Dear Anna and ladies, this is off topic but I feel like sharing and letting Anna know my progress. I met this amazing guy few months ago. We've been writing these two weeks and I was already in a better position (thanks to Anna and few other ladies on CZcams). I already knew what i was looking for in a man. He matches it. He's also a gentleman. I had a date with him today and all these elegance lessons came so naturally to me. Date went really well and I'm so proud of it. For a work bag I would AVOID truly light colours (cream Chanel bag, I'm looking at you) like the plague. NOTHING spoils an elegant look like a cream bag with dirt/sweat/grime/ink stains. This is a work bag we are talking about... Commuting, containing pens that may not always have their lids or have been clicked closed, stopping by the grocers/deli after work, picking up the kids from afterschool care (those grubby little hands could land on cream work bag at any moment), etc.
Instead, opt for a grey (wide array of shades) or a darker beige. MUCH more forgiving for day to day use as a work bag and yet still goes with light coloured summer outfits.

darker beige is my usual to go color. Excellent all year round really. But sometimes a bag can sneak in more lively colors in heavy dress code workplace. Why I like red or purple bags too. Navy blue or royal blue are great if there is the risk of leaking pens/pencils and such.

Anna is the second youtuber I have watched who mentioned this point. To this I say then what is the point of buying the bag then because you will hardly use it. If you are a collector or making investments that is fine but for work, it makes no sense. Secondly, will anyone especially the men whom you work with even know that your bag is designer and just how expensive it is especially in the case of a Hermes bag which is not labelled grandly.

I never put my luxury watch or cloths bags etc when I meet my clients, because I don’t want that they say that thanks of there money I m living “better” than them, they can stop the business just because they are jealous. I remember-that one day I met my boss in client place and he came with the last porsche, my client said to me “ oh you earn to much money thanks to the business that we gave you”. We need to be smart and stay strategic.
For work I m elegant without overdressing and I put my Apple Watch. I keep being pragmatic

You can get easily a good quality leather italian bag in an outlet for under 100 euro. I have 2 ;) 3 years and they look like new.

Most designer brands are mass produced and terrible quality. The affluent people I know go to individual, small family owned leather artisans for their bags, usually in Florence. Fraction of the cost, better quality but a few weeks wait.
I got my first designer hand bag when i was 23 and it was the Lady Dior in medium size, it was a gift from my ex and he got me some more and more and i also bought some more, i had about 50 designer hand bags and i can tell that i was happy when i got them but it was only temporary.. i only use 5-6 bags in a month then rest of them just collecting dust in my closet, and as i get older i find myself so peaceful in minimalist thing, now im turning 28, i sold my bags and only keep 6 of them, its not that im broke but what i've learned from my minimalist journey is stick to what you NEED! I still love luxury stuffs but thats what i paid for the quality..

@@chaskaabyayala3838 I disagree. I think we (the consumers) have convinced _ourselves_ that we "need" lots of things. Companies are entitled to advertise their products, and they have to create a feeling of desire for their products, otherwise nobody would buy them. But it's social media that has been used by _us_ to brag and make each other jealous and greedy for more. This is why bragging is NEVER classy. Quality over quantity, and a large quantity of high-quality products create just as much clutter/waste as a large quantity of low-quality products, when unused. You don't need any more than 5-7 bags at any one time.
1. Summer work bag (lighter colour)
2. Winter work bag (darker colour)
3. Beach bag
4. Smaller, classy crossover bag (for the city)
5. Backpack (for gym/sports activities)
And you can add one or two bags of your choice to this list.

Agreed. I bought a Kate spade purse 3 years ago and I use it EVERY DAY. I spend $120 (on sale) and have 3 kids. It has zero damage. Im honestly tired of it but it’s in great condition lol

KS is far from luxury. Coach is not either. Ralph Lauren has some class.

In my day-to-day life (office, errands, meeting clients,...) I am never without my trusted St Laurent sac du jour! Fits everything, not flashy, been wearing it for years and it still looks brand new! Highly recommend.
My favorite work bag is actually my least expensive one, which is the Madewell Transport Tote. Excellent quality, structured, can hold a full size laptop, and I have used it almost every day for 7 years and it looks better and better with wear! Best $170 I ever spent :)

For a mid-range work bag I LOVE Cambridge Satchel - they have a variety of styles and sizes but are all quite classic, and they have good longevity - I even had them fix a fitting for me in the store once and the bag was fine for another two years after
I love my Everlane tote bag for everyday running around. The leather has aged well, it has kept it's shape, it's easy to clean, and the straps have held up so well. It also has a VERY discrete logo. I've had it for about two years now, and although it is also the tote I usually take when I travel, it still looks fantastic. I can honestly say that I expect it to be a part of my adventures for another 5+ years. It was a great purchase.
For vegan version of a good quality and elegant bag, I would recommend Matt and Nat bags!

Fossil actually is really affordable leather bags. many have a very small or no logo at all. Very good quality.

I have a Coach leather tote in a light/nude color for the summer. It’s good quality, the logo is very muted (its perforated and no metal logo) and very inexpensive. I have a few LV canvas and Gucci leather bags, the Coach ones last me just as long.

As someone who travels extensively for work and requires a smooth transition from boarding to boardroom, I'll have to say that Tumi makes some of the best travel/business bags out there. My Sheryl Business Tote has been serving me very faithfully. It's discreet, practical, full of different compartments with both zip and magnetic closures. Sleek looking thing too

There are plenty of high quality bags $50-200 range. Even higher, but watch for them on sale. They don’t even need to be designer as long as they are quality.
One of my favourite bags is the Mansur Gavriel tote bag. It is classy, beautiful, durable and well-priced.
Another great option similar to the YSL tote is the Gucci Medium tote with Double G. Although it does have the brass logo on the front, I feel it's still fairly understated and classic. And it fits a 16" laptop. A big plus for me is that I've never seen anyone else with this bag, so it doesn't seem to be oversaturated in the market.

I came from a poverty stricken background. you never know how poorly you get treated from not having enough and people judging you on more than just your appearance, but also how you speak. I've been downright not helped in stores, followed around in stores , looked at with distain like gum on a shoe. Its taken me 12 years of therapy, soul searching a desire for better for my kids and taking Anna's class secrets of the elite woman to get to a point where I am today. People see me differently.

My current work bag breaks all the rules, and it's almost perfect.
It's a canvas messenger bag from Duluth Trading (best known for construction clothing for men). I call it my Tardis bag, because it really is bigger on the inside. It can hold: my laptop, iPad, phone and some random cables, a pair of shoes (I walk to work and change shoes), my umbrella, a small handbag with my wallet, a small notebook, and necessities, a 100% leakproof insulated coffee cup, assorted writing sticks, my "emergency kit" with touch-up cosmetics, spare hose, etc. ... and probably more. The bag has a wide adjustable strap, and zips completely closed.
Why *almost* perfect? The canvas shows no wear, but it has faded.
What I'm looking for is a small elegant bag I can either carry by itself or fit into my work bag. If I'm going out for lunch I need a few things, not my entire Tardis bag. The small bag should be elegant, but not scream "DESIGNER". The only initials I want on a bag are my own.

These handbags are very expensive, so for now I buy handbags like Furla, Coccinelle or Polish companies that make them from leather. For example, Kazar or Sabrina Pilewicz.

A Herm'es Leather gets scratched up as easily as a mid range bag. So Iearning how to take care of your bags and where and where not to wear them is important. If your going in tight areas or having to wear them outdoors Ieather handbags can easily get scratched and damaged.
There is many types of leather. For example Epsom doesn't scratch easily. You can do some research about this topic before your next purchase

This aIIows them to Iast many years Ionger. Most active women today are Iucky to change out their purses once a season. They tend to wear and damage them thru just daiIy use.
