    🔥🔥🔥🔥IMPORTANT PLEASE READ THIS🔥🔥🔥🔥
At 29:00 where I am starting to edit some of the settings for the compressor, please also change the setting called Makeup ( Knob on the right ) to 8db. I accidently left that setting out, sorry 😞
Also everything past the in game settings is going to be more advanced stuff, so please follow along carefully and if something doesn't work. Best advise is to remove Equaliser APO and start again. I will try and help with any troubleshooting if its not working for you if I can but everyone's system is different, so may not be able to help

Great info!! A compressor make much more sense than sound lock (which i been using). I've been wondering how i could get an eq and comp to run but never had time to mess with it..
💥 *Also, just something u may have not noticed about compressors & compensating for compressed audio (lower vol) ! ! **31:05** - U hover over it at **30:50** as well!!!* ⏬
👉 Usually *compressors for mixing/mastering most likely have an output preamp, usually called "make-up gain" or "output gain"* - both on the right side of the module (90% of the time) & both labeled with db.
Although either way works and neither is technically "the right way;" the compressor itself is designed to bring the volume/gain back-up, by itself (and being designed for it - it works better than evenly applying gain across it all as it counter acts with its compression effect).
As it applies make up gain evenly to the lower vol after compressing the extremely loud vols; it brings it all back to normal volumes without un-compressing itself - or making the loud - loud again, and the quiet - louder- but still overpowered by the extreme vols like before. - Hope that can help, and hope u can makes sense of it lol (its hard to explain)

Nice video. Have also an iFi DAC/AMP combo. I use it for music and gaming and tried APO a lot of times. Also the files for headphones. It change the sound drastically but not to the good. First not all hear same. thats why the curve is not for everyone. It is only theoretically. All my headphones got muddy sound with it. And with this settings do you really hear footsteps clearer and better? If you boos or lower special frequencies in the range of the footsteps than you change something. The headphone curve equalize or normalzie the headphone to more linear. Anyway good video. (try steelseries sonar and see the difference in settings)

Hey man thank you for posting this video. I watched a few other videos and subscribed. You said at around 20:50 that the graphic EQ settings in E APO. Get us to a neutral setting with our specific headphones. After we got that done. If I want footsteps to be louder I should be turning up the dB on the specific frequencies produced by the game right? The vast majority of foot step cues happen between 50hz to 200hz. So if I turn up the decibels on the specific frequencies I should hear them better. Is that correct?

Great video and information. I play solely on PC. The instructions were simple to follow and I got it all set up. Something you did not talk about, which I messed with and have a question about is the POWER buttons for the various things we've added like the plugin, preamp, and text file. I didn't notice a difference in the sound, footsteps, etc. then I click all of the POWER buttons. THEN the sound changed. Am I assuming correctly that once you launch the program, you need to turn them all ON via the power buttons?
The difference in sound I heard is that the LOUD stuff was lower, which is wonderful. I hate it, when I'm trying to chat with my team on discord and the gunfire and explosions are so loud I can't hear what they are saying. Now they are at a reasonable level and I'm able to hear my team on discord. Also, the footsteps are NOW audible WHILE fighting which is a huge plus. Sadly the HEADSHOT "CHA-CHING!" noise is still loud but that's ok =] Can't wait to tell the team and get them set up. It's clearly an advantage and edge we'll enjoy. Thanks again for putting in your time on this and sharing it with others.
I was also very surprised my headphones were on the list. I have high-end studio reference headphones open-backed (makes the game sound VERY realistic and immersive) because I got tired of using "gaming headsets" which were nothing more than cheap Chinese trash LOL. I've also run them through a DAC (digital to analog converter) and preamp. I also set up a high-end studio recording microphone because I wanted people to hear me clearly and with a crisp clean sound. These programs are a very nice bonus to this setup =]

I also get an red curve myself, that is due to having gain for more loudness. • @SiNisterFPS

You can keep using the mix amp if it's what is powering your A40s. Just make sure surround sound is off from the mix amp and if it has presets, I would make make a neutral one basically every slider in the middle. This way the amp is ot really effecting the sound and is just more a amp to power your headphones. What is sonar? Is it that app from stealseries? The one with the eq and surround sound? So the compressor didn't help. What helped me personally was sitting in-game and working with the EQ to figure out which frequencies held the ambient sounds and footsteps. For me, the ambient sounds ranged from somewhere between 500-4khz. I forget which other channel it was, but there was one that stated footsteps fell primarily in the 100-300hz range. So I depressed the ambient range and bumped the 100-300 range (+ a bump to treble). That seemed to make the game much quieter overall and preserve the volume of footsteps.
A friend of mine runs a pair of logitech headphones and he eliminated ambient sounds by depressing the 725hz range strangely enough. I'm not sure why he and I have such varied results on what we had to EQ, but it seems that it will work just fine for people with headsets that have independent EQ programs (like logitech and senn do) to figure out where the ambient sound frequencies are and press them out.
This games audio engine is bad, but after doing this I realized that the major issue is how much they boosted the ambient and explosive/shooting effect sounds over foot step sounds. Almost like when they walked the footstep loudness back from the beta, that they didn't do the same for everything else and that's why it sounds so god awful (lack of sound at times aside).
