Quick question, how do I get the harmonics to sound better? Everytime I play them they are scratchy. Thanks!
Hello, the best way to fix any issue with technique is to work one on one with a private teacher. It is impossible to give any advice without observing how you play. If you have no access to a good teacher, try to change bow angle, part of a bow you are using and the distance from the bridge. All the best!

I’m not a professional but from when I learned to play this you have to find the perfect bow lane for the harmonics and they have to be exactly in tune to not sound scratchy

Hi Christian, in this case I play harmonics with thumb. It makes brighter sound and takes off pressure from thumb. In case different sound color is needed, we could avoid using harmonics. Thank you for listening!
Thank You . A very useful video of this piece of Popper. But I have problems to figure out the flagoletts in mesure 36, 37 and 41 . What are the real sound of these notes ? . Thankful for some advice .
Hi Einar. These notes real sounds are actually exactly the notes you see in the treble clef. (A-F#-D-B-D-G-B-A in mms 36-37; A-F#-D-B-D-G-B-E-G in m.41). They all have to be played in the same position on strings indicated in your music (A-D-G in 36-37 and all 4 strings in m.41). This spot is one of the reasons I recorded it in the slow tempo. I hope it helps...
