noting thay the iphones are about a year newer so they have an unfair advantage when it coems to battery degredation

I play Block Crush, and, Painting by numbers apps. And they really drained my batteries really quickly. On, S23. Google pixel 7 pro and the one plus 8 pro too. Hmmm

The test looks skecty TBH cause they blurred out top half of phone in test and i dont buy it that s23plus dies before S23U as s23+ doesn't have higher resolution display and doesn't has as many features as s23U and 23+ has smaller display size.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max and the iPhone 8+ are my two favorite iPhones so far. I'm a Pixel guy but if had an iPhone it would definitely be the iPhone 13 Pro Max for sure!

We have seen many screen resolution tests, and they make a nominal difference if you downsize QHD to 1080p on-phone. They only make a difference if they are native 1080p. So the S23+ was favoured here and probably would have been last if native QHD. The iPhones are between 1080p and QHD. Of course, the iPhones had up to 15% smaller batteries, so did even better than expected, bearing in mind how people dismissed the iPhone 15 line before the updates!
Same question, In depth Tech Reviews results are totally different. This is not the perfect way of a proper battery test.

@@Aygross all phone batteries have their "full capacity" when they are new. The real test is how a phones battery ages as its used day to day...new phone tests only tell me from where the battery starts as it's first opened from the box.. The phone I'm using has a 5000mah battery and it's 3 years old. It still lasts almost 3 days of normal use. Why? Because I don't overcharge my phone battery and take care of it. New phones are all the same.
Im sure the guy didnt bought a new s23 for the test, its 9 months old and the oneplus is almost 1 year old. You have point here, comparing them to a brand new phones.

Getting exact same times to the same minute is super unlikely to happen once let alone twice. That's like guessing a number between 1& 10.000 correctly twice in a row... possible but unlikely

These tests are pointless lol it all depends on the settings people are using such as location and how often they use the camera. Also, everyone's cell service is different so these phones would all react differently per where they are.

It is no surprise for me that the much-maligned Pixel beat the over-hyped S23U.
Obviously, other YT battery tests have proven the iPhone 15PM is better than the S23U by varying margins, so no shocker there.
As I suggest, give phones a few months to optimise and be debugged to get the accurate stats. The S23U has not really improved; mine has lost 1-2 hours SOT since new, but the Pixel and iPhones generally get better in their first year before expected battery degradation kicks in.
So, yet another year, the iPhone hung on as battery champ, and Apple did not even need to push a larger battery as I suspect they were very confident even the A17 Pro would be enough to beat the SD8G2. Next year if they were worried about the hyped SD8G3 they can add 500mAh and still easily beat their main rival, the S24U.
Its the new iphone vs the old galaxy mate. S23U is 9 months old, we will see after 2-3 months how will the s24 compare.
@@sancungbalaxy The iPhone 15 Pro Max will be old then. So on your logic we shouldn't compare that with the S24 Ultra as that would be unfair comparing new with old. Of course, the reality is we compare what is around with what is around now. And that is the state of affairs. Not what will be in 4 to 5 months time.

@@andyH_England It wont be perfectly fair, but it will be better than this one. When s24 comes up, the iphone will be 3 months old. The snapdragon 8 gen 3 is released 1 month after the a17, while gen 2 is released 11 months before a17.

My almost 4 year old LG V60 still last longer than the S23 Ultra and Pixel 8 Pro...its crazy how good LG'slast hoorah phone is 🤯.
Even speakers and camera competes as well...and I can add a 1TB Micro SD on it and 3.5 audio jack with 32-bit DSP 🙃
LG phones were amazing! It's very unfortunate that they didn't continue with their phones.

This test looks VERY VERY MUCH FAKE... WHY only 2 or 3 videos running in the CZcams video test when all the phone lasted for more than 7 hrs?
