Hi Suraj. You spoke very good English, easy to listen. You right. First, I watched the video carefully. When you pick the (counter sink emboss) and drag it out on the (base flange) you didn't release (counter sink emboss) yet . On the left hand side (feature manager design tree) change to (Library feature) and when you release (counter sink emboss) it change to (form tool feature). But when I do it. It doesn't change (Library feature) and (form tool feature) and I don't know why? Please advise

Great instructions! how do you position the form tool more precise, such as rotating it etc.

Nice video but a few tips to do it better. In demo you should have removed the vertical flat surface instead of the curved to make it more 'real'.
But, the main thing. When creating form tool it is important that the part that uses to build the tool hasn't any connection to the origion point. In that way it's easier to use.

You don't need to get rid of the block it works just fine with it atached so long as it's not before the stopping face it won't affect the shape

Sounds impressive. Is this kind of thing possible using CATIA?

Sounds good, but I tried making my own with 2013 and placing it on an angled face but it came out horizontal. Any suggestions?

Hi Mai, Sounds like an issue with your form tool definitions in terms of the stopping face and faces to remove, but its hard to tell with out seeing the file.
    Good luck

  • @scottsmith6358

I have made the form tool, I have saved it in the design library/default/forming tools/embosses. I have a sheet metal square tube made and saved. When I try to bring in the tool I get an error, "Are you trying to make a derived part?" Answer "yes", I can place the tool in the graphics area and do nothing with it. Answer "no" and the form tool opens for absolutely no reason. I never get the "type/position" table as in the hole wizard. What is wrong with my 2014 solidworks? Or what did I do wrong? I have followed all the steps in the video keystroke for keystroke. I cannot even put in any of the established embosses from the library.

Make sure in the design library, whichever folder your forming tool is is defined as a "forming tool folder", you could create a new folder for that. To do that, right click on any folder inside the library on the right, and there should be an option to define it, after that you wouldn't be asked if you're trying to make derived part, I had the same problem yesterday, good luck.
