- Amka Kumepambazuka was a very popular patriotic song in 80's Kenya, sang by Muungano National Choir under the leadership of Boniface Mganga.
The song urges all citizens to work hard as nation building relies on everyone hard work.
This song, among others, was on heavy rotation on V.O.K (Voice of Kenya) radio station, which at the time was the only radio station in the country.

Ala! Kumbe nilitrend hehe
Who is still enjoying this with in 2021. It played on radio, every morning as i walked to school as a kid in early primary school. Great tunes that united Kenyans.

Good idea
During those days those were the songs alover the country.
My love for moi never fades. The guy was disciplined decent and generous.
takes me back in the day when this song would play almost daily on VoK radio Taifa before heading out to school
"wakenya ni Jamii moja"....wow!! Strange even saying it....how far we've fallen. To think that we once saw ourselves as one nation....sounds strange indeed!
These Dictator Moi era “big choir” propaganda songs about nation building were great songs!
songs that would bring Kenya together but never played today. so sad. no nationality feeling for our beloved country
Weekend is your day enjoy yourself but remember......Be alert and Keep alert.Good night.
Good morning Doc.
I was fortunate to have been there during his full reign. We will forever remember him. Memory eternal Daniel toroitich arap moi.

Muungano choir is undoubtedly the best choir we ever had. They don't make songs this way nowadays. Again the sincerity in the voices just made the message sail through.
True,,,, the way their voices sails,,,, wah only GOD can reward them,
Work is Sacred
I miss them days. The songs encourage Patriotism to me towards our beloved Kenya . MtunziThe late hon. Boniface Maghanga my former Voi constituency Member of Parliament. May his soul rest in peace 🙏

Every Kenyan should be listening to these words each day of the working week.
A mind blowing jam!!!! Back here on 2022 March Damn.....a deep song.
80's when Kenya was one and Kenyans were patriotic.. things went south in the 90's after the murder of the foreign affairs minister
Thank you Muungano Choir. This song has been waking me up this week. We need this song now more than ever as Kenyans
Manze this song used to annoy me hearing it on VOK. It was time to go to school kukula viboko.
Patriotic songs, Kenya beloved country, more love from Kuwait
I have fond memories of song which sang after lunch news everyday
Oh yes. Remember the trumpet one that played before the news?
During those days when I heard the song, I knew I was late for school😂😂😂😂 so I had to increase my legs speed 😂😂😂
Hahaha,,,,,,,,, after six & seven o'clock news in the morning,,,
the message is powerful. many may hate it because they think its sung to Moi. listen to the message which really suits kenyan people currently.

This song is golden! Why dont we hear these anymore?
BAD FOR POLITICAL BUSINESS. Post multi party politicians monetized politics and division.
No more patriotism
They were used to praise one person back then, thanks to introduction of multiparty democracy
@@kenngigi2470 : Really ? the message is very clear ,,,,, (Serekali ni ya wana Kenya wote,,,) kindly re-listen to this part so keen.

New Dawn.
Why can’t we sing these kinds of songs any more? They are truly inspirational! Even if you did not want to wake up, you did.
Because patriotism unites the country and that's bad for political business. During Moi days, tribalism was non existent. Post multi party politicians monetized politics and division.
NYARKANJIRA, Well said NYARKANJIRA. IT IS SAD THAT OUR POST MULTI PARTY POLITICIANS HAVE POLISHED THE ART OF USING TRIBALISM AS A MEANS TO ACHIEVE THEIR POLITICAL GOALS. I PRAY THERE ARE MANY MORE LIKE YOU OUT THERE WITH THE ABILITY TO SENSE THIS POLITICAL CONMANSHIP SO AS TO REJECT AND EXPOSE IT FOR WHAT IT IS. YOU HAVE MY VOTE NYATHIWA.
@@beatyfromkanjirakenya3738 You are very wrong that during the late Moi's regime there was no tribalism.Unless you were not fully matured or not born that you would say so.
@@beatyfromkanjirakenya3738 : I concur with you
Any One in Doubt?

Great clip for wakeup call
Yes Indeed.
Thanks so much for sharing this.
karibu sana Beti
Moi's songs but since late moi hand over to kibaki no songs again . RIP moi
No really but it's cause they were used to praise one individual but when multiparty democracy was introduced, there was no choice but to stop playing them.As far as I can remember there was a very deep debate in parliament back then to do away with such songs
@@kenngigi2470 : Listen to the message & what it really portrays
@@vincentmutiso2498 My friend back then most of the so called patriotic songs were composed and sang to praise one individual who was feared by many. Thanks to introduction of multiparty democracy which helped to do away with such praises.
@@kenngigi2470 Do you know that the so-called Multi Party Democracy heralded and solidified corruption and endemic tribalism. DEVOLUTION completed the chain of corruption. A cursory glance at POLITICAL PARTIES attests to my insinuations. Political parties are Tribe based. WIPER - KAMBA, ANC - LUHYA, ODM - LUO, JUBILEE - KIKUYUS, URP - KALENJINS, etc. KENYA is more divided than it was during the KANU ERA. Thievery has equally skyrocketed and distributed evenly amongst the genders.
it sang in the wee hours..
Mtunzi wa huo wimbo, bila shaka ni Shujaa,,
