      Actually no! All that matters is what happens on the tarmac and its clear if you saw the end... Most supercar owners nowadays only go by real life 30-130 times instead of some dyno numbers which can be manipulated with ease!!

      trust me when I say chip tuning on a diesel is very noticeable, diesels get crazy amounts of torque from the simplest HP gains and that's what you feel very different

      Bucky Barnes don’t go back to that shop. Straight up misinformation. Sure you won’t pick up as much horsepower as a turbo car but a tune for the most part is just about throwing more timing where it is safe to do so. It might not net you peak numbers necessarily but it’ll definitely help with area under the line

    This 'race chip' works to a degree but is no where near what you can get with a proper remap as they are just boost pressure sensor interceptors. They also have no control over the fueling so rely on the engines protection features to stop it running too lean - the result is EGT protection can kick in and it runs very rich to try and compensate for too lean under full boost....this means that on first few runs you get a load of power but the power can fade as EGT protection will keep kicking in. Long and short of it is power gained from these things is usually inconsistent. I also worry about these things burning valves over time (again from intermittently running too lean).

      +Powerguru78 I was referring to petrol engines - of which this 'race chip' is available for. For the diesels it does seem to have some control over the fuel rail pressure sensor, but that's a poor way to control fueling. For petrol engines it has no control, their instructions also seem to indicate it doesn't even tap into the camshaft sensor for RPM measurement so on some petrol engines (if not all) it really is just a boost pressure sensor reading manipulator.

      You are risking very much by going to a chiptunning company and letting people programm your ECU. You people can read what chiptunnig does to your car after a while. I went to BMW Krasta Auto building and asked what do they think about chiptunning and they said that most of the engine's parts will much sooner become unusable and then u'll have to go fix your car for a lot of money. And there is an artical, where a BMW enginner explains, what happens after you chip your car (really bad). Wouldn't even consider it.

    Now that the chip is in, you should really, REALLY, remove the swirl flaps in the intake manifold (if it hasn't been done by a previous owner) before they come loose and go into the engine. It's a common and well-known weakness on multiple diesel engines from BMW (like the M57 in Gareth) and is the reason for multiple broken engines.
    Also, please remove the EGR-valve and buy an aftermarket downpipe. The downpipe should realease a horse with power (maybe even two) 😎

[ HP = ( Torque in nm x RPM ) / 5252 ], diesels generaly redline at around 5000 - 5500RPM and make peak torque at around 1500 - 2500 RPM, this is why even though they have more torque then petrol engines, they tend to make less power. This is also the reason why the huge freight trucks who redline at around 1500RPM seamingly make so little power while having huge torque numbers.

It will fiddle with fuel injecting and throttle response will be way faster but you will still be limited to the original ecu torque, boost and injection maps, not to mention that over time the self adaptation of the car ecu will compensate the piggyback box overfuelling.
    So I challenge you guys for a proper review with dyno figures on install and after a week of trash driving (to give time to the ecu to adapt) and then do a proper ECU remap on a bespoked company and see the difference.

    Race Chip is rubbish. Tested one on a MK7 GTi some time back and the car actually lost power. I don't know if they are any better now but piggy back or ECU foolers rarely work, in fact they can be quite dangerous. The only plug and play system i would trust on a BMW is Burger Motorsports's JB4 or in your case JBD. These have been proven to make good safe power. Ideally you would just want to flash a proper map on to the ECU though.

    • @BrodeyDoverosx
      @BrodeyDoverosx Před 5 lety +6

      All piggybacks fight the ECU. You will not be able to adjust the torque or cylinder pressure limiters. You are also not adjusting the AFR or timing, so stick with a proper flash tune.

    • @hakosuka2
      @hakosuka2 Před 5 lety +2

      Have no experience with them and have not heard much either. You should check out forums for people's experience of them. But if in doubt, i would say just go with a reputable tuner and get a proper custom map flashed on to your ECU.

    4) for a show with a budget like yours I would expect far more accurate comparisons to individual mods.

    Taking out the interior of any E46 has a dramatic effect on the grunt. I got taken out in a stripped out E46 track prepped car when I last picked up my car from being serviced and the difference was astonishing. CF doors and panels all round, roll cage, usual coilovers and BBK, but currently stock power on the unit. I swear this thing could easily hit 60 in well under 5 secs with a good launch. After taking the heavy seats and liners out ol' gareth will possibly have nearly another 3/4 of a sec to shave off that lap time, taking it well within a midges' nad off that stock E92 time! Be very interesting to see the result. Making me look again at those Sparco R333 race seats now...
