  • Here's a video of me and my Laser class sailing a Laser Radial rigged with a Club 420 spinnaker.
Comment below if you have any questions about it!
I'm sailing out of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

That was a laugh to watch, well done lads, what great experimentation, and it worked! Can you practice more and do it in a f4, bet that would be a tiring day! Back to pumping!

Nice video and nice mod... I love laser sailing.. and the small spinnaker is so cute in low wind!

Me and my friend are going to do the same except with a asymmetric spinnaker and a pole!

Awesome! Try and post some footage of it on CZcams. I think a lot of people would find it interesting

I have an old Laser and an even older 420 + spinnaker. nice to know the parts are interchangeable ! I would like to be able to get under the boom of the Laser. Getting on a bit. Perhaps I could chop them in two to create my perfect boat !

that's soo good! i wanted to do that with a stronger breeze but i doubt that the mast can withstand that much torque

Thank you! And yes it is risky to do this since you are very at risk that you'll break something. If you have an old rig though, it's very fun!

This is something I've wanted to try for ages, but I've only just really got the chance to look into it. One question: Did you not have to reinforce the mast to take the extra pressure?

I wanna buy an old Laser and do this, just because it's so hilariously absurd.

I did this with a topper in 15 knots and nearly snapped the mast!!!

You know there is a Laser II with kite and trap? It's much much faster than laser I and won't break your mast.

Genial ! Specially sewed for laser solo ? How do you unrig it ?

  • @captainsirjackchucklebutty6147

You could get disqualified with that one! Maybe get clear plastic so nobody will notice. xxxx

    how did u do that?

    • @stuartaft
      @stuartaft  Před 8 lety +1

We used a club 420 spin and put a block at the top of the mast to run a halyard. As a turtle bag, we used a milk basket and then tapped some blocks to the back of the boat for the spin controls. There was a lot more to it but that's the basic run down. I wouldn't really recommend doing it because we damaged the sail trying to stick a halyard thought it. It was fun though :)
