சிவ என்ற சொல்ல ருத்திரம் எனும் வேதத் துதியில் இருக்கிறது. அச்சொல் பிற்காலத்தில் ஏற்கப்பட்டு பிரபல்யமடைந்தது. உருத்திரனும் சிவபெருமானின் ஒரு வடிவமாக ஏற்கப்பட்டார்.
Dear Bhuvan nesh, Rudran and Sivan are different in Rig veda, which is the oldest of the Vedas (you may cross-check). Rudhram comes only in the Yajur Veda, which was compiled at a comparatively later period. Moreover, archeologically, the oldest of the samskrutic writings (that also only brahmi, devanagari script came in much much later period) never predates Guptas period, which would clearly be around 100BCE. So, evidently Rudhram was not written in 800BCE (you may cross-check)....Vedas is claimed to have passed on only through oral traditions, and never considered to have had written script......if at all any upcoming archeological excavations surprisingly reveal if Samskrut (and Prakrit) actually had a written script before 100BCE.
Asoka's(Devanampiya and Piyadasi) edicts are written in Prakrit using Brahmi script only.

The view that Rig veda came first is the oldest while other vedas came later is an inaccurate portrayal of our tradition by western scholars such as Max Mueller which began in 1800s. As Hindus we allowed western interests to paint an incorrect and racially motivated depiction of our history. Hindus can never be racists.
@@nandhinichandrasekar4391 Dear Nandhini, as a lover of history and linguistics, I have studied many literary works of both samskrut and Tamil. After reading Vedic texts to a significant extent (I am a Hindu), I don't accept Max Muller's hypothesis. I don't agree with the right wing groups either. If we look from the archeological view rather than belief, Vedas were never written down (even traditional view agrees with that...difference between smriti and shruthi, remember?). Vedas were preserved only through oral traditions, which probably suggests the lack of own writing script (the earliest of samskrut writings never predates the Gupta period). The earliest written text of rig veda (first literature of samskrut) found so far globally never predates CE (you can cross-check). For instance (actually you can find many), in Rig Veda, Saraswati is the sacred river, and nothing much is mentioned about Ganga (you can cross-check). But in Yajur Veda, river Ganga is mentioned, but Saraswati becomes the goddess of wisdom (you can cross-check), which shows that there had been an evolution of belief. So evidently rig and Yajur veda must have existed in different periods.

I have lived in various northern indian states. To my knowledge most of the north indians dont have any idea about Lord Murugan/Subramanian. For them it is only Shiva Parvati and their only son Lord Ganesha. Pl clarify sir.
North Indians dont have seperate temple for murugan, but it is associated with durga. Among navadurga's one of them is called skandamata ( aka mother of murugan). skandamata is worshipped on 5th day of navatri.
You have definitely not lived in West Bengal...Their most important festival is durga pooja. Almost all pandals showcasing durga will also show ganapati on one side and skanda(murugan) on the other side.
In North Muruga is called Karthikeya or skanda... is place in the foothills of himalayas
There are epics known as Skandapuran and Kumarasambhavam in Sanskrit
Simple. Murugan is a Tamil God. Not Hindu.
