The reason some audio parts is out of sync is because the live performance in 1999 was released only as audio version first. And since it was filmed with a low budget 3 camera setup, as well as some other problems, Jon Schaffer didn't want to release a video version. But 7 years later the old record company decided to add footage from another night onto the audio from the "Alive in Athens" night, and release it as a live DVD just to get money, which caused a bit of a feud between Jon and the company.

It was also filmed over two nights, and footage from both nights was used and stitched together for the videos.

Pack 10s of thousands in Europe and can't sell a CD in the US. Best band from Indiana ever.

Maybe so, but I've got their entire studio collection, except this latest 2/EP album of earlier EPs.

I have all of them also. Even some of their side projects. Just saying, they never had the fame and radio play, in America, that they deserve.@@WhatDayIsItTrumpDay

Matt Barlow has the most masculine falsetto in metal.

      Not falsetto though.

@@Darker_Waters I know. It's head voice or mixed voice. I just oversimplified it. It feels kind of like a falsetto but tenser when I do it. Matt Barlow sounds more poised and intense when he does it. I think It's because he's got a much thicker frame than I do.

The ''Iced Earth - Alive in Athens'' album, in 1999... is one of the best live albums !!!! I would suggest you to listen/react from 'Alive in Athens'' album, the songs... ''Pure Evil''... ''Stormrider''... The Path I Choose''... ''My Own Savior''... ''Coming Curse''... ''Iced Earth''... ''When The Night Falls''... ''Desert Rain''... !!!!
Listen to these songs and be surprised at how good this Βand was !!!!

Id also would add " a question of heaven" To that list. Best live version of that song I think that barlows voice really shines on that one.

Excellent reaction, in my opinion the best live of the band, that concert is epic and not wasted, even some songs sound better than the studio versions \m/

In case you weren't aware of this, but Jon Schaffer, the rhythm guitarist, and founder of the band, was at the Jan 6th protest. Some metal fans, probably the ones who lean Left, have abandoned the band, but i just think that makes him extremely based. He's just an extremely patriotic dude. He ran/runs a US historic artifact shop whereever the band is HQ'ed at. This video is quite old now. I think it's from the 90s, as Matt Barlow temporarily left the band in 2003, but came back in 2007, but then left again in 2011. Sadly, after Jon's "involvement" with J6th, the rest of the band quit. So as of right now, there is no active band other than Jon. Surely he'll be able to find some musicians who don't give a shit about that stuff and join back up with him to carry on with Iced Earth.

Hansi Kursch from Blind Guardian distanced himself from him. Jon has always been a sentimental murrican. Prone to the delusions those kind of people fall for. But I still like his music.

Iced Earth is one of those groups that totally belongs to one person - the rhythm guitarist. Lots of lineup changes over the years, but still made great music no matter who was with him.
You should check out some of the stuff with the other vocalists too.

Gettysburg Trilogy from Owens. Pretty much anything from Block is fine. Matt is the IE G.O.A.T!

Matt Barlow in his prime, live, what the fuck? He's so good. I saw Iced Earth live one time and it was with Tim Owens. It was fucking amazing, but not the singer I wanted to see haha.
