    So your adding dry dirt as you move the 2×4 around? Your building up the low spots instead of digging out the high spots? Will the weight of the pool displace the fresh dirt you layed on low spots?
    I want to do it this way but wasn't sure if pool legs would sink a little causing the pool to be out of level.

    • @outdoorswithcam
      @outdoorswithcam  Před 3 lety

      I leveled the high spots first then put dirt infront of 2X4 as I go around and it fills the low spot. It was perfectly level when done. I made 6x9" pads I put under the legs. I did a video on it. Its on my page. No the pool does not displace the dirt. I did have that very thing happen with sand years ago.

      First step was leveling ground by removing dirt from high end to be at same level as low end? How do you get ground to be level, that's the part I dont get. I've seen tons of videos but they dont talk about how they leveled ground. My yard is on a slight slope, so far I've removed about 7 inches from high end and I still havent reached the level of low end on other side.from my calculations, I still need another 3 to 4 inches to go.
      Can you tell me how you would level the area? What is process you use.

      @@ericmuller3339 You have to use a construction level. establish the grade 1st. Put a a level on top of a straight 2X4 the leghth of the pool's foot print. You can also just use string. They make string levels to. Go from the highest to the lowest. Get about a one foot wide "trench" perfectly level to use as your "grade" then just work out from the sides. When you throw the loose dirt from the high side to the low side you will need to compact it. I use a sledge hammer and just drop the head on the dirt. Unless you compact it will give you a false level.

    Do you have any suggestions on how to set up this pool on turf. My ground is pretty level but if some areas aren’t I don’t know how I would level it

      Yes I do. Lay a tarp over the grass for a couple days. It will kill the grass. After died. weed eat it. rack it up trying not to disturb the dirt. First couple small pools we put up we just put them up over the grass. Well you could feel the clumps of grass under your feet. Every year we got a bigger pool as the grand kids grew.

    Hey, if you need an extreme leveling technique, try foam sheets. The sheets made for sound proofing walls. It works perfectly on uneven patios, concrete, etc...

      I have heard of that. But doesn't it compress under weight or kids jumping. That's what happened with sand years ago. It would move/shift under the weight of kids jumping

      "Duchess" is a Doberman Shepherd. German Shepherd Doberman Mix is a cross of German Shepherd and Doberman Pincher also known as "Doberman Shepherd". When we got her she was supposedly a full blooded Doberman Pincher. But when she got older it was apparent she was not.

    What kind of sands is good for underneath of the pool ?

    • @outdoorswithcam
      @outdoorswithcam  Před 2 lety

      I don't recommend sand. I tried that 10 years ago. I found that the kids jumping in the pool would leave footprints and results in uneven or pot hole like. I got away from sand. I know all the instruction say to use sand. It never worked for me. YOu can level dirt and compact it. you can't compact sand. Sand moves around when you walk on it. Think of a beach and footprints.

      Stone dust works a lot better than sand, it holds firm when it gets wet instead of liquification like sand does. You can fill in with gravel and cover with stone dust, then put down a couple tarps and you'll have a pretty solid level bottom. Some people use carpet padding instead of tarps, easy on the feet.

      They sell stuff called "Dolomite Limestone". It is a crushed stone product that stiffens up when tamped. I wouldn't build a base out of it but it would work great for filling holes.

  • @shaunlindsey9478
    @shaunlindsey9478 Před 3 lety +3

    How is the pool holding up without using sand? Also did you put the pool cover for the padding or did it come with a pad yo place the pool on top?

    • @outdoorswithcam
      @outdoorswithcam  Před 3 lety +2

      I don't like sand! I tried that years ago. At the end of the year after all the kids jumping up and down on the sand would move around and you would have low spots just like walking on the sand at the beach. Its perfect this year. Perfectly level. no low spots. We put an old solar blanket under the pool. Those cheap blue Tarps don't last long.

Between that answer and no support under the legs and no sand and filling low spots opposed to shaving high spots this is just too much lone wolf, renegade, hot doggin', maverick, play-by-your-own-rules madness for me.

      @@thebugalito Never use sand! I tried that on the first pool 20 years ago. After a month of teenagers jumping up and down the sand moved around. The sand moving from walking/jumping caused craters. That caused failure on the main seem because all the sand moved out from below it and had no support. Sand moves. Walk down the beach bet you leave foot prints. Don't try to claim weight of water will keep it from moving. Have you ever walked in the ocean. you leave footprints. When I took it down to replace it looked like surface of moon from the sand moving from feet. The pool does have leg supports under it. What are you talking about. There is a whole separate video on how to make leg support out of plastic barrels.
