I laughed out loud at Dorothy's concerned expressions, especially her relief when the tray was finally safely placed on the piano.
Me too and it’s the fact that she’s absolutely adorable that makes it funny too . 😂❤️❤️❤️
DOROTHY DANDRIDGE WAS SO TALENTED.
And one of the most staggeringly beautiful women I've ever seen. A combination that's hard to beat.
Love u Dottie! True trailblazer.
What a fabulous composer, pianist and singer Hoagy was....
If balancing a tea tray of heavy hot-fluid delicates on one's head as one delivered them to their destination were an Olympic sport, actor Peter Ray would rate a Gold Medal.
C sublime merci❤⚘👍
this treatment is what african americans endure everyday....maybe its not as vocal and up front like this song, but it is very much still evident. im happy Dorothy paved the way so We have a chance to express our culture. :) get em girl!
Why are you offended Dorothy looks great!!!Stop the HATE!!!
Adorable together Black Ricky and Lucy .
That routine is mesmerizing synchronized perfection. I'd say bravo.
Dorothy is the spitting image of Tamera Mowry in this clip
I've always said that in my head!! She certainly looks like her @ certain times. Especially when Dorothy performs the Chattanooga choo-choo with the Nicholas brothers.
You mean tamera mowry looks like Dorothy. Because Dorothy was way before tamera mowry so tamera looks like her ❤️❤️❤️.
Hey!!!!!! The lady standing at the piano looks like Lena Horne. Check her out @ 1:15
"Looks like," but hmm ... not LH. Too zaftig, softy.
Who were those two women at the piano with Hoagy?
Carmicheal was a musical genius
It's funny how quickly race comes up in discussions, granted this clip shows how unfair blacks were treated, remember back then it was easier to play a mammy then being a mammy. I can't play the race card because I'm multicultural.
I am black and I have seen ALOT of movies and videos from this decade since I STUDIED it!!!And if this is degrading to you then this WHOLE era must have been degrading to you!!!Because pleanty of servants where played by blacks. Which I actually thank because I rest upon there shoulders since I actually want to be a director/producer/actor!!!
I'm sorry. Even if I was acting in this clip I would have slapped that white man and pretended I thought it was a part of the script.
"Don't drop it". Video is ok.. of me BTW
Dorothy Dandridge's' performance wasn't degrading... If you want degrading, pay closer attention to mainstream rap artist nowadays...
Calm down girl, geesh. I'm pointing out what's with wrong how our people were protrayed then, and you are blasting off at the mouth. This era still had people like Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr, Dorothy, Harry Belofante, Lena Horne, Ella Fitz, Sarah Vaughn, etc who carried themselves with confidence, class, and self worth (even in the ugly racist society). This video was clearly meant to degrade and generalize the overall perception of them, which was so far off. Thats why IM upset. Why are you?
I always thought a Black man sung this song. Imagine that.
@produce21 This does sound like a racist song, but it's not. It's a song that mocks southern work culture. Hoagy didn't write the song, but he was no racist.:)
That's not what the song is about! The lyrics are Johnny Mercer's rejection of all the fake "Dixies" who would write 'artificial' songs about the south when they themselves had never even been to the south. Johnny Mercer was a 'true' southerner from Savanna, Georgia! Also, Hoagy did write the music. So, technically he and Mercer are both co-writers on the song.
So degrading. I'm offended by this video. However, Dorothy will always be an icon
