THERE IS A MODERATE RISK (4/5) OF SEVERE WEATHER OVER MUCH OF IOWA AND NEARBY PARTS OF SOUTHEASTERN MINNESOTA, WISCONSIN, ILLINOIS, AND MISSOURI.
SUMMARY... An outbreak of severe thunderstorms, including the potential for strong tornadoes, is expected mainly this afternoon to early evening. The greatest threat is over Iowa and parts of adjacent states.
A PDS Tornado Watch Number 277 has been issued for parts of Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin until 9 PM CDT. PDS means "Particularly Dangerous Situation." This type of Tornado Watch is very rare.
