  • Spurred grommets are used to keep the grommets from ripping out. product images used in this video were taken from sailrite and are used under fair use. I purchased all grommets and related items from sailrite.com
Sailrite did not sponsor this video, I tell this to help you if you are looking for where I purchased the items discussed in this video.

    Nice work!
I enjoyed your old videos about the hammock/clew and made one for myself, but i had only the normal store grommets which ripped through the canvas at first
So i had to make a second one where i reinforced all grommets with sewing around them
Overall a nice experience and i hope to see more

You do some very nice work I'm on my third hammock ,like you're.making . I'm gone away from metal grommets to using Mule tape tie outs with Kevlar thread in a speedy stitcher I found the grommet to cause the canvse to be the week link in the system. I'm not criticizing your work in any way Coming from an old fat guy

Hi Nate hope you can respond. There is a video that shows how to make your clew giving your link. She makes a hanging chair with the two clews but is too vague. Could you possibly make a swinging chair video with more detail please. Also thank you for your clear and detailed instructions for the World War II clew!!!

We call them eyelets over here, our "grommets" are rubber cable protectors in sheet metal housings... 🤷‍♂️

Are you going to give a suggestion on what to use as a ring for a clew? I’m trying to figure out what to look for.

sorry for the delay in response.
the original rings were grade 80 alloy steel with an outside diameter of 2-1/2" and a thickness of 3/8".
Alloy steel is near impossible to come by. I suggest galvanized but if you have the means get stainless steel. I got some stainless steel on discount. while they are not a sponsor I got my rings at go2marine, they where made by sea dog.
