my question is what kind of rear end is this? poss a tractor set up with a pto? i have never seen one with a 90 degree pinion shaft hanging off the side of it like this one shown as far as all the rest of it is pretty easy stuff modifying it with gears and shorting the housing and axles
Muy bien trabajo pero se le olvidó ponerle el flanche que hace de retén para que no se salgan las punta de eje en el vídeo no vi que se los allá puesto
For everyone asking about the axles staying in place, my guess is at about 13:30 in the video there is some tabs welded to the frame with set bolts that hold them in place on each side.
Overall, this is a highly informative and enjoyable video for anyone interested in fabrication. It showcases your talent and expertise while providing valuable insights and inspiration 👍👍👍
I have wondered the same thing about every one of these videos I think this rear end is out of a small truck with a mechanical 2 speed on it probably would be easier and more cost effective to just buy it already built but then that's not the point of watching the videos I am trying to get a good idea for a chassis to put a small waste oil engine on spending as little money as possible I was going to use an old gator we have at the shop but I was able to revive the existing engine and my boss thinks it is a waste of time even though I am going to do it on my own time so I am just going to build my own chassis and put it all together for myself and then when it either works well or doesn't then it will be all on me but I am very good at problem solving so as soon as I can get the basic plan together and gather up my part's I will be building it and then I can do whatever I want with it and nobody else can put any claims on it
The whole time I was watching the video of them making this modified we're axle I've been asking myself how are they going to stop stop what they call axle walk where the axle literally walks itself out the axle tubing that's the reason why the original axles had a affordable retainment On each side the thing I don't understand is this Opportunity and option of using a lathe why didn't they Cut the shaft axle shaft down and use the lays to reuse the hubs Relocate 4 new holes that are already on the hubs that are pressed in Wasn't until I watched the video all the way to the end if you look very carefully in the video you see this little Adapter/bolt put pushing up against the center of the axle shaft from the outside on the frame Something I didn't also see which they should have also looked into is the torque distortion what a rear axle does in putting it A torque arm that goes from the axle somewhere on the axle tubing forward so it don't cause Axel rap even under it load Doesn't matter if it's on a trike or If it's directly bolted to a set of tires you will get axle wrap also
Gas golf cart axle? Makes sense to me to just find one with a bad engine and upgrade the engine to higher horse power. No need to cut and shorten axle shafts. They are heavily built.
Okay so my question is, what is that rear end off of originally, what vehicle? Because I do not recognize that type of third member on any vehicle I've ever worked on. Thank you
Awesome video but I have one question what is gonna prevent the axles from walking themselves out I seen no c-clips and I didn't see any c-clip eliminators
U are correct 100 % they are going to fall out there is nothing holding them in !!! If he has a drive tire moving the 3 wheeler or what ever u call what he has built it is 1 turn the wrong way from Fallin out probably why there is not a full video of it now lol !!
13:30 in the video shows a bolt threaded through a bracket which presses on the center of the axle. A fairly hideous solution. Can't see it working well long term.
9in ford axle shaft are retain by 4 bolt outside where the outer most axle bearing is what first part he removes when removing the axle. What I would done cit axle to lenght plus 1.5 ins press off bearing and retainer. Then took the wheel Flange then welded it the axle press it back on problem solved 😉 👍 that is strong in possible be

Everything looks like leftover stuff from the Soviet Union. Scrap yards are full of it. You can do the same with old car and trucks made in every country. The construction is basically the same only with different parts that are slightly different. You just use what is available.
This misses the point. it already has a 90 degree drive. Cutting a diff down and making hubs for the sprockets is nice, but not the hard part. What is hard is locating a 90 degree reversable drive for the diff in the first place.
@@leevahal900 reverse was cobbled in later and not original...look at the whole for the handle when he is pulling it apart...obviously a gas axe was used
@@leevahal900 the belt drum was driven and the differential piñon originally could be locked out They cut and blocked off the input shaft and put a locking screw to keep the differential driven by way of feeding power through the belt drum output shaft Then use the drums’ lockout for neutral and the takeoff and reverser to drive the differential Fine as long as the torque is low enough to not blowout the PTO

I agree, sketchy as h----.
Nope: 13:42 see adjustable retainer bolts but I can not see how that would last long. Maybe this was just first run and has other plans to fix

How are the axle shafts held in place, there isn't a bearing retainer on your shafts, but apart from that this is well done.
Watch the end of the video. He has a bolt mounted on the frame that keeps the axles from coming out of the carrier.
A bolt is okay for slow speeds and not used often, but it needs a ball of sorts that can rotate so as not to self-destruct
