The line "petrichor-stained destiny" goes super hard. Not only does it sound great, but the lyrics themselves are really clever:
For anyone who doesn't know what petrichor is, it's the term used to define the scent that typically accompanies rain - humans are also EXTREMELY sensitive to it, to the point where we're 1000 times more sensitive to the smell than sharks are to the smell of blood. The implication that you've managed to come this far and face the all-powerful god of creation itself because they specifically laid everything out in just the right way to instinctively draw you to your final destination like a shark smelling blood in the water is so cool
Kinda unrelated, but that makes me wonder why we'd need to evolve a way to detect a storm from that far away.
one of my favourite lines is “twisted garden, laced with power” because it really shows the contrast between delicate flowers and the indescribable power of nameless deity and the feeling that brings. “laced with power” makes it feel like raw power is delicately woven into the garden, interlacing the flowers, perfectly balanced and symmetrical, practically indestructable.

@@c.y.651It's the smell of wet soil, and humanity originated in Africa, so finding water while on long trips through dry areas is naturally very important. It's why people whose ancestors lived in deserts are more sensitive to it than others.
Gotta love how the Terrarian literally just shows up one day from thin air and starts slaughtering the gods and ancient deities for shits and giggles.

all fun and games till the wall of flesh went down and everyone else was just like "ah shit"
the whole path of progression is laid out by the nameless deity for the terrarian to follow along, as a series of tests to see if he is worthy. you can see this happen at 2:38. the clock attack appearing halfway through shows his control over the world the terrarian is fighting through, as he can manipulate the forward flow of time, and also how the clock ticks down towards the final test
So in a technical sense.....this is our ost?

In a way, this song not only represents the Player progressing, but Terraria as a game. When it first came out 12 years ago, it had nothing more than a few bosses and basic building mechanics, where people struggled against the Eye of Cthulhu and the final boss was Skeletron.
But now, look how far we've come. Terraria isn't some small sandbox with basic mechanics and a few bare bones bosses anymore. It's a massive game, and a testament to what a small game can become given enough time and hard work. A game with a massive following and with countless mods that rival or even surpass the quality of the base game itself.
And then there's us. When we first started playing this game years ago we all probably struggled against even the Eye of Cthulhu, barely scrapping by as the blood moon came down upon us and we were forced to barricade our houses for the night.
But now? Everything in our path has fallen before us, Not just the Eye, but the very gods that claimed this world as their own. We've torn through armies of Goblins, Pirates and Aliens like nothing, and even reduced Draedons most powerful war machines to nothing but slag and molten iron.
And now, with everything we've gained, we only have one more challenge ahead of us. The almighty himself.
Xeroc, king of the gods, and the final obstacle standing in our way.
Well, we've yet to beat Yharim
Nameless isn't actually Xeroc, they had to change the name, cuz the calamity devs didn't like that it was Xeroc cuz they wanted to do it or some such lol
@@tailpig6417 Yharim is far weaker than nameless or even just noxus, that's clearly stated in calamity's lore. It's just that since we don't really know how powerful Yharim is, it isn't really possible for them to actually make a Yharim boss, plus the Calamity devs wouldn't be happy if someone did it first, I think

"When the Calamity Developers created something greater than themself; which happens to be myself; to make the universe, I made the mistake of making everything way too powerful. After all, I didn't know the vision the game was meant to have. If we weren't to consider the vast knowledge of practically all of creation I had at my fingers, the only thing I knew was that I was powerful, and I needed to make a Game. So, I made several things powerful as well, assuming there were things other than the Terrarian who were supposed to be powerful enough to survive a test from me. When they recognized the unbalance, which I'm surprised they didn't immediately recognize, now that I think about it, they went and tried to fix it as soon as possible. A reasonable response, though their methods of achieving this, are not so much. First, they attempted to delete me. As you can see, that didn't work so well. Then they took the assets from my universe and formed a completely new universe, reworking everything, from gameplay to lore. I guess they needed something to replace me, and they created Xeroc to do that. I turned what little I had left of my universe into the Twisted Garden, and changed my name to Nameless Deity, allowing differentiation between me and Xeroc. And thats that! That is the reason why me and Xeroc are different entities."

I'd be lying if I said this didn't quickly become one of my favorite modded Terraria boss themes.

Hearing this before it just sounded like a load of noise but listening to it without anything else effecting it....This is actualy REALLY DAMN GOOD! Yourself and Heart did a fantastic job working on this, The music, The Lyrics....FANTASTIC!
Plus Doms work in making a really freaking good battle that felt like you were fighting an actual god, Moonburn for the pure ear-candy sound effects and this video editing...Incredible even if my head is now killing me but worth it!

Either way, Yeah the fights between Noxus and Namesless are 2 of the few boss fights I consider to be absolutely Flawless bosses and that's a small list so consider this one hell of a compliment!

it's so awesome to see, after listening to the in-game version of the song and speculating for months, that the deeper voice really is noxus!
3:22 This is my favorite part of the song hands down, because the mental image it creates is just so visceral. I picture two visages of Xeroc, the god and the devil, just intertwinging, merging and splitting, like a discordant caduceus, almost dancing in the most vile yet beautiful way possible. It makes it feel like whatever's behind that black rectangle is not so much a face but more of a collection of ideas of good and evil bubbling like magma. And then at the end of it all the voices melt into one. Perfect closure. Every aspect of the universe singing in unison a war tune against you.

However, the Terrarian is, obviously, a part of Vanilla Terraria. Even in Vanilla, the Terrarian is extremely powerful, so it wouldn't be a shocker if they traveled universes. Plus, if the Forge of Cosmos is anything to go by, the Terrarian has existed since the Big Bang, maybe even before then. So, yeah, while technically the Terrarian should be one of my creations, the lore from other universes related to mine proves that incorrect, and since I didn't create the Terrarian, I have no power over their actions, despite being countless times more powerful than they are."

As a newbie to Calamity, Wrath of Gods, and, tbh, Terraria as a whole (I've played it since i was young, but never really played it in the intended way, and if i did, it wasn't modded), may I say, Wrath of Gods is easily one of my favorite mods ever. Perhaps, in all honesty, one of my favorite "video games" (counting it, calamity, and this). This is my first real Calamity playthrough, and I've just beaten Destroyer and Twins, and seeing the Noxus Eclipses is the coolest damn thing. I pause everytime it happens and go to wherever I can to see it best. Hearing the theme in the first place is what got me back into Terraria, because I thought it was so amazing. I really love this kinda extended version of it, and the different sections it outlines. 'Seraphic,' 'Depravity,' 'Genesis,' 'Extirpation.' Dude, this is just baller as hell, and I commend y'all greatly.

I'm pretty late, but I LOVE the concept of The Nameless Deity. A being so far up the scale of power, it simply isn't named. It doesn't NEED a name, It doesn't even need a FACE, its godly stature and enigmatic nature is what cements it in your mind forever. This theme screams of absolute peril from both sides.
"There are things in this world that you're not meant to see." Really sells the feeling that you're doing something you shouldn't. That you're truly tampering with powers beyond your comprehension, yet with that same stoic attitude that got you here in the first place.
Speaking of that same stoic attitude, I'm glad the Terrarian got their own segment in this song, showing that this isn't a hopeless struggle against an inevitable defeat.
And the LYRICS to this song?? Holy shit I CANNOT stop listening to them. This is an absolute masterpiece. Amazing work!

whoa! this is really awesome, and the official release was definitely worth the wait! i love the slight tweaks made to the original song used in the mod, and i love the fact that every section even has a name! even the INTRO to the song is HEAVENLY!! this visualizer is also REALLY well done too, even though it's so trippy i can't even tell what's going on for the most part lmao (also, i think i saw the old nameless sprites somewhere in there)
the only criticism i have is relating to the final section (4:33), where it feels kind of empty, and quickly loses its charm after the first loop or two of the same couple of sections, though maybe i'm missing out on something since these are my first thoughts on this version of the song
criticism aside, you two did a really great job, and i can't wait to see what other songs come out from you two!
