My 49 chevy styline is sitting on a 96 caprice cop car chassis so same chassis except since mine was a cop version it's got the beefier suspension and brakes . It's been sitting for awhile now , I need to get back on it .

You can usually tell by the thickness of the sway bars and I think the size of the rotors maybe

Before you get cutting the driveshaft, check a fleetwood . They are 4to 6inches longer than an impala or caprice
Says he is trying to prevent any dents since he is painting it black and then proceeds to drag the hood across the concrete and lays it upside down, lol. Build is looking great though. I like that this chassis swap will have the original dash.
Great progress! Seems like the rear is squatting down and it does not have that hot rodder stance.
Not gonna lie, this is probably going to be my favorite build from you thus far! I know Baby had a pair of chrome spotlights in the first 3 seasons but were removed from Season 3 Episode 10 onward so the director could mount cameras in their place, but I feel they add some really nice bling to the car. Any plans on getting a pair of spots for your build?
Very nice car saw one at a car show, a few were made but the big one had a 502 Wow!
I had that car back in the mid 70’s, but it was a 2-door. It had big fat tires (meats) on the back. I even went camping in it- it was bigger than I was used to, but it was a nice ride. ❤😊❤

Hey casey..you should of researched or remembered that the 1996 impala ss was just a fancier cop car caprice...the caprice cop cars had 15" steel rims..the impala ss got 16" rims...same style brakes on both though..love the channel..not ragging on ya..just thought it funny you didn't remember or research the 90's impala basic parts ? ..keep up the good work...research research research..lol

The caprice cop cars had the same upgrades as the impala ss. They came with 15” rally wheels, same wheels as on the C10 square body’s. 5” on 5 lug pattern.
Have had a few of em. Great driving, super fun cars.
My 16 year old son & I custom built our own Monte named ZX edition lol. He is gen z and I’m gen x that how we came up with ZX edition. Monte Carlo mini cooper panoramic sunroof 400 sbc T5 trans 4.11 gear custom 2 fade paint blue metallic top colorshift with added flake in middle fade to black bottom.
She is looking great!

Casey, the boxes on the intake are silencers. An Impala SS is nothing more than a Caprice with 17" wheels, blacked out trim and a few changes inside. Mostly it is the same car. I've had 3 Caprices, they are great road cars. You can buy an aftermarlet filter setup at several places and you can also replace the elbow with one from a Camaro.Firebird and eliminate the Home Plate and then install a cone filter, I've seen that done also. On the Impala, the air filter box sits in the left front corner and the PCM sits under it. the antilock brakes is right behind that. Hope all that helps, cool build.

i love that your building your own baby i will say the easiest way to rake it which is the same way they did in the show is to run taller tires on the rear as for replicating the car the issue with most of the information out there is they all stem from one specific car which in reality they had different configurations through out the seasons in season one and two it had police spot lights on the a pillars then they vanished for a period of time and reappeared in season 5 for a few episodes if i recall they used 13-30 different impala's throught the shows run

casey i have a 95 impala ss and i did delete that horrible intake and i bought a aluminum elbow from ebay and it has a nitrous port if you decide to run nitrous one day and it does come with a plug to run it with out nitrous and yes we all hate that stupid intake it was designed not as a air cleaner it was use to reduce the intake noise and make the engine more quiet but who in their right mind would sacrifice horse power to make less noise that its just dumb
I had a 68 4 door Impala 396 that I loved. Wish I could find another one. I see a lot of 327s and 2 doors but no 4 door sleepers. That car sat at a neighbors house and I finally asked what they were going to do with it and he told me if I could make it run and drive it away I could have it. The rest is history. I outran the cops with it one time.

I found a 68 four door hardtop in a field that look like it wouldn't take much to drive it home! I don't know what to offer the dude for it when I catch him home? That and idk how the frame looks either but the body is solid! What do you think?
If the body is solid pick it up, I’d take 800$-1000$ cash and slap it in his hand, then take it home

It looks cooler with bigger wheels. Instead 15 inch one I think 18 inch or 19 inch that looks similar to the 15x8 wheels that you just got.

Where'd you find such a fresh Impala chassis that still has a "home plate" and "first base" intake on the engine? Usually those get ripped off right away.

Should still need 4 inches to the driveshaft because you have no weight on the suspension. Put the frame back down to normal ride height and you will find it is indeed needing 4 inches. Just trying to save you having to do it over Casey .
The weight is even all around, so it’s still 3.75. If the weight wasn’t even and the rear was heavier then the front or Vice versa it would change the angle some. (Also i doubled checked with the body on before i took it off the 2nd time)
@@CaseysCustoms Well ....on the plus side ...if Iam right it is cheaper to make it shorter than longer ;)
What I am saying is you don't have very much weight in the back end ( no trunk floor , gas tank, bumper ect) so the rear springs have the axel at full extended travel or close to it and that is 1/4 pushed in towards the trans on all gm 4 link designs.
Simple check is to see if the shocks are at full extension, if they are you are at the top of travel.
Not trying to give yah grief just save yah some $$
