      Exactly! 😊
The Lords in Black and Webby (a Queen in White) exist in the Black and White, which General MacNamara in Black Friday described as being “outside of all dimensions.” So, in each Hatchetfield timeline, it’s always the same Webby and the same Lords in Black, experiencing and seeing all of the timelines. But the citizens of Hatchetfield are limited to their individual dimensions and timelines, meaning there’s countless different versions of all of them.
Only Hannah is able to see into alternate timelines and dimensions, and Lex is able to “reach through the Black and White”, but even then, neither of them seem to be able to influence anything outside of their own timelines. At least, as far as we know.

nerdy prudes isnt a prequel, but just another alternate universe - as far as we know, Nightmare Time 2 is the only instance where all the stories exist in one continuous timeline instead of being detached from each other.
some of the constants in every single hatchetfield story are things like tom's wife dying, and ted becoming the homeless man. happens no matter what.
as for grace being the catalyst for summoning the lords of black - i didnt really read it as her being the reason why all this other stuff can happen, i think the lords in black have always looming around waiting for the perfect moment to cause chaos and just chose grace as their newest follower or whatever

that is why in TGWDLM Bill references Grace Chastity in the line "and then I am defending Grace Chastity of all people" and then in Black Friday Tom Houston mention Grace was supposed to babysit Tim but she was out and couldn't make it so Paul and Emma had to make it

on the invoking thing I don't think the summoning is what brings the lords in black in Hatchetfield in every universe, it's juste one of the ways you can access their power through the book, like how ms Holloway borrows tinky's power in killer track to mess with time. grace Pete and steph aren't the only ones that have done the summoning anyway since the church used to use the book. Imo the lords are always here in the black and white, trying to mess with Hatchetfield

Gonna provide some context here- each story in hatchetfield is it's own timeline (barring nmt2 in which all the stories are one timeline). Each timeline resets back to 2005, and since time bastard takes place in 2004, the homeless man is in every time line, and tinky has his soul in every timeline, so he's always looking to complete his Spankoffski collection. 1. YES to a livestream!
    2. Grace doesn't summon the LiB every time, this is just a separate timeline. The current theory is that an event in 2005 caused the timeline to split. It probably revolves around Miss Holloway fighting Wilbur Cross (Uncle Wiley) and maybe this is the incident that killed Duke's father. But yeah, everything happens in different timelines, except Nightmare Time season 2, which is all centered around the Honey Festival.
    3. We probably should've warned you to reset your expectations watching this so shortly after Killer Track and Yellow Jacket... those are very lore heavy dramas and this... is different. More like Abstinence Camp. I went into NPMD fully expecting Duke, Miss Holloway and MacNamara and I HATED NPMD the first time I watched. Since I rewatched it with reset expectations and I love it.
    4. Sorry about the soup comments.
    5. The digital ticket shows the full choreography (which Lauren did!) for the Summoning. This version does NOT do it justice. Every Lord has a specific dance move, which then cycles around. So Wiggly waves his arms in and out, Nibbly licks the lollipop, Tinky sweeps back and forth etc. Every move corresponds to their personal appearance or power. Then, they cycle through the dance moves... Wiggly's move goes to Pokey, then Blinky, then Nibbly, then Tinky. The others' moves rotate similarly. Know why that is cool? Because if you trace the moves... you draw a pentagram. 'We dance around the pentagram' literally. Lauren is a freaking genius.

After reading some comments from the original video I came across an interesting way of looking at the Hatchetfield series and the Lords in Black. To the LiB this is all a massive game to see who can take over the world, with each of them having some differences in how they define winning. Wiggly wants to go to a timeline and remake it in his image, Pokey wants everyone to be like him and under his control, Blinky just wants to watch humans squirm and scream, Tinky wants to collect the toys he thinks are fun, and Nibbly just wants to eat his favorite foods. And once they've destroyed a timeline to the point of it not being fun anymore they'll just toss it in the figurative trashcan and turn they're attention to the next.

There are certain events that will always occur (such as Paul ad Emma meeting, Steph and Pete, Hatchetfield being royally screwed, and at least one Lord in Black making their will known). Same times, different universes. This is just the first time that we see all 5 lords present with no sign of Webby.

And I have to agree I think I like Nick’s Pete more. I had the exact same thought, that Nick feels more like an actual nerd who is also confident in who he is, which then makes Steph think he’s actually pretty cool and like him. I can see glimpses of it in Joey, but Nick just embodies him more. Joey is always great and his Pete is still very likable, but there’s almost more suspension of belief that he’s a “loser” and Steph could have just thought he was cute. Nick actually looks like a dork, which makes their relationship cuter because she falls in love with who he is.

Ok so there is always a crazy incident in hatchfield surrounding the lords in black in every dimension but that’s not when they’re summoned. The lords in black are always there. If we want a definitive first encounter with the lords in black, that would be the witch from the witch in the web. She was the first person in hatchetfield with “the gift” and she worshipped Wiggly. She was the one who wrote the Black Book. This was roughly 100 or something years ago. Side note, the lords in black are the lords in black because they’re webby’s brothers and her opposites, and she’s represented by white. Hence the black. Anyway, the timeline splits in 2005, so everything that happened beforehand has happened in every timeline. Hence why we see the homeless man in every timeline or he exists in every timeline. Since in that one timeline Ted went back to 2004, before the split, so even if he only time traveled in one dimension, it affected the others as well since he time traveled to before the time divergence. That’s also why Jane has always died in a car crash and Hannah is always born and with powers. And why she’s so powerful. It’s believed she was born during the time split which is why she can sense what happens in all the dimensions. I could get into all the hatchet field lore lol but basically everything happens in different timeline except for time bastard and forever and always. Those two episodes happen in the same timeline. And the entirety of nightmare time 2 happens in the same timeline. But everything else happens in different time lines. Hatchetfield is destined for crazy shit to happen though, no matter what timeline

    @JesusOfPaign Před 7 měsíci +47

Yessssssssssss. Been waiting for this since the musical came out. I seriously cannot believe how good some of these songs are. The earwormiest of earwormy tunes that they’ve ever written. Nerdy Prudes Must Die? Hatchet Town? The Summoning?? Soooo god damn good. And “High School is Killing Me” has been stuck in my head since I first heard it a week ago.
I also can’t believe how good the harmonies sound. I wanna know what sort of audio production is going on, like if they’re mixing in any sort of studio vocals, or comping multiple recordings, or whatever magic they did to get those harmonies to sound so downright _creamy_
Also, Ruth is lowkey the funniest character in this whole show. Nerd stereotypes like Pete and Richie are great, but idk, the “horny nerd” character just feels so much truer to real life and to the high school experience, which makes it so much funnier 😂
and I’m obsessed with the way that Max says the word “skeleton”. “I’m so fucking scared of skele’uns!”
Oh, one more thing. I will say, the Barbecue Monologues/Ruth’s song section did feel a little out of place and like it was necessary. BUT, on rewatch, I really do like it 😂, so i wouldn’t want it removed for the sake of pacing. I just don’t think I completely _get_ what the point of the song and monologue was. The “I used to dance” line does hit me as sad, but I’m not sure what the rest of the song is really about, and what it is really saying about Ruth. Black Friday and Nerdy Prudes aren’t as well-paced as TGWDLM (the pacing and comedic timing/writing is phenomenal), but when I look at them there aren’t any scenes/songs that I would sacrifice for the sake of pacing. So I’ll take the less-than-perfect pacing if the alternative would be losing a song or a whole scene.
Edit: Came back to say that I feel like they could’ve cut that weird pop-punk-y song at the end. I’m not even sure exactly why it’s in the show? My guess would be that it’s to sort of mirror/bookend “High School is Killing Me”, which sounded like a song you’d have at the beginning of an 80’s teen movie. And “Best of You” sounds like the type of song a 90’s or 00’s teen movie would roll credits on. But beyond that, it’s not even a particularly _good_ song; there’s just nothing going on musically or lyrically. The only purpose it serves is as a fake-out closing number, before they have that twist title number reprise. I think the show would be better without it, which is funny, because it’s the closest song to the kind of music I listen to normally 😂

I still thought it was funny, but I did a lot of high school drama 😂

@@genericname2747I loved it in Black Friday with the “Santa Claus Goes to High School” song. Firstly, because it was a banger, but also because unless you remembered them mentioning the movie earlier in the show, you were just completely confused until it’s revealed that it’s a movie, and then it’s hilarious.
The Barbecue Monologue bit and song isn’t as funny, nor is it as bangerific. And it’s probably the only part of the musical that felt kinda slow. When I was watching it with my buddy, during the scene I was thinking “this is starting to drag a tiny bit”, and like five seconds later my friend was like “Okay, this scene feels like it’s going on too long”.
BUT, they did need to give Ruth some solo time in order to give us a chance to get to know her better, and make us actually care that she dies. And while I think that scene is the biggest flaw when it comes to pacing, I wouldn’t want to get rid of it, because I like it 😂 and I’d be sad if it were gone. It’s funny, charming, a little bit sad, and the song is still pretty solid. In my opinion, most Starkid musicals’ pacing is kinda mid? Aside from TGWDLM (which is as impressive in its pacing as it is in its comedic timing), Starkid shows tend to drag in at least one place, which means the show suffers on first watch-or to non-starkid-fans. The trade off, however, is that there’s so much more show to love on rewatch and -listen, and pacing doesn’t matter as much when you already know the entire show.

The Lords in Black and Webby exist outside of this split so the Wiggly we see in Black Friday is the same one in this show. The current timelines we know of are Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals, Black Friday, Nerdy Prudes and Nightmare Time Season 2. You can’t end off a Hatchetfield musical without the looming threat of the destruction of civilization.
TGWDLM: An infectious alien disease that will spread throughout the Earth at unmatched speeds
Black Friday: World War III, a nuclear war that will likely wipe out all of humanity
    NPMD: GRACE FUCKING CHASTITY

  • @disguisedhamstergames8299

My favourite part is in every Grace chastity story she always saves the day by discovering her taste for blood

My understanding is that the Lords in Black are constants in the multiverse. They exist in the Black and White, and interact with the different realities from there. Every time we see them it's the same version of the characters.
They weren't directly summoned to this timeline, either. They were summoned in limited capacity as a communication ritual, and they appeared in human form to not "melt their minds." If they were fully summoned into the world, they would just invoke their full eldritch wraths and destroy the world. Instead, they have to use Grace as a (willing) vessel to do their will. Black Friday and TGWDLM both showcase the kind of effort it takes for one of them to fully infiltrate a reality.
This was awesome to see a reaction from someone else knowledgeable about Hatchetfield lore! There are so many little easter eggs to catch. I'm excited for the future of the series, and just hope they're able to make all the stories they have planned. (Currently nothing else is greenlit.)

Well, the mayor mention he alredy use the book, and the cult was there before it was destroyed, so, probably that wasn't the first time in that universe that someone open the portal.

At first i thought the last song (before dirty dudes must die) was out of place until i realised that i think they were making a play on like, all the pop/cheesy songs that are played at a homecoming/prom. It really reminded me of that. Great video! Would love to see a video or limestream about your theories!

Apparently Pokey, the Lord in Black played by Cory is responsible for the meteor from TGWDLM. I'm not sure if it's been addressed in nightmare time yet though

Yeah, I don’t think Max was controlled by Pokey. He still seemed pretty much like his usual self, if a bit more murderous, and when summoned, Pokey seemed perfectly fine with him and his brothers dragging Max to Drowsy Town.

Well the way I see it the spell on the house is powered by the Lords in Black, and which lord is know to bring people back from the dead, Pokey. But I still believe Max was still himself as a ghost just with aggression cranked up to eleven thanks to all that black magic.(edit spelling)

1:15:22 when i first watched it, i wasn't super attached to any of the songs either! i thought they were ok, just not as good as the others in the hatchetfield universe. but now i've listened to them over and over and now i realized how genius they are??? like the songs are so good now that i've listened to them again!

Finally found a few hours in the lull before exams to watch. I'm hooked! Also, as it turns out, singing Dirty Dudes Must Die is sufficient to draw weird looks, even in a music building at uni. Who knew? Anyway, enjoyed the vid as always, and congrats on 10k!!

The Summoning is not the origin story, it’s just another timeline on which the LiB get involved somehow.

I've enjoyed the running joke that everyone in Hatchetfield irrationally hates Clivesdale. This show gives it a point, the reason the school lets Max terrorize the other students is because nothing is more important than football. The teachers would let Max get away with anything if it meant beating the Chemists.

There are multiple theories of why there are multiple universes in Hatchetfield. My favorite, and most probable is that Webby has to create new strands in her web that is the universe when her brothers(the Lords of Black) doom different timelines. This will also explain why the world doesn't end when the Lords only attempt at ruining one persons life, instead of the entire world.
15 years ago (2005, according to that NPMD is set in late 2020), Lauter made a deal with the Lords and damned the entire population of Hatchetfield and made them the Lords playthings (which is probably why he won't touch the book again)
I'd love to discuss it further in a livestream, although if it's happening through a livestream the ideas might be overlooked as the thoughts are quite complex and most of it doesn't make sense anywhere else than in Nicks brain

  • @djtimo
    @djtimo Před 7 měsíci +2

So it seems like what could have happened is that there are many universes (split between the shows and the Nightmare Time stories) which have certain constants (like Paul and Emma getting together, etc) and it all stems from the Waylons and their worship of the Lords in Black.

Song: “I’m the best of you! And you’re the best of me! And together we are free to run around!”
    Barb: “….. what?”
(To this day I have no clue why that song is in there. I think they just wanted a big bright cast number to contrast Grace’s ending reprise, but it just ended up as an early 2000’s pop homage of vaguely happy nonsense lyrics)
