Today we look at the return of a keyboard that already made quite the impression in its original version; the Class80 by MMstudio! Hope you enjoy the video! :)

Oh thank god they're doing another run of this keyboard, I was so bummed when I missed out the first time. Sometimes I hate this hobby because of the group buy stuff but I also understand why they have to do it.
I think it’s already sold out? It says so on the website
@@AlexanderDiviFilius that's the R1, R2 will be sometime in October
@@c3nsr it does say sold out on the R2 product page itself, bizarrely. A bit disappointed by the colour options anyway, I must admit; I’d have like a black or a grey option. The colours do look great though, and I like the styling.
Nah it says its coming in October on mmkeyboard's website @@AlexanderDiviFilius
@@AlexanderDiviFiliusThey have a discord that's listed on the page, maybe it's best to ask there. They might be able to shed more light on the status of the project :) .
I love that olive drab colour, I've been looking for a keyboard that has a bit of that military look and this is very interesting.
You can always send your keyboard case to someone to reanodize or cerakote it whatever color you want
1:48 "Is this the addon cocaine I asked for" hahahaha
This was my first custom kit. I got a B-stock kit in the same green color, and I paired it with Arctic Fox switches thanks to your video on the Class80 prototype. Other than the right control key not working (a key I don't really use at all), I couldn't be happier with it.
Can't wait for the full review!
I love the papers please shirt
Love that T shirt, is that from Papers Please game?
Yes :)
This keyboard looks awesome! Thanks mate!
Forget the keyboard, nice shirt, good game.
Nice shirt dude.
Glory to Arstotzka.
Gorgeous case design. The green looks different - less matte - here than on their website. The colour reminds me of the 'military' paint used on toys from when I was a kid. Also very curious about the topre - that's an extra $100. Any idea what the total cost is, all in?
I think manually foaming a keyboard is maybe less common because many/most? come pre-foamed(?).
I think it's $490 for what I've shown here.
You need to hurry up and do a bbox60 review! There’s like 5 different color ways including an IKEA color scheme that would really be funny for some reason. Maybe even get the irocks plate and PCB that’s going around and install irocks blues in it!
Looks nice, but are they ever going to make one with the correct number of keys?
I too love that olive drab colour, it is my second favorite keyboard colour after the industrial grey of the IBM keyboards. I don't own any green keyboards, so that would make it interesting. I don't have much experience with a soldering iron however, so I don't think I'll "be able to" buy this keyboard...
Ever thought of designing your own keyboard? I'm sure youd have some interesting ideas
Ideas yes, definitely, but the amount of work (and money) involved is absolutely insane. I know how much work Joe had to put into even just resurrecting the F, which is a known design.
@@Chyrosran22 that's fair. Personally, the money part worries me the most. It's either out of pocket or with other people's money from a group buy on a board I wouldn't even have prototypes made yet. Feels backwards.
Anyways would you think it's more effort trying to painstakingly recreate someone else's design or making your own from scratch? I feel like trying to recreate vintage boards with modern adjustments would be way harder than making your own original design
@@incongruous4 I think it's definitely harder as you don't have to design new things and therefore have to test in a much more thorough way, plus you need more skills and knowledge. That said, even resurrecting an old board is extremely hard. Suppose I'd want to bring back a Focus FK-5001 with blue Alps and a calc that can send to PC, I can't even imagine how difficult that'd be.
maybe you should pair up with an experienced manufacturer? The Chyrosran edition?
@@duncanmurray6587Even just the amount of reverse enginering and especially tooling the switches would be insane.
sick
Jesus, Sir, with that voice you could be doing asmr or something of the sort. Wow. 😳
Haha cheers! I'm trying to get into voice acting :D
I've seen this board elsewhere and I really love the idea of topre-style switches with MX mount compatibility inside a custom keyboard... I've always been curious about topre but the actual offering is rather lacking IMO so the prospect of seeing it done elsewhere is really exciting. I'm not dropping 500$ on this ridiculous chonker though, maybe they'll widen their range a little bit and make is available in like a reasonably-sized 75% board.
What is that big blue keyboard on the desk?
Last redragon keeb he reviewed
@@LuCallofDuty1 It is? How'd I miss that?
I'm drinking transparent russian right now, so the unboxing seems great.
I always hate it when they forget the addon cocaine.
love that add on cocaine
Foams are still big in China afaik but the western market is mostly done with them.
Fascinating.
Nah, it will come back. Consumers need something to consume (change for change's sake), but the thock will always remain the most pleasant keyboard sound overall
i absolutely hate 'thock' and have no idea why it became so popular
Foam is definitely not "done" in the western market.
@@nickthaskater true, it's not completely done but people started to realize that foam board sounds similar then they back with no foam config and called it "classic" which is kinda funny because it sounds lifelessly dead like in an early 2017-2019 ish keyboard hobbyist really love since the switch sounds really boring unlike the true vintage classic board.
Bum ponds
While foam in a keyboard is somewhat contentious. It is almost universally agreed that the inclusion of foam is a good thing. The practical wisdom is that a good keyboard shouldn't NEED foam to sound good.
And hence boards that include foam usually include it because they need to. It isn't often that boards that sound good without foam include foam.
Not sure who said that, but I would take ALL THE FOAM over hollow and shitty sounding keyboard.
Jesus Loves all of you guys
