    What I understood about ss and SSD is: I paid into it with every $ , with every paycheck paycheck. I thought it was my hard earned $ that will be there ( like a piggy bank)
    . To live off it as a senior citizen. I had to pay a lawyer to fight for MY MONEY. UNFORTUNATELY, they take a big chunk out of my SSD Ipaid into for 40+ years.
    Why did I need a lawyer to get the money I deposited for yrs?
    I have been hearing : SS
    is running out of $, therefore part of the money I earned and depended on as a senior, is going be cut.
    Where in God's green earth did my $ go????
    Who gives the government permission to dip into my savings account (SSD) and lose it!?
    Without putting it back!! Isn't that theft?

      I have issues concerning the use of the term " unearned income" and disqualification for many programs that are automatically available to SSI/ MEDICAID recipients who I don't think are drawing " unearned income" ( not directed towards anyone who receives those benefits! Just how the system differentiates the two ..)
      Also ,I have been SSDI Since 2005, and was a practicing Medical Professional when I became unable to work.I still hold National license but inactive status . I am at roughly 120 to 125 % fpl so uneligable for dual coverage as a QMB ,,Which would help me immensely with the 20% copays I'm very concerned about being buried under very shortly with surgery within the next month ,and others to follow. I don't know how to go about getting help with this ,and have heard that it's a hit or miss situation,as so many who are dually covered are as "disqualified" financially as I am,and many are much more so. I have been on a low and fixed income for so long I have zero " resources"which id be allowed to have ,up to 8000,in my state..seems like I'm missing some information I really could use right now,that Would help me to achieve the help with all the copays I'm about to be bombarded with. I am faced with either forgoing help surgery would provide,which would mean continuing to live in severe pain which will only increase ,and going ahead with it and debt ,creditors calling constantly,ruination if credit scores and severe depression being added to my daily life. Is there help for this situation? Seems like I e been stuck here long enough to be " grandfathered " into both systems . Idk.

    I'm on social security disability for having 4 strokes , an intracranial brain hemorrhage, and seizures ( seizure free for a few years now) . I applied for social security disability and the case worker said 99.5 % of applications get denied. I was denied and then put in an appeal. It took 9 months to have my appeal reviewed, and I was awarded my social security disability. I had no attorney . I literally just filed out the appeal application and waited. I receive a " review " form every few years that I fill out at home and send it in. Basically, I mark the box that says I can't work, and I talked to my dr about it. That's it .

      Unfortunately, I listened to others and was told I should go through a lawyer. I did all the footwork and gathered all the needed information myself. The lawyers took 25% of my back SSD.
      A whopping $4,000
      That really hurt and made me a bit angry.

      It really isn’t risky to get a lawyer. They don’t get paid unless your application is approved. I used my lawyer that I’ve known and have worked for me for the past 25 years. My application was approved in 5 months. The most important thing is to have a justifiable medical history with consistent visits and treatment. Everything I handed over from the VA and my private practice doctors was enough for a first time approval.

    I was already on Social Security when I had a stroke so I'm not on disability. We find that many possible treatments are not covered by Medicare. We hear that they haven't proven effective. Well, after stroke most people can't work so can't afford to do them out of pocket so there wouldn't be a lot of evidence. Specifically HBOT, acupuncture, and in my case, Bioness or WalkAide would help so much. I would like to go back to my part time job and the Bioness would help me do that. I did try it and it worked but I can't afford to buy it on my own.

  • @Giblues
    @Giblues Před rokem +2

    The Social Security Disability approval process sucks. I'm 100% disabled tdiu and can't work & got denied twice and gave up. I've had enough work credits too. The ssdi system should be more disabled veteran friendly. Doesn't make sense.

    • @Giblues
      @Giblues Před rokem +2

      @Christopher Fanelli I talked to lawyers over the phone before & they said to get your VA doctor to write something about how my disabilities affect my quality of life and not being able to work. And my VA doctor told me they weren't allowed to do that . I told the lawyers that and they said they wouldn't be able to help me. The Social security disability system sucks & they seem to determine most people are able to work, even if they can't. Also heard some that got disability knows how to play the system, got lucky etc. I heard that years ago if you were 100% disabled through VA that SSDI would often approve you also, but they changed and don't care about veterans.

      Hi, thanks for your question. Since you are currently represented, we suggest discussing this with your lawyer for a targeted guidance.
      Also, our Social Security Disability Approval course will help you understand exactly what your attorney/representative should be doing to help you get approved, so you can make certain they are doing what needs to be done to get you approved.
      The course includes six interviews with SSDI attorneys, a tell-all interview with a former SSA employee, a courtroom recording of a disability judge, and contributions from 64 members.
      To get started, go to bit.ly/34wviJY.
      Keep us posted and let me know when you get approved so we can help with the next steps.

      @@matthewgoulden1713 It wouldn't make sense for me to apply for regular/early social security benefits now, since I'm already on disability social security. If I did, my social security check would be less.
      It is best for me to stay on disability social security, until I get kicked off, or turn 67, which is my full retirement age.
      If I get kicked off, then I'll appeal, which will gain me more months of disability social security, until my appeal is decided upon.
      If I lose my appeal, then I'll immediately apply for early retirement social security (and accept the lower social security check amount, for life).
      Everybody's earliest age for drawing early retirement social security is 62.

      Social security disability seems all about denying people that should qualify for it. They will use any little thing to say you're able to work. I'm a 100% tdiu disabled veteran that can't work according to VA, but ssdi says you can & its b.s.

      Don’t hire an attorney, if anything hire a SSD advocate. They’re actually educated on the up to date information & have access as to what may be holding up the process to relay the information as well, assist with making sure the paper work is being accurately filled out. I’m not yet applying but am about to being the process researching the information to hopefully be approved the first go around. CZcams videos such as these & many others are so informative & best part they’re free.

      Also, I wish you the best of luck in your process. Majority of lawyers won’t even take on a SSD case unless you have been denied minimum of one time.
