This was really helpful. While I've done my professional demos on a Neumann U87 and TLM 49 I own the Sennheiser MK4 for my home studio. Your video has strengthened my confidence that I did just fine with the MK4. I'd certainly love to have a Neumann but this video tells me that I don't actually need one! Thanks!
Awesome! Yeah, love Neumanns but I like the MK4 because it's a bit less dark for my voice and EQing to taste is easy with this one. I have another Mic shootout on my channel and will probably post a third one this week. Subscribe if you haven't already. Thanks for watching!
Mic B seems to have a slight bump in the mids giving it a little more body compared to mic A. At what bitrate did you upload this? It might be more apparent if the audio quality was set to highest on CZcams.
Mic A = MK4 | Mic B = TLM 102.
I appreciate the blind shoot-out.
If we were picking just straight raw audio, I'd go with Mic A as that is closer to how I like my voice-overs to sound. Comparing the two side by side, I think Mic B is too heavy in the low mids. All that all being said, my hunch is that once you clean up the low end of Mic B you'll end up with a much better sound than Mic A. To my ear, Mic B has a smoother, more open top end. It's just being overshadowed by those low mids.
Yes! Thanks for commenting.
Ok considering the price difference you mentioned, it's pretty impressive that one costs less than half than the other. They both sound nice and I think A sounds like crispier and B sounds warmer, but I have to recognize that if I'm not looking at the screen watching the letters switch it'ss even harder to tell the difference as that crisp sounds is only noticeable with certain sounds. If I have to make a veredict as a personal choice I'd pick B. Thanks for sharing this video and I hope you reveal which one is which soon, have great day.
Thanks for listening! Great feedback, totally agree! I will reveal soon, just waiting for a few more comments.
Mic A = MK4 | Mic B = TLM 102.
A sounds thinner hmm.. So it sounds thinner than the small tlm 102 0.o.
maybe thats why it s cheaper
I've used the MK4 for years with a DBX286 & MOTU M2 and I call the mic a TLM101
That’s pretty accurate model number for it!
What DAW are you using for this test? Well done btw.
Thank you. I used Logic Pro
Hi brother!!! Hey, what do you think of the SE2200Se electronics compared to the MK4? I just want to find the best microphone under $350 to record singing mainly!and my options narrowed down to these 2.
I hope you can help me with your opinion brother!! Amazing voice!!!
Hey Bro. I really like that mic, I used to own it.After I purchased the TLM 102, I sold it to make up some of the money. I like the MK4 and would put the Se in the same level, but ultimately find the one the suits you voice and application, singing or VO. Hope that helps.
Agreeing with both Gabby and iRockMusic -- B sounds warmer and IMHO, better. Really curious which is which. I suspect B is the 102 (I have a 103)
I’ll reveal the mic soon. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Mic A = MK4 | Mic B = TLM 102.
The mk4 is the neumann little cousin( Sennheiser own Neumann ). Both are made in the same factory in Germany.
Correct! Thanks for watching
Hello,Sir
May you recommend this Mic for Podast or Talk show?
Greeting from Brazil.
It depends on your room. Is the room treated for sound reflections and to block outside noise? You might want to try a dynamic mic instead.
@@PaulMDiaz hello,Sir
Yes, my home Studio get two acoustic treatment:Internal and external.
I liked this Mic, Because think Very strong and robust sound.
Lord bless you.
@@felipecastro5752 you can’t go wrong with either mic. I posted two other videos. Check those out. Also, the Rode NT1 (not NT1a) is nice and well priced!
Mic. You need to find the one that best suits your voice. Not sure if that helps.
I like them both. A sounds open and B sounds warm. Which one is which?
Wow, quick response. Let’s wait for a few more comments before I reveal it. :)
@@PaulMDiaz Sounds good!
Mic A = MK4 | Mic B = TLM 102.
Comparison would be even better if you can add processed sounds as well.....!
Hey, great vid! so which is which?
Mic A = MK4 | Mic B = TLM 102.
I think mic B sounds better, it has more presence when you speak into it.
I’ll reveal the mic soon. Thanks for commenting and watching.
Mic A = MK4 | Mic B = TLM 102.
nice video! honestly can't tell more than a 1% difference, if that
Both are great! MK4 is a great value
I like B 😊😊 and i used mic a in my home recording, a is mk4 right??
B more natural and warm, a more like used compresor
TLM 102
Mic A is more Colored ... Mic B is more natural and handles Transients well....
I agree! A= MK4 B = 102! Both good mics! Thanks for commenting.
My vote: A is the 102. B is the Mk4. I have the Mk4 and it's great mic. Mic A is just more clear. It has less coloration.
Thanks for watching! A= MK4 B= 102.😎 they are both great mics. My default is the MK4 for what you mention, it’s more clear. The 102 is a bit too dark on my voice in this room.
Mic A MK4 ,sounds a little crispier & has less lows & mids!
On point!! Great ears!!
Definatelly A for me
A = MK4 thank you for watching and commenting!
Mic A is the Best
MK4
@@PaulMDiaz just love it
Mic A = MK4?
Mic A = MK4 | Mic B = TLM 102.
@@PaulMDiaz Yeah the TLM 102 is nice and for the price the MK4 is no slouch, but not a Neumann beater even though Sennheiser are the parent company.
Yes! Agree. Different sounding mics, both good.
@@PaulMDiaz are you sure you didn 't mix up the tracks ? this guy on the video (Best Microphones For Recording Vocals || Neumann TLM 102 VS Sennheiser MK 8 (Microphone Comparison)) sounds the opposite. 102 is more transparent and shrill at high frequencies, how does your mk4 sound
@@DukeProduction No mix up. I have another video with the Mk4 vs K Bee, you can listen to it there. Tomorrow I’ll probably post the 102 vs NT1a. TLM 102 is not shrill sounding at all in my space.
Sennheiser mk 4 = A klass! + 2000Euro❤ perfect!
ALERT!!! I've upgraded from the Sennheiser MK4 - drop a reply if interested in buying or trading
What's the reason bro?! 🙂 I was going to buy it As an upgrade to my Special Microphone, Aston Origin !!
Oh fair enough bro, I’ve already sold it anyways
@@yaadiiboy9429 Do you mean it's better than Aston Origin?!
Mic B sounds full ,Mic A is too bright for my taste
Yes. The TLM definitely has some weight to it. Thanks for commenting!
MIC A is very nice i thing.
I agree. Both are nice, depends on the voice. Mic A = MK4 | Mic B = TLM 102
Mic 2 little better. This video proves that mk4 is an excellent microphone
Thanks for watching and I agree, both these mics are great. I will reveal which is which after a few more comments.
Mic A = MK4 | Mic B = TLM 102.
