Wow, loving the philosophy talk in here! I did study one year philosophy after my master degree in architecture. Really loved the connection with movies, we talked so much about the Matrix. So cool that you nearly did your PhD Chase.
Great quotes from Kevin Kelly - "it's not the camera it's the person behind it" and "question assumption/authority and tolerate failure"
Those days of film! I used to write every detail in a little book. Taking a photo used to take ages. Not only manual focusing, then writing down. Travel partners were so patient with me. Thanks so much for this talk, what a genius!

+KevinKelly knows how to think. This is what I love about him....he has an approach to understanding, and assimiliating, information that is largely missing from our Society. We need this approach to learning and understanding in our schools, desperately.

Kevin Kelly is a genius! Thank you for bringing him into this awesome show! I think people who wants to build awesome startups should read more science fiction! Hope you sit with Neil Gaiman too! I think a lot of us creatives can learn so much from him!

just a note: if you want 1000 true fans, then you probably need hundred thousand of all fans ... and there we are back in good old tough reality

All great info and I agree with all previous comments. BUT the comment Chase, you gave about oils are stupid because they dry slowly and acrylics are smart because they dry fast - Sounded good but very much uniformed.... It's not true at all. TOP painters use oils for particular reasons and other TOP painters use acrylics for particulars reasons.
As a leader in creativity and teaching you need to go investigate this. I just love your show and I am only picking on this because as someone in your position you need to know. Cathy Weiss - oil painter/ acrylic painter for over 30 years.

Do not know about painting, your argument makes a lot of sense and should be valid.
I see no need to call a comment stupid, 'inappropriate' or 'uninformed' or 'naive' are better alternatives.

Chase, sometimes please stop talking so much. I love this series but I find your personal anecdotes are rarely as valuable as what your guest is trying to say. I totally understand the impulse, and of course you have great things to say too, but it's too much when it's distracting from or interrupting the fascinating minds that you're interviewing.

As I see it, the videos in this series are "conversations" and as such Chase's interventions are part of the flow, invite comments from the guest and steer the discussion.
A lecture is another option and most likely there are a few from each gust on CZcams.
      Both formats are complementary.

Pterodax By watching several interviews of the same people by different hosts, I think that him talking is actually what draws out certain themes out of the guest. Even if you think he talks too much, the point is that the guest heard him, he is gonna be influenced by what he just said and go in a direction that is aligned with Chase's purpose. That is part of that serendipity they talked about. (that's why interviews done by news anchor are rarely as interesting since they do not have a strong purpose beside just information)
