- I decided to put myself through the amazing journey that is the new Imagine Dragons album. It left me with physical pain. There isn’t a single song here that sounds original enough for me to want to ever revisit, or good enough for me to be able to sit through ever again.

Personally, I loved Dull Knives specifically BECAUSE it was uncomfortable. I guess I relate to it because I feel those crazy emotions and mental health struggles. Is some of the album cheesy? Yes, absolutely. I typically like the songs that aren't made for radio better. They're good people, so that adds to my respect for them.
same, and giants just sounded really funny to me lol. maybe its cause i used to listen to them a lot when i was younger but i mean it just sounds ok, its nothing any other band couldnt have done but i still like hearing it from them instead of whatever the last two albums were

Something to note is that I saw his Act 2 review and it was a lot more open minded and there he wasn't even invalidating Dan's emotions there which shows he had grown since this video

It doesn't matter if the album had the greatest idea of all time within it; execution is meant to convey ideas, and that is where this album falls apart for many people, Brad included. Also, you can't "invalidate" someone's emotions. Those are the individual's possession with which lies within themselves; it is impossible to take that from someone, unless you give them amnesia or a lobotomy.

@@reduke literally no excuse for this video. There is a tasteful way to do reviews and this ain’t it in the slightest. I love brad but this video is not very good. The whole point of a review is to talk about every inch of an album and how well it all comes together. So while he is entitled to his own opinion and I as well as others should respect that, it doesn’t forgive the poor quality of this video in terms of being a legitimate music review.

Not sure why everyone is so critical about who they are or it’s supposed to be rock etc. Dan has had mental health issues and most of the songs are purely about how he’s felt the past couple years and others in similar positions. The lyrics are genuine and one of my favourite albums tbh

Probably the best album since S+M. Much better than Origins and I would say better than Evolve as well. Dull Knives is by far the best song on this, why you gave it a 0 while giving 2.8 to It’s Ok I genuinely cannot comprehend.

Well it's not particularly that he doesn't like it, it's that he's laughing at it and ridiculing it. No objectivity, just trashing on it. Saying "My ears hurt cause Dull Knives sucks and Giants sucks because screaming" without taking into account that this is Dan fucking singing his heart out on his life (My Life, Lonley), the loss of close ones (Wrecked), dealing with his disease (Dull Knives) and more personal things. Is it just cool to hate on imagine dragons like they are the next nickelback, lol. Wrecked is one of the best songs of imagine dragons discography. There definitely were some experimental songs while still having some songs that have a more original sound. At least acknowledge what is good and bad. It really does seem to be that you just don't like imagine dragons with the way you are criticizing/skipping the songs as you go through the album.

Monday feels like a group of 70 year old's tried to recreate an early Gorillaz song without knowing what make them fun to listen to in the first place.
I would say this is their best work in a long time! I like the direction Rick Rubin was pushing them in, they needed to take a LOT of leaps after the last dumpster fire that was... (I can't remember the name actually, maybe that's for the best), but here are my track rankings:

Such a bad take, you dont give a chance to half of these, i think you were just in a bad mood or you went into this way too fucking critical to the point where just appreciating a song is not an option. Maybe you had a bad day or you just wanted to get over it but if you listen to the the better songs of this album like DULL KNIVES (i dont understand how u gave it a 0 honestly) the vocal performance is pretty outside of his box and if he perfects it his raspy voice sounds so in character for these type of songs i think his voice is charismatic this way.

They either have to make music that is overblown and edgy to be different or full radio pop rock thats unoriginal and generic because if they experiment its just shit on for doing too much, and if they release radio tracks they get shit on for not being experimental enough.

Yeah this album wasn't incredible but this is just overstating it's flaws. You can't say this album is more generic than Evolve, or that origins is better than it. I guess if that's really how you feel but it seems to me you have to jump through some hoops to get to that conclusion.
I'm not going to suggest that you intentionally gave it a bad review for your personal reasons, but I could understand if someone thought that from this.

I want to say this. You don’t skim through the song you’re reviewing and then give it the score like what you did with wrecked. That’s not how reviews work. Movie reviewers don’t skim through half the movie and then give the score. Game reviewers don’t play half the game and then give their scores. You got to see what you like and dislike about it that’s how the score works. In my opinion the bridge was the best part of wrecked and to see it skipped and have a score below 5 is just wrong

I think this album is a way of showing how they feel. When he was scoring Monday he mentioned that everything feels predictable and unsurprising, maybe that's how the songwriter in the band is currently feeling. They're broken and they need help.
Which is funny cause that is literally the exact opposite of that song. One of the mist experimental songs (that still has a structure to them) that I’ve heard in a while.
I think the lyrics in Monday are kind of cute and actually really romantic

He can say what he wants, but that album is anything, but predictable. So his argument is pretty lame. You may not like the different styles, but it has a large variety of styles and techniques, so his argument is pretty stupid and actually wrong. In the end it doesn't matter, because they will continue to sell more than most Rock and Roll bands and those that sell always get criticized. There is a reason that they have 3 diamond songs and are close to a 4th and the only ones to have that. They are good and have a style that is liked.

Funny how he started off liking it, then he realised he can't say anything good about Imagine Dragons because everybody hates them. So he said, hold up, I need to change it but. Then gave all the songs a 0 or a 1 for no reason.
This had nothing to do with it. Even from the start I said something was off. As soon as I realized how little joy the album was actually bringing me, I was able to adjust the scores accordingly. The album has no flare to me.

well I'm not saying it's a good album or anything, but I'm definitely glad they didn't go in the direction maroon 5 went in.
Conclusion: Imagine Dragons fans are all children who can’t stand someone having a different opinion. They just say they are dumb trash talkers and that they are biased, not understanding any criticism and especially whining about how they didn’t even realise this video was edited.

Not sure what's with the absurd amount of dislikes on a video where someone is reviewing an Imagine Dragons record. Anthony Fantano reviewed Mercury Acts 1 & 2 and I didn't see much people complain there (nor do I know how many dislikes there were on his review). I just couldn't find the strength of listening to this album after the first few songs. I dunno if it's any better than Origins personally speaking.
Here amongst the praise for imagie draggies to say this album is wholly one of the most compressed and bricked out overproduced nightmares of pop music to date. The tunes are fine technically, imagine dragons are capable songwriters at a base level but pads and guitars and keys and backing vocals are all squished together and sloshy sounding, it sounds like every mid frequency is chained to the same overworked compressor and it just makes it so fucking grating to listen to.

As an imagine dragons fan I will say that I hate Monday
this is a terrible album, their worst by a mile. I laughed a lot watching your reaction to it, and agree with most of it. The only ok song for me is Cutthroat (thats where we disagree). Acceptable songs are: My Life, No Time For Toxic People (what is this title) and Follow You. The rest is completely dogshit.
Oh one thing to mention. the track Monday sounds like a bad b-side from their Night Visions era for me, for the instrumentals.

@@mandlybugy That is my opinion, everyone can have their own. I was a huge fan of ID when I was younger, but as the time passed I started to lose interest. I was hoping this album would be their best since S+M. I'm not here to hate just because, I truly strongly didn't like it.
