    We just went through this. Don't let anyone bust a hole in your slab when you can just simply abandon and re route the line.

      It's get harder when it's a two story home

      @@haaatg Only in that there's more drywall repair to be done. But if you're repiping with PEX-A, running thru the ceiling of a two-story house is not an issue.

      Did you have the same issue? If yes, how expensive was it? Did insurance cover it?

    Fortunately most of my pipes were rerouted through my attic, everything in the floor was abandoned, if you have one that's leaking you'll have another, you're better off rerouting through attic space.. this does not seem like a feasible plan, also anytime you do tile work, it's always good to leave a few extras somewhere on the property, for roofing tile they usually stack them underneath the house...

    Thanks for this.
    I definitely have a slab leak in my backyard concrete. I have a good idea exactly where it is because I had a pinhole repair in that area a few years ago and water is seeping up through the concrete cracks. I'm thinking the whole 30' run of lateral copper pipe should be replaced, not just a spot repair.
    Can a new pipe be run without removing 30' of concrete? Or how about running pex underground? Or running pex through the inside of the existing copper pipe (which I saw someone on youtube do).

    Good video. Don't you have to braze the soldering since it's going to be under slab ? What kind of soldering did u use.? Thank you !

    How you know if drain or supply line has minor leak behind or inside concrete wall behind kitchen .?

      You will need a leak detector.

      If it's a hot water leak and you have wood or tile floors, you can feel the warm spot. My sister just discovered a hot water leak in her new home because the floor was 15 degrees warmer at the leak.

      @f.rodriguez8268  Pƙed 2 lety +1

      I did not I already knew I had a leak because it was hot water line and my floor was very hot. I did call out a leak detector person who confirmed I had a leak but he would charge me $2000 to repair it , the location where he told me the leak was was a different area in the floor.. not sure if he did that on purpose.

    Just reroute the line already! You do ALL that work put the cement back then get a pin hole 10' over from where you made the repair. It just makes more sense for all parties involved to reroute with pex =)
