    The song is weird, and it just screams "Eurovision!" Definitely stands out from the rest. While it's not as good as last year, it's definitely a much higher level than Sisters. Currently it's kind of in the middle of my ranking.

    I will always congratulate and support a country if they take a risk with their entry. Germany is definitely taking a risk with this entry as I am sure were probably many more conventional songs in their selection by talented singers and songwriters. However Jendrik for sure stood out from the crowd with his song and video. The song may not be to everyone’s liking but it is very catchy and you will have it stuck in your head for days even if you feel hate for it. You can tell it’s both the song and the video are a labour of love and this song for sure will stand out at ESC 2021. Jendrik is also just the sweetest contestant this year. I myself do enjoy the song although I do sometimes think it is a bit on the childish side but guess we all are kids at heart so is that so bad. I do dislike the spoken bit at the end as I just a thing I hate in all song so it is not the song's fault just my taste. The meaning is also very relevant, In the ESC fandom in particular I feel there is a lot of unnecessary hate especially to acts who’s song we dislike and even to fans who may like songs we hate. Sometimes we just need to respect others opinions more and if we dislike something there is no need to be hateful when we say it is not to our taste. I’m not sure how the song will do as it is quite polarising so far but seeing as it is Germany I could see it in the top 10 or bottom five but not ending up “in the middle” (which by the way is a great song by another ESC act ;P ) Worth also noting that "that's how you write a song" won it’s SF in 2018 so who to say this won’t do well. As always Ran you hit a home run with this reaction video but I know you already know this so I will end this long essay of a comment with Best of luck Jendrik and 12 points to Ran and his channel. You both are the heroes of our time.

    I miss Germany's NF too, so many good times, like the whole 2015 drama with the winner, that under the sun we are one song in 2016 and the mess that was the 2017 NF with that let people vote world wide.

    I see this being the typical "What the f*ck"-entry of this year. He has a serious message but the song is not meant to be a spotify-streaming song. It's all about the vibes, the performance and his positiveness. I see this doing so much better than many of these medicre pop ballads or overproduced, swedish-made songs.
    We also have to keep in mind that there were entries like this in the past that were hated before and then they placed top 10. Remember Alf Poier 2003? Stefan Raab 2000? Verka in 2007? or Moldova 2018 that was ranked extremely low before the contest and then they placed higher than fan favourites like France or Ukraine. Just wait for the performance.

      let's be honest here, you can't really compare this cheap song sung by some inauthentic musical actor with an entertainment legend like stefan raab...

      You know what? He might not be Stefan Raab or Guildo Horn. But with a good staging i do see this song doing surprisingly better than many of these overhyped pop songs.
      This is the type of song that gets 10 points from all Jurys and 200 points from the televote. He will have a dancing peace-sign on stage that will play a trumpet...this is already more memorable, adorable and epic than having a woman in a grey dress singing another boring ballad about love.

    • @omahahnful
      @omahahnful Před 3 lety

      @@questionmark3219 that‘s true! it’s something completely different than the formulaic pop songs that germany entered in the last years (except some goodies like michael schulte) so yeah maybe that experiment works out but idk it doesn‘t work for me and I somehow dont see it working with most of eurovision watchers because it‘s quirky yes but the quality of everything about it is just so low 😞. but I‘d love to be wrong, because it would be horrible for Jendrik to have his career destroyed in such an early state as he seems very nice!

      I mean he created the music video himself which helped to song very much. He will also work together with the same team that will make the staging for The Roop.
      I can absolutely understand that many people don't like the song. But let's be real: This is not a spotify song. This is nothing you hear in the clubs. This is something straight out of a tv show or a musical. For some reason i don't see this doing too bad. Even though he isn't known as an artist he does have experience in singing, acting and performing.
      Just wait for the performance in May.

    I wanted to like it, but man I hate this song so much. Every washed-up "feel good" song cliche you can think of (ukulele, whistling, tap dancing, mute trumpet), no hook, really cheap production. And this overacted "musical theatre" style singing really rubs me the wrong way and just feels... unauthentic to me.
    The video is just 2008 youtuber millenial humor which wasn't even funny back then.
    The lyrics and message of the song are like a 2014 taylor swift song, just dumbed down by a factor of 10 and without any of the spite that she masterfully brings across. I would call this song a very very cheap foreign bootleg of "Shake It Off".
    The only redeeming factor of the song is the gay representation but sorry for saying that, because I do think he is sincere, this has been done so much better and less privileged. I'm sorry but "F. the haters" might feel like gay representation to you, but to me it feels way to shallow of a statement to be "the song with the great message"...

      To be fair Jendrik did make the video himself with "Kein geld", (no money). I think the video is very good and seeing how it made on the cheap makes it even more impresses to me.
