  • Collection 7, part 1 (of 2) = 12 7" singles from 1970 (some could be reissued copies - details shown)
    6. Parliament - The Silent Boatman - original UK release
My first experience of Soul music was from listening to the tracks being played on the pirate radio stations in the mid 60’s. I was hooked, for life!
My older brother bought a reel to reel tape recorder and taped the Soul tracks they played. These recordings were not of great quality and it was very difficult finding a particular track if you wanted to hear it.
When I got my first full time job at the end of the 60’s I started to buy the 7” singles of the tracks I liked most, on those tapes and newer ones I’d heard too, via oldies catalogues. I built up quite a collection over the years and also started to buy new singles as they came out in the UK.
I still have all 700, but I don’t play them anymore as I have digital versions stored on my computer/phone. Back in the day manually changing them was the only way they could be heard (other than using the stacking mechanism on an old record player, maximum 10), which was tedious, but I still treasure the actual singles.
These CZcams collections, which will total nearly 140 singles, include many of those I bought in the late 60’s /early 70’s, some of which had been deleted (have a hole punched through), but these are their digital versions obtained from CDs and various online sites, or created from later LPs, as the originals are not of the highest quality what with wear and tear and some being over 50 years old now.
    Hope you enjoy!

I grew up on rock-n-roll, R&B, sweet soul music/Motown in Chicago. All I had to do was turn on the radio and could hear both by simply turning the dial from top 40 pop stations WLS, WCFL to soul station WVON.
I have all my original 45s that I bought back in the day. Mine have been digitalized too.
You mentioned the record stacker. It caused surface scratches. I was the stacker type. Never realized I was scratching them. I wasn't worried about preserving them. They were bought to be played and play them I did.
All in all, they're still in G+ condition.
