I bought one, it is ok. I took the spring off as it cants the chuck/drill bit towards the shaft with the spring as there is a bit of slop in the sleeves that ride up and down the shafts. I removed the two hard plastic sleaves from the chuck carrier and replaced them with a piece of ultra slippery Teflon PTFE 1/16" thick sheet (McMaster Carr part# 8545K13) that I rolled into a cylinder. To cut the strip uses the full height of the hard plastic insert to measure for the width of the strip and marked a line with a sharpie. Cut the strip off with sharp scissors. Then roll the end of the strip around one of the steel shafts(PTFE is soft) and mark the approximate length needed to make a complete cylinder, you will have to trim off tiny amounts of the length to get it to fit perfectly into the holes in the drill chuck carriage(it should be a tight fit), push the piece of PTFE all the way to the bottom, I needed to use the edge of a 3/8" dowel to to get the PTFE piece to bottom out. There is no need to reinstall the two screw they are not necessary as the Teflon fit it tight. All the slop is gone. Reassemble the drill guide and put a thin film of gun oil, 3 in 1 oil, synthetic motor oil, or the like on the steel shafts, it will be silky smooth and it will be an excellent tool. I would recommend mounting it to a 8" or 10" square base for stability. This is a light duty, hobbyist tool, do not expect to be drilling holes for pegging mortice and tenon joints in huge timbers.

For my purpose, I think this paint will work perfectly. I’m building a slot car track with some pretty big elevation changes. I’m going to use this paint to give me better downforce in some of the more intense curves. (One of which mimics Laguna Seca’s world famous Corkscrew.) As it is, the roughly 3/16” rails are the only source of magnatraction in those areas and you can lose control VERY easily. My plan is to paint a 1”strip just inside & outside of the rails of my slot car track. The second coat will be 3/4” and the third will be 1/2”. I’m hoping to give a smoother, more controllable drift in those particularly tricky areas of the track. This review was extremely helpful, THANKS!

I hate that the fence bracket is proud of the table top. That means work pieces fall down to the table after clearing the fence bracket. What were they thinking? I bought mine when they were transitioning to the newer (cost reduced?) model. I specifically chose the older model because it seemed to be built better. The blade wobbles when first turned on. So don't put the fence too close to the blade. Otherwise the blade will scrape the side of the fence -- don't ask me why I know.

Bake a teacake, take it to your neighbours, ask them to help you lift it. Three people and a second borrowed ladder will make short work of the lifting, and then you aren't stuck with about 8 metres of chain that you now have no use for.

I have a couple of previous heavy duty outdoor use cords I would like to repair, but that new connector doesn't appear it would block moisture, or would it? The trick is to ensure the mitre slot is parallel to the blade. Then insert a 1" strip of wood lengthwise into the slot and slide the fence to the board.
