Let's just admire rowan that he never needed hints just to complete a quest without using that feature solving it old school the hard way, he didn't need the detective mode cause he is the detective all along.
Yeah the realization that he didn’t need a mode to be a detective.
Not to mention the attention to detail on the part of the devs, who actually put clues in for people to be able to advance though quests without needing to use detective mode (well, that or Rowan eventually started walking randomly until he landed on the next step of the quest, which is the more usual brute force way)
Hard-core mode!
Well Rowan just go around and around like quest that can be solve 5minute he need 9hour to finish it🤭😂😂😂
@@Elvalley I guess it's more attention to detail from the developers, he began to inspect for clues, if he wandered around like crazy until he came across the next point, he wouldn't even think of that.
"Ah, Adventurer! For this quest, you'll need to use Detective Mo..."
"Skip!"
Soon as I saw or heard detective I'd assume they'd say something like "detective skills" and I'd skip like "okay I gotta be attentive. No problem." Lol
Lmao, shouldn't have skipped
Exactly what he did😂
Yes. This is why he missed it.
@@Yogo.Gaming Then definitely ranted online about these exact quests saying they’re impossible and the game should have made some kind of vision mode…
"I am baffled and I'm impressed. It's amazing you got this far."
That's the best line.
Especially considering he’s at a higher level without using detective mode.
You forgot the "F&ing Noob" part after 😂
I know a lot of games use this mechanic, but every time I come across this clip, it makes me wanna play ghost of tsushima for some reason.
Nah "it's a core mechanic" *I can see why* is
Actually, the best line isn't in the short, but Ben later says "Also Rowan, a is to jump"
The most impressive part is the development team apparently included enough info to eventually complete the quests even without detective mode
Which means rowan just destroyed his chances of getting a secret achievement for completing everything without activating detective mode.
Either that, or he just accidentally stumbled upon the answers.
@@AzureKyle The more likely answer, because there were no footprints on the ground and he clearly didn’t have a fun time the first go around 😂
If I press R3 and see glowing footprints on the ground, when the effect ends there had better still be footprints there or I will be disappointed.
Witcher 3 actually did this. Every clue that would be highlighted with Witcher senses would already be visible in the world without you using it, meaning if you’ve got a good eye, you actually wouldn’t have to use Witcher senses to complete quests.
Honestly, props to the Devs skill with level and mission design if you can still find clues in the environment without using Detective Mode
In most witcher 3 quests I've done all the clues are indeed there even without detective mode. It's just that they're a lot harder to notice. :p
@@Sanquinity Damn, I was planning on trying that
But how would you solve the quests where you go off of smell?
@@eeeeee8762 Yyyeeaaa....those aren't doable without detective mode in a game. :P
Those modes need to go. Game development crutch. Boring AF too
@@ono1381 Witcher 3 does it pretty well, you can find most clues without it, though scent and magic trails require it, its lole your sniff button at that point
Now I want to see Rowan teaching Ben how to do it without Detective Mode
It can be like a self imposed challenge mode
Yes
Back then in first Assassin's Creed you could turn off all the game interface and you had to play literally by logic, listen to dialogues on the streets, thinking about the signs of person that you have to find/kill, search everywhere by deduction
@@azod9189 later AC games (odyssey for example) have that too
U can disable the arrow marker
@@Tomoki_Robo I mean all the game interface, like HP bar, stamina, markers with the map and all at once
The feeling you get after you play really well at a game and then find a game mechanic that makes the game easier is amazing
I played 60% of Batman Arkham City without the grappling hook. I quit playing for the rest of the day.
When i was teen i played Diablo 2 and was Hypes after Clearing Nightmare the First Quest my Paladin hitting Mobs For minutes so they would die and a friend came over and i wantet To Show him how good my char was He looked me in my eyes and goes are you trolling me right now wtf IS this crap He reskilled my char and i Tap all Mobs with flying hammers i was sad realy sad that day 😢
The fact that he is able to accomplish this quests without detective mode means that the attention to detail in the crime scene is truly incredible.
Or the fact that Roman is just incredibly smart (which he is)
The most annoying part is when the foot prints aren’t even in the ground and they just appear out of nowhere in detective mode
Seriously I hate that. Let me be clever dammit! 😂
What’s the game called?
Dragon age 😂😂
@@LavroseRovender It’s not a game, it’s just a parody of games like this. Witcher 3 is the most similar one I know of but they had a series for Witcher 3 parody
Imagine trying to save on resources fr💀
I’m honestly more surprised at the fact that he hasn’t even accidentally clicked the thumb stick and discovered it.
Yeah see I've noticed in the last couple years some players have a problem with that and I have to say y'all need to fucking relax.
I see some players randomly melee in shooters and my old man has a serious problem doing it when he's using semi auto weapons and it's purely because if he has to pull the trigger rapidly or while using a "1 chance or you die" weapon, meaning semi automatic, his entire fucking forearm tenses on a trigger pull and it makes him click by accident. Just, relax. The tension makes it harder to play in general.
Meanwhile I'm over here having to make a concentrated effort to click a stick down.
The first time a game told me to press L3/R3, I had to google where it is on the game pad. I would never guess that thumbsticks can be pressed.
Most players change the melee button anyways for reasons I didn’t understand but some games like this have auto sprint like COD you can put it on in settings
@@yaboiibfreezeGaming What's the default button again?
Ah yeah melee is R3 by default.
Stance change is kinda more important than melee so having it on the sticks is better.
But I would personally suggest getting your jump and crouch onto your bumpers and melee to your stick if you're using a default controller.
It gives you much more control over your basic controls and places your grenade usage to X and O. If you're using frags or throwing knives it's a lil bit tricky to use them but if you're using anything else it's as simple as tapping the button and making a last second adjustment to your aim.
Tbh the default controls for shooters is pretty terrible. It's functional but not at all optimal.
I've seen people do stuffed like this in MMO's before. And it still amazes me.
100% quarantee Rowan's gameplay, while frustrating, has been much more memorable
The fact that he’s a higher level as well is great.
That's what happens when you get into a bunch of unnecessary fights because you don't know where to go lol.
clocked 300 hours in Skyrim without knowing you can sprint. Mind was blown when a friend said that it was possible
Do people just not press every button on the controller to see if anything happens...
@@LordJazzI've seen a lot of people miss stuff that I thought were glaringly obvious because they just have no compulsion to experiment with things.
So, have you just been using Whirlwind Sprint only for all 300+ hours?
@@songohan3321what's that?
Seems the young ones don't know about experimenting
I like when Rowan gets angry just to find out Ben is in the right., still you have to admire that he got that far in the game always not knowing how the game works
He's a natural born gamer 👻
@@TrickOrRetreat while he is not smart about game mechanics i m guessing Rowan's character is really smart in day to day life, he is able to solve problems by working hard and actually doing the work
Sometimes I forget to use my points from level ups. When I add them, it feels like easy mode. But I also realize how many hours I’ve wasted on forgetting to strengthen my character and powerful items I had to give up. “It made me better, but I gave up so much on the way.” 😢

I played RDR2 like this I didn’t know that there was “Eagle Eye” until I looked up a tutorial for the legendary animals.
I like how that’s an honest reaction, you missed a core mechanic and still made it till here, you’re a noob but a good one.
Rowan: remmember the honeywood murder? That took me 18 hours
Ben: *WHAT THE FUCK, THAT WAS A FIVE MINUTE QUEST*
Like using iron sites vs aim assist on a sniper mission vs a large number of baddies.
Honestly If I it was fun enough to spend 18 hours on a single quest I'll gladly play it
"I'm baffled, but actually impressed"
I feel this way all the time playing with a certain friend who shall not be named
The impressive part Is that Rowan is actually higher level then Ben too haha
HEYY! THAT WAS PRIVATE INFO!🥺🤣
Oh no is "he who shall not be named" back quick get harry potter

Honestly, people have always told me to just skip the stupid tutorial but I never actually skip the tutorial because there’s always useful information
Bro was a batman/sherlock level detective if he got pretty far in the game without using detective mode, and kept up
Poor Ben, he was only three quests away from completing the "True Detective Work" Achievement. Rowan just had to convince him to turn Detective Mode on.

That friend that always refuses to play the tutorial and spends the rest of the game complaining about not knowing what to do.
And that friend skips all dialog and complains the story doesn't make sense?
I skip tutorials because it is too much to remember. I know nothing about the game and I learn many things at the same time. I would prefer tutorials which open when I try do something for the first time on my own.
@@Kamil-kv6lv Plus you can instantly learn all core mechanics usually by just looking up the controls or keybindings. Learn it all in 30 seconds instead of a 15 minute tutorial.
That one guy who missed skipped the dialog with the NPC that gave him not only the location but code to the chamber where a key quest item is.
I skip the tutorial and miss nothing i all you do is test what buttons do what and your good to go

ive barely even played the witcher 3 and that was the first thing that came to mind, lol
I see we're all on the same page with Witcher 3 lol
Dude went detective mode literally without knowing the easy way
with Detective Mode on, he's going to find the actual 4th wall and visit the dev team ^.^
this is me, ive played entire games to find out i could have done it in a third of the time if i knew.
devs of games should make both using that and figuring it out yourself in those types of quests
Ngl this reminds me of the time I found out Primitive Technology puts captions on his videos even though he doesn't speak. I was mind blown when I found out I watched over 3 years of videos without knowing what was going on

Love how Ben compliments Rowan and insults him in the same breath.
Ah, he's met my mother in law then?
That means this guy went on and *BEAT* all of these quests without seeing the footprint ls. Making him objectively *BETTER* than everyone else.

Playing without detective mode sounds like a speed running category
Plot twist : Rowan turn it off later, because it's not as fun as solving it himself
I can see rowan doing that hahahaha there a video of them about shortcuts he didnt do it
That strange feeling of being disappointed in a person because he is incapable of doing like the most simple and essential things like everyone else but then you realize that this person has lived like that for his whole life and somehow actually succeeded!
That's basically how I see most humans these days tbh.
He didn’t need detective mode, he is the detective
Props to Rowan for playing this game without detective mode ever and never using a guide or website that would have told him what to do
I had a friend in World of Warcraft that leveled their RESTO Druid to 70 by auto attacking mobs with his staff while healing himself. True story.
My god
That is actually depressing
Because I have a level 70, and he's just devalued it...
I kinda did this way back in OG WoW days.
I didn't want to guild, I didn't want to do group content (aka dungeons/raids), I just wanted to quest.
And when I ran out of quests I leveled grinding mobs. Setting up routes matching the respawn timers (which were FAR FAR longer back then than now) so I always had things to kill.
Often took me months to hit max level and get somewhat decent gear that way.
Then in Wrath, I did join a guild, did start tanking, did start doing Dungeons and Raids and all of a sudden was able to pump out new characters to level cap and geared for raids in a couple of days.
When I quit mid BFA, I had full rosters of alts on 3 different servers.
Back in classic wow, i didn't know about the reset option for skills, so I leveled until lvl 30 without using my skillpoints because back in Diablo II I had to redoe a couple of chars because I wasted skillpoints and I refused to read a guide. Good old days.
This is why i never skip videogame tutorials unless I've already seen them/played through them. But sometimes even after that i don't skip missions/quests dialogue just in case they give me an important clue, or tell me about a mechanic that isn't introduced until that specific part of the game.
Seriously I’m baffled why people bother playing games just to skip learning how to play the game. Especially when they complain constantly about things the fecking tutorial explained…
Even if I've played the tutorial, if it's been a while since I've played that particular game, on a new start, ill do the tutorial just as a refresher
I have always been an avid intro, tutorial, cutscene, and story line skipper.
You are absolutely correct, about almost everything you wrote.
There is a small hardcore group of people though, that is convinced, that tutorial scenarios do not represent everyday occurrences and the remainder
@@DeathnoteBBThe problem is when the tutorial is confuse. (Sabin Blitz FF6)
@@DeathnoteBB because games spend more time teaching you how to look around and move forwards than they do explaining combat mechanics and features half the time anyways
I often learn the basics from an online tutorial and figure the rest out myself. Its part of the fun to me.
The fact Rowan was a higher in game level as well
Should've included the part where Rowan finds a magic weapon that most people miss because they're rushing.
Bruh I felt this from one of our raid partners in destiny 1. We used the same party for almost every raid. We have a buddy who uses a warlock and didn't know how to cancel his "floaty" double jump. We played for about a year and a half, and get to oryx raid. This raid has a mechanic which requires a random party member to do a sort of obstacle course. We kept failing when he ran this course, and as parties do, we get frustrated. He asks me (another warlock), "how are you getting through this so quick?" I say " I just cancel my jump once I'm at the platform." His confusion and disbelief that you can do that was to say the least, was pure gold! I understand that "I'm impressed you got this far!"
"I'm impressed...OOOHH what a noob" Perfect

Red dead 2 and the Witcher 3 are the only two I know do this, and yeah it’s pretty cool.

Indeed. Lol.
😂 Rowan must be genius. If Ben doesn't tell him, he might finish the game without it. btw, already watch this but I still love it. All VLDL content never get old
What I love about some games like Read Dead Redemption 2 is when you *can* actually track things even outside of "detective Mode"(eagle eye) by looking for actual tracks left on the ground. Doing so is pretty challenging, but actually doable.
I only started using the hunt mode(I think that's what it's called) and dead eye after beating RDR2 twice and starting online. Literally never once touched Dead Eye in the story until my third playthrough and now it feels too easy.
Witcher 3 does it as well, which is quite impressive considering how integral Witcher senses are to most quests in that game.
This is like playing assassin's creed without eagle vision. Imagine those quests where you gotta find the target yourself.
What’s ironic is that most people spend the whole game in detective mode so they don’t miss anything
People don’t notice how well edited this actually is: it’s not a real game, these are all edits. Kudos man!
Shit you cappin
No way it isn’t a game??? 😱

@@ryan___ryan2711 of course there's not, but we as humans tend to just subconsciously not think about it

Rowan's acting is why Avatar is such a great movie
This could actually be a really cool Easter egg implementation, like if you actually solve instead of following the footprints it brings you somewhere with a better result
This is what happens when you skip right over the tutorial in a new video game.
Pro-tip: check the keybindings/controls. If a game had detective mode activated by pressing a button, it would show up in the keybindings/controls.
Sometimes you may overlook a combat mechanic though (like if parrying requires timing a block just right). But you'll usually figure it out. Plus I've found probably 95/100 tutorials to be a waste of time, and it's better to just go back to the tutorial or just lookup things online for those 5/100 games where the tutorial had some key thing that the keybindings/controls didn't explain.
I love this. I have several friends who skip game tutorials and later realize they are struggling because of their impatience to learn the game earlier.
he don't need no detective mode, he already got so far through the game
That "Oh my god what a noob" was from his soul
I love this video I also like when they start following ben stops Rowan and says x to jump hahahaha
"A, jumps."
"Oh fuck you man."
There’s a lot of things in a lot of games, which I never knew and I see people always do but then when I find out, I get so happy so I can finally be even.
How it feels when you look away from The Tutorial for a second
This is actually quite relatable 😂
Lol this reminds of some of the RDRO bounties bc I absolutely hate the ones where you have to find them by looking for clues bc it always leads you on a while goose chase and the detective mode is like eagle eye

"MISSION FAILED THE BOUNTY ESCAPED."
He aint noob, he playin on some sorta hardmode for the 'Don't use detective mode' achievement and you just made him lose.
He just messed up the hidden achievement of not using detective mode for the whole game.

I am impressed with the game as well. The fact that it has a detective mode and leaves enough visible clues that detective mode isnt absolutely necessary. In some games like this when the developers have a detective mode they can just add in the path to follow. Or highlight an object or person.
The fact that he didn’t use detective mode ironically made him the better detective
